The normal order of Anulom Viloma is: 1. inhale through left nostril, 2. exhale right nostril, 3. inhale right nostril, 4. exhale left nostril. These four steps make a round !
I have been doing various forms of Pranayama and breath work for the past 9 months or so and I can say it's the best gift of the yogis to the world. Thank you so much for sharing this essential wisdom!
1.Anuloma Viloma is alternate breathing, which has two aspects of pooraka(inhalation) and rechaka(exhalation),with 1:2 proporrion and which has no contra indications. 2.Nadisodana pranayama has three aspects Pooraka,Kumbhaka(retention) and rechaka with 1:4:2 proportion with spcific contra indications like heart disease, advaced degerative lung diseasa, hernias snd prolapses. 3.Anuloma viloma balances the hemisperes where as Nadisodana in addition to balancing, duriing kubhaka enhances cerebral micro vascularity. 4.Right nostril breathing Soorya nadi for physical, and left nostril breathing chandra nadi for mental strength enhancement. 5.Rt.nostril breathing stimulates sympathetic and Lt.nostril breathing stimulates para sympathetic. Dr Shweta,, you are truly pure white inside out. Love ❤❤every bit of your wisdom, you shared , thankyou so much.I can relate to you very well as I have been teaching children since 2005 and share the same vision Let's catch them young and teach them. Please let me know if we can work together in some way.
Respected, Dr Sweta Adatia Thank you for your fascinating work in exploring the human brain through advanced neuroimaging techniques. I have a humble request: could you consider studying the brain activity of a devout Muslim, particularly someone from the Shia sect known for their deep spiritual practices and piety? I believe this could provide unique insights into the effects of faith and spirituality on the human mind. Your findings might be groundbreaking, and I would be excited to see your perspective on this. Thank you for considering this idea.
I got hit by a leather ball on my nose in cricket in 2021. It started bleeding really bad. After that I did not go to hospital and rested in home till it healed. The nasal cartilage became very thick on my right nostril. Gradually the right nostril breathing reduced. My digestion became slow, I started relaxing too much. I was a martial arts trainer, later I left my practice also.
I have one question ma'am, moods ko kaise change kre? I meant to say that I have been living my life with rooted feelings of resentment, anxiousness and fear. How can one change his mood to be positive and uplifted for most of the day? Give some neuroscience tools to program the subconscious with a positive uplifting state as a default settings.

Thank you Dr for driving home your points by your clear flawless explanations in an emphatic tone and stressing on points. Regards.I used to do breathing exercises daily but in my own way just to makwe diaphragm to contract and expand and the rib joints to be flexible to accommodate expanding lungs. However I never do anulom vilom though itvis apart of breathing exercise. But I will start it from tomorrow with a proper timing of inhaling and.exhaling. Thank you Dr
Radhe radhe, didi you are doing great work. Make a video of "how to control' our visualisation" because I visualise many more things which I don't want to visualise.
Hi Dr. Thanks for all your support to share useful information. I am 44 now, is there any age limit to change our brain patterns and develop new habits?
Awesome work ,had a query regarding the test to find out which side is active ,i found left nostril warm air was rushing while exhaling . But we do say rigjt the opposite side is working ,for eg i was listening to your talk so which side of the brain is predominant at that time and which side ideally the warm air should flow out .Thankyou for guidance
If someone suffered from Chronic depression don't try any kind yoga, pranayam or exercise it will worsen things more just do mri full study of your brain check for brain hypertension and treat it first.
This is not explained 6:31 if we have allergic Rhinitis which can result in blockage of any or both of our nostrils .The same happens if u have nascal Polyps or a bent/deviation 6:31 in the nascal air duct. Kindly explain how one can practice Anulom Vilom in this case.
When you talk about "Pranayama" through which "Ida" and "Pingala" get revitalized whereas "Sympathetic" and "Parasympathetic" nerves are not exactly the same as "Ida" and "Pingala" are in terms of their concept and respective functions - they are vital energy centers (Chakra) that feed left and right side of the brain through "Sushumna" (Spinal chord). If I were you I would not have come into public domain with less than adequate and in depth knowledge on the subject matter.
After delivering her baby, my daughter had a diaphragm problem. Doctor had said her diaphragm has not been automatically closed. It is still in open condition. Its now 4 yrs since delivery. Can daily breathing in this way help naturally recover her condition ? Your kind advice is greatly appreciated.
be very careful...you should breathe immediately after waking up..if you drink water then gap of at least 20 minutes should be given...ideally one should drink water..walk for 20 minutes or so...defecate and then do pranayama in the morning to get complete benefits

What is the specific contra indications like hernia ? That means who has hernia or prilapse should not try nadisodana?
Yes Because, kumbhaka increases the intra abdominal pressure, which will worsen the condition.
Very useful and informative
Thanks!

How does one use alternate nostril breathing when the fingers are in the Vishnu position?
Can I do the alternative breathing while lying down?
When I exercise both nostrils opens, what would be the impact of this on the brain? Are two hemispheres synchronized during exercising?
As you say, one nostril is dominant. What is the point of doing Anulom vinulom alternatively. Why not on the dominant one ?
Madam do you have solution for tinnitus?
