- Santa Monica, June 27, 2024: Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies and Metro Armed Security conducted a comprehensive sweep of the Metro train system today, with a special focus on the downtown Santa Monica Station. This daily operation aims to ensure passenger welfare and uphold public safety standards.
At the downtown Santa Monica Station, Metro Ambassadors and the Metro Outreach Team were present, offering outreach and assistance to riders.
Metro Ambassadors support riders on Metro buses, trains, and stations, connecting them to resources and reporting maintenance and safety concerns. They are part of a multilayer plan to improve public safety, which includes security and law enforcement, homeless and mental health outreach workers, and cleaning crews.
Metro Homeless Outreach Teams engage with unhoused riders on buses, trains, and stations, connecting them to resources. These teams are also part of the multilayer safety improvement plan.
The downtown Santa Monica Station serves as the terminal stop for the Metro line, making it crucial for authorities to ensure all passengers exit the train upon reaching its final destination and re-tap to continue on the train. This measure addresses reports of some unhoused individuals using the train as a makeshift shelter, remaining on board for extended periods and even sleeping onboard.
Sheriff's Deputies and Metro Security at the downtown Santa Monica Station combine security duties with passenger welfare checks. Their responsibilities include monitoring trains and platforms, enforcing the code of conduct, tackling fare evasion, and upholding the rule of law to ensure safety and security for all passengers.
The increased law enforcement presence at the station is part of a broader effort to address concerns related to criminal activity, instill a sense of safety among commuters, and ultimately restore confidence in the Metro system. This proactive approach is designed to deter criminal behavior and encourage ridership without fear.
Authorities urge passengers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or unsafe situations promptly. In emergencies, passengers should dial 9-1-1. For non-emergency security concerns, passengers can reach security personnel at 888.950.7233. Additionally, passengers can use the train intercom or station intercoms, marked by red signs on station platforms, to alert Metro staff to any incidents.
The heightened security measures underscore the commitment of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputies to ensure a safe and secure travel experience for all Metro passengers, with a renewed focus on the downtown Santa Monica Station as a key point in the transit system.
E Line service hours are from approximately 4:30 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. daily. Trains operate every 8 minutes during peak hours, Monday to Friday. During midday on weekdays and weekends, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., trains run every 10 minutes. Night and early morning service is approximately every 20 minutes daily.
Santa Monica is a giant hell hole. Stay far away.
I hadn't been on the train for almost a year now but I had to ride this morning and I was so irritated.
@@TigerLilly-wv7vfshould had a snickers bar.
It really is until you can afford it. Otherwise, for the most part and majority part of the year, it really isn't.
What a frickin' mess! It looks like 30 to 40% of the people are homeless vagrants. Metro should enforce fare payment and ban those who repeatedly break the rules. Why do they let a guy with 5 huge garbage bags full of crud and his bicycle onto the station platform? Ideally for a better society, these vagrants should be put to work, mopping the trains, cleaning the stations and erasing graffiti, in return for adequate wages and a safe place to sleep and call home.
@@fabicorona13 Put it up your bottom and make peace with God.
Thank you officers . I ! Always appreciate your service . And to all Metro workers too the same .

Paying 3million for a place in Santa Monica and then realizing it is where all the vagrants get dropped off, We need to have the final stop next to the Mayors house!!
People who do not understand the important role played by punctuation - such as the missing possessive apostrophe in Mayor's house, the use of a comma instead of a period and the blatant abuse of the exclamation mark - are deserving of no sympathy. 😁
Move to Beverly Hills then
Guess those “goodwill ambassador’s” couldn’t handle it
Ambassador program was a big waste of money! Most of the time they go in and get on their phones 📱
All of this is why Metro needs its own police force. Too much work for just a few security guards and sheriff’s deputies.
This is all well and good, but is it a real change of heart for Metro or just for show? There needs to be a consistant real effort to keep fare evaders/wackos off in the first place, make Metro as safe as possible, and keep homeless from using Metro as an all day hangout. If this effort slacks off at the end of the year or so, things will just be back to how they were. We need to see real lasting change! I would totally ride the Metro more (and have done that and enjoied it in other cities) but I don't want to end up mugged or dead!
Add 1 wagon for people to lay down and sleep? Commuters can travel separate. 😶
Yes great idea... homelessness cars...bring back segragation
@@ututheavenger Not sure how you read my words. When is see people walking difficult (that should sleep horizontal) its better to have a place were they are able.
Also - people going to work or just commuting not need to be affronted with. Kinda silly you bring up segregation..
Excellent idea. Like Pullman cars on trains. Sleepers.
It's ALWAYS the same "people" loitering/dragging their feet when told they have to leave the train.
Soylent Green.
Of course , becaue they have no where to go.
They need to go to a Wellness Through Work Relocation Center@@Goodguy1ful
@@Goodguy1ful Anyplace OUTSIDE the train is "a place to go." Southern California has almost PERFECT weather and California spent $24 BILLION on sheltering the homeless the last five years. There are PLENTY of shelters for them. You don't know what you're talking about.
@@Goodguy1ful lmao. Like they don't know where the help is ....lmfao.
Train is full of mostly homeless. CA is like a 3rd world banana boat country..

I know that's right!!
loving the fare inspections. they ignored a lot of people who didn't pay, but this is better than nothing
It appears anyone can ride the Metro all day long for the price of one ticket, is this true?
No
It's the American way
They don't pay anything. This is Biden's America. SCREW over the taxpayers glorify criminals and law breakers.
What a disaster the Expo line is. It's how the homeless invaded the Westside. I don't know of anyone who will ride it anymore.
I ride it regularly Long Beach to Studio City.
I ride it all the time. I’d rather get downtown in 45 mins in the evening rather than 1.5 hours driving.
@@davidurciuoli8594uh wouldn’t that be the A Line and B Line?
I dont see them asking for Tap cards.
There are fare inspection officers for that. These officers are tasked with simply getting the homeless off of the train at the last stop.
Just like the talking about smoking and cameras and enforcement looking the other way. The municipal enforcement walks right pass the lady in the long brown dress letting her stay while chasing the young guy off. Why? The law is blind NO exceptionsI In another clip the same officer let the same lady wearing the same outfit stand on the platform with all those bads? Chasing the Red sweatshirt guy off catching him sneaking on.
Another amazing video brother 👍
Always great to see you! You are the best! 🙏

Until they figure out what to do about security, they should do what the governor of New York did, deploy a few hundred national guardsmen to help with security on the rail and bus systems, since local law enforcement is stretched thin. It may not look pretty to some, but it may prevent many others from being assaulted, stabbed or shot, including the bus and train operators. These days it’s more like the movie “The Purge” out there, but real!
seems like this sweep has only risen crime rates in sm. it makes absolutely no sense to cater to metro riders vs actual locals and tourists in the area - none of which are using the metro even if it was squeaky clean and safe
It’s a gubment ex-per-ment! 😂
When the L.A. County Sheriff's used to have complete control over Metro, law and order was firmly established. The police chief before this recent one was who ended the Sheriff's control thus bringing in the spiking crime aboard Metro Rail and Bus we see today. The L.A. County Sheriff's should regain control over Metro so it will be safe to ride again 👮
Tax payer money going to good use right here. Well done!

I knew back then when this Metro train first started around 2015 that it will bring criminals and homeless from downtown LA to Santa Monica. I knew it back then. They should have never gotten that train at the first place. What a mistake! Now Santa Monica have to deal with all these bums and thugs. Shame!
Is that when the Santa monica station opened? The train has been around since 1995. I remember when they were building the Alvarado station in 1989.
SANTA MONICA, FINAL STOP for homeless beach shelter
Keep up the good work sheriffs, nobody else in the city leadership is.
why dont the Fare Checkers give the homeless people tickets? seems like they're only targeting the working class...
You think they will really pay those tickets ?
Exactly! Makes no fucking sense!
We’ll send them all to your house you can buy them tickets. Jack ass
If the working class don't want to give any homeless a penny the law will be happy to take it from the working class

LA Country Board of Supervisors, LA Mayor, other Municipal Mayor integrate their woke ideologies and policies into the DA's office, police departments and sheriff's departments which have results of increased crimes; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent crime, for a citizen man may be attacked with greater confidence due to these social experiments and more and more law abiding citizens are victims as a result. "The Government you elect is the Government you deserve." Thomas Jefferson.
COVID is over and it is time to return back to normal, safety, clean streets and make good personal choices. The Progressive Hugs experiment is over and failed miserably,

Keeping transit safe good video don't like the ticket checking that's 4th amendment while others were escorted out and not checked
Appropriate Sci-Fi World is adjacent since this Metro operation is Fantasyland.
4:36 In 2007 I spoke to a decorated Vietnam war Vet for a college class project. Soldeier had a handwritten note from the President....In his words, he killed 2 vietnamese up close with a knife and stared them in the eyes. He estimated 50-80 more personally killed with a machine gun placement during a vietnamese charge. Some of these guys cant come back mentally after so much killing.I cant speak for that guy in this video, but I guarantee he has a story.
This video is precisely why I have never and will never ride the Metro. It is mental hospital.......

Hello please can I say the man shouting about people smoking 🚬 🚭 on the train 🚆 can I say tell the train sherifs on the day he doesn't need to shout and and be rude to Metro staff thankyou
And don’t forget that lady that died on the red line or got stabbed an died later rode the red line
Oh yes you are Santa Monica like your TH-cam says but there’s a lot more going on an people sleep an charge there phone on in the metro stations an sometimes you don’t feel safe like
Even though nobody bothered me
You just don’t feel safe
Sheriff’s Deputy: “Get off the damn train!”
All day long process. The train-crashers are running from one car to another. 😂
Shingalla is going around LA homeless. It’s contagious.
The blue pill...? Think he's taking the red pill🤣🤣
Too many people using train as anything but transportation.
As a City Bus Operator we too have to wake up sleepers at the end of each terminus.
What can be done so the homeless don’t go in at all?? The ones with no fare I mean.
They always do that tell also ask if u if u party or want a tester’s choice or wave u to there car walk away they will fallow you or stock u
They kidnap homeless people that they can take advantage of
Have a good day Anthony
Does it need so many officers and sheriffs for one train?
Why are you guys doing this to them?!’
To many riders staying on!
About Time how Pathetic.
can they put metro officer on train each train
How bout you get a gun and be a man and know your rights instead of a coward hiding behind the next man
No shirt, no ride!
I can smell the homeless from here
this is like ASMR to me LOL
The train from hell
Gavin built that 😂
By now how many have died
The officer keeps adjusting his cap, leave it alone lol
let him be lol
Metro voted to create its own police force . All of a sudden LAPD & LASD respond . I see threatened contracts 🤷🏻♂️ 🍵
BUMS EVERYWHERE
Great work.. not going to lie, the job looks fun. The sheriffs dont fuck around.
Unbelievable how law enforcement has become full of morally defective, unkempt officers.
God bless the founding fathers 🙏👌
WOW!
Why do the trains stop and then move up? Does anyone know...
@@AndrewMartinez-d6o Thanks. I know its the end of the line. I'm just curious as to why the trains stop half way down the platform before moving up to the end,
@@tjgolden113it’s a safety issue since it’s a stub end Station… Similar to a brake check before stopping.
@@GregSmith803 Interesting... Thanks!
Question....how often do they clean the platforms at the stations? They look dirty day or nite!😢 Also can I bring my dog,? He's Esa certified.
Who else heard that Metro is finally getting its own police department? It should've been done years ago.
So after how many shooting and murders on metro Karen Bass is finally going to take things seriously?
