Great practical advice. Particularly with regards to cutting down grass with traditional mower first then using the robot to maintain a constant 'freshly mowed' cut.
I see so many videos of guys trying to get their robot mowers to chop through a lawn that looks like a tropical jungle that really requires a Machete or a Scythe. I've been using my robot that has the boundary wire system with great success, but this Luba is a great leap forward.
It has only just been released to us here in Australia.

I have a luba 1000 this video gives a fair and a realistic summary of what to expect from the machine.

How often do you change the blades?

Maybe I'll jump on one once they add cameras for object avoidance. My Roombas just get hung up on my kids toys constantly but they now make them with cameras to avoid stuff so I'm sure that'll come to these mowers soon.

The Luba has four ultrasonic radars to detect objects in the mower’s path and change the mower’s direction. There are settings within the app to how sensitive you want it to be.

What if you don’t have a square yard? My lawn is designed with edging that gives my turf areas curves since we didn’t want the traditional square looking backyard. Is it able to be set up to navigate an untraditional back yard?

Yes. You drive it around the perimeter of the yard to teach it the boundaries to stay within. Then you teach it the areas to avoid, if any.

it will conform to any shape yard, i have a rounded shaped patio and after i set it up it goes around it like a champ. the only real problem i have had with mine is in very tight areas.

Can you change the mow direction/pattern so each day it’s cutting at a different angle?

I am not liking the lines it's leaving, maybe I am being to picky. ,this is the second recent video ive seen where lawn shows those tire lines. Thanks for the tips Jimmy

These are the default lines... within the Luba app you can make all kinds of changes on how the Luba mows... you can mow at any angle and change the spacing. You can create checker-stipes. These changes the lines and stripes you want. Some people even use their Luba to draw messages on their lawn like crop-circles. Me personally, I like the lines and keep the default.
