Love to see you back with trains. The other stuff is fun, but the trains videos are the best. Second are the boat videos. Can't wait to see what adventures you get up to now that you are based out of another part of the world!
Have just come back from Vietnam (August 2024). We experienced no issues with access to train street - you just need to find the right segment. But you're absolutely right, it is super dangerous and therefore incredibly exciting and a must-do when visiting Hanoi. I'm looking forward to seeing your Vietnam adventures!
Some of my most poignant memories are the times spent with my brother. One time in particular was two days together in a small camp trailer. While it rained outside, my brother and I talked, cooked, played games, and enjoyed a sleepover.
I’ve actually passed this part of Vietnam in 2014 on my Christmas holiday. Unfortunately it was on more of a guided tour and I didn’t get to experience heaven so close 😂
Reminds me of the CP holiday train in Whitemouth, MB. Except when they forget to tell anyone that a freight train has priority and blows by at 90km/hr about as close as this one.
I’ve had a rough week. My mom’s in hospice (I’m her only egg 😊) and I had to have surgery. Your video came at the right time. It is interesting, fun, and joyful, plus it included your sister. I also learned something I never knew existed, the train street. How cool!? Thank you so much. Not sure if you’ll ever know the impact your videos have on people’s mental wellbeing.
WOW... Train Street Hanoi !!! Your a long way from boating in the Canals of the UK....😀😀. But as usual another great DownieLive vid. Keep up the good work. Max. Australia.
Growing up on Long Island (New York) we used to crush pennies on the tracks of the Long Island Rail Road. Most of the ground level tracks we used to do that on are now elevated and you can't access them any more.
There are a lot of "street runners" in the US. Maybe not so tight or turned into tourist attractions, but they're there. La Grange, KY, is a well-known one.
You should come to St. George, Utah next, there are a lot of things to do and the town is close to Zion national park and it’s near snow canyon state park and there are red rocks that surround the town and there a lot of hikes, I really want you to come and experience my home town 😁
Theres a similar market in Thailand! I went a few years ago. We took a day trip to it, and you basically get to ride the train in through a similarly narrow pathway. And the local shops generally sell goods over the train tracks. And then pack up as the trains coming. They all had fold away stalls and stuff so when the train passes they're out of the way, and then within minutes are back set up to sell after the train passes. You can get tickets to ride the train in and there's literal inches between the train and some of the stalls. And then you park up and get to explore. Highly suggest trying it out if you're in Thailand. Its just outside of Bangkok, and its called the Maeklong Railway Market.
If like me, you're a bit of a railway enthusiast or as I like to call myself a railway "geek", then the passenger train livery is very similar to a UK livery and division called Network South East. Going back to the days when our railway was nationalised in the 1990s
Love the train!! Sure, it's dangerous...but not as dangerous as getting on a motorcycle and driving in Vietnam.. HAha. Always enjoy seeing your sister Jessica on the video!!
Love the little cafes by the train track. That would be fun. Riding the mopeds like that, not so much. Haha Love Bellroy products. I use their sling all the time for my travels and their backpack holds a lot.
That's insane that this really happens. I mean people when close enough can get swept under the train. Saying all this I would still visit train Street but keep a safe distance back.
Yey!!!! hopefully more contents about Asia since you now live in Asia 🤩. Maybe about trains in Japan or that airport in Singapore or that bus across mainland Southeast Asia or maybe something always happens in Singapore Grand Prix
We would get in trouble putting pennies on the train tracks as kids. Our parents always told us it could make the train derail. Looking forward to the next vid.
In the US (and presumably most of the first world) use of asbestos in train brakes was stopped in the mid 1980s. In Asia, I have no idea...but if it is level track and there's no station on either side of the street, the trains may not need to decelerate under normal circumstances. And if they only need to slow down a little bit, they will use dynamic braking that doesn't use brake shoes.
I crashed a local funeral while hiking in Sa Pa. Lots of happy water with the locals and also witnessed the Village butchering a water Buffalo in a creek.
My ex was once married to a man from Vietnam. She's been there many times and told me all the cool, funny, and sometimes near unbelievable stories, like your moped not having enough power for the hill. The rented a more powerful one which then led to a wheelie and she fell off the back... lol
As this TH-cam shows, the trains going through Jack London Square go right down the street with people walking and cars driving along side, not separated by a fence, not a close as in Hanoi, but close enough for accidents. th-cam.com/video/EFk-yeGHn-o/w-d-xo.html
“Mom said not to do this because it put both of her eggs in one basket”😂
I lol'd hard at that, priceless
Yes Vietnam adventures!! “Instead of just watching the trains, let’s jump on top of one of them from the balcony “…oh…he meant book a ticket😅
I thought the same honestly 😂 I was like "there's no way he's gonna..." and then .. "oh, well, ok" .. haha 😅
Love to see you back with trains. The other stuff is fun, but the trains videos are the best. Second are the boat videos. Can't wait to see what adventures you get up to now that you are based out of another part of the world!
Such a fantastic spot, and it's great to see Jess back in the videos! 2:35

We are going next month on a Tuesday & Wednesday. We have read some articles saying they only run at weekends - did you visit on a weekday? Thanks
Some of my most poignant memories are the times spent with my brother. One time in particular was two days together in a small camp trailer. While it rained outside, my brother and I talked, cooked, played games, and enjoyed a sleepover.
I love the vids when your sister visits. You two always get up to the best adventures! Can't wait for the next video.
I'm glad I woke up and I get to see this right when it's posted!!🎉
First!
imagine just eating outside and a train just drives i the middle of the street
You can see it jack London in Oakland, the street is just wider
LaGrange Kentucky has good street-running trains, and a live feed Virtual Railfan camera.
Your content just keeps getting better and better!!!!!!!!
Your train adventures will always be my favorite. What a great experience for you and your sister!😊
The bottle caps were great! We used to put pennies on the track at Knotts Berry Farm. Thank you for the memory!
It was even more amazing to see this from my sleeper room window departing Hanoi, Vietnam.
I’ve actually passed this part of Vietnam in 2014 on my Christmas holiday. Unfortunately it was on more of a guided tour and I didn’t get to experience heaven so close 😂
From 10 years ago is different due to decorate and focus tourism
Reminds me of the CP holiday train in Whitemouth, MB. Except when they forget to tell anyone that a freight train has priority and blows by at 90km/hr about as close as this one.
good to see you pumping out some videos. Can’t wait to see more videos on Vietnam 🇻🇳
More to come!
Glad i couldn't fall asleep tonight. Great video
Glad you enjoyed it. Good night!
Yay!!! Back to trains!
Awesome location and love what you and Jess get into!!
Oh my god the inside of that train car was fabulous!
I love your videos man, keep it up 👍
Appreciate it!
been there to see it and all of vietnam too such an amazing view from the small rail side cafes

4:07 Great freeze frame 😂
Nice to see the adventures with Sister Jess finally on the channel 👏🏽
WOW... Train Street Hanoi !!! Your a long way from boating in the Canals of the UK....😀😀. But as usual another great DownieLive vid. Keep up the good work. Max. Australia.
Those train cabins look extremely comfortable and clean. Ugh I would love that so much!
I enjoy the videos with you and your sister, but I can't help imagining Will's excitement for this adventure!!
I feel like this will stay a tourist attraction for some time to come. Both the local businesses and also train drivers seem to like it.
Growing up on Long Island (New York) we used to crush pennies on the tracks of the Long Island Rail Road. Most of the ground level tracks we used to do that on are now elevated and you can't access them any more.
It'd be fun to see from the train's point of view
Mike, this was brilliant and fun. Not everyone would get the chance for this fun attraction, thanks want more.😊
You find the coolest stuff to do😍😍
There are a lot of "street runners" in the US. Maybe not so tight or turned into tourist attractions, but they're there. La Grange, KY, is a well-known one.
The lights and decor are great!
They have concrete railroad ties in Vietnam, most of the USA still uses wooden railroad ties because they are old fashioned
Wooden ties are better in cold freezing conditions. They do not get microcracks from freezing water. Concrete ties are termite proof.
Always an adventure. Keep it comin. . .😎👍
You have to CHOO CHOO CHOOS your food quick before the train arrives!
You should come to St. George, Utah next, there are a lot of things to do and the town is close to Zion national park and it’s near snow canyon state park and there are red rocks that surround the town and there a lot of hikes, I really want you to come and experience my home town 😁
What an amazing video Michael I feel I'm actually their close to that train having a drink thank you!

No, in Hanoi at coffee railway you get special feeling
If like me, you're a bit of a railway enthusiast or as I like to call myself a railway "geek", then the passenger train livery is very similar to a UK livery and division called Network South East. Going back to the days when our railway was nationalised in the 1990s

Ahhhhhh yea BABY! Another DownieLive video. WOOT! WOOT!!
Right now, in The USA, 🇺🇸 some politician/Safety Official, just had a stroke 😱 after seeing this 😂😂😂
That was amazing. I can’t believe it’s allowed but hey, what an experience. The lighting and decoration were fab, too. 🚂
That's amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Fascinating as usual .......
Wow, this was just crazy insane, inches from death, was a unique experience just very risky.
I would go there but stay way back.
Love the little cafes by the train track. That would be fun. Riding the mopeds like that, not so much. Haha
Love Bellroy products. I use their sling all the time for my travels and their backpack holds a lot.
Perfect adventure for a train lover
that is so rad, adding it to the ever growing dream vacation list
there are more then one street with trains around Vietnam...and around Hanoi area
1:14 "It's a long one!!!" 😃
- That's what she said.
That’s a one of a kind street
Interesting and cool vid. I thought that the train was going to go through the town when they were riding on it; at first.
The music at 0:21 sounds kinda like a RailJet train coming out of a stop
Another amazing experience!
That's insane that this really happens. I mean people when close enough can get swept under the train. Saying all this I would still visit train Street but keep a safe distance back.
This looks like a fun tourist attraction. The invites must be coveted. Thanks for showing it to us.
Heaven forbid there be a derailment!
Yey!!!! hopefully more contents about Asia since you now live in Asia 🤩.

I live less then 50 ft from an active train track by CPR & CN rail that run ALL DAY & NIGHT, this fascination with being close to a train is weird.
This is Florida with rain, we go inside for 1 min and come back out when it passes.
If you want a similar experience go to NYC and stand near the platform edge lol
Amazing! My Temu order crushed your bottle cap 🎉🎉🎉😂
I’ve noticed the owner is wearing a Lululemon cap to welcome you, knowing that u guys r from Canada 🇨🇦❤
One risk you forgot was the Asbestos dust from the brake shoes
In the US (and presumably most of the first world) use of asbestos in train brakes was stopped in the mid 1980s. In Asia, I have no idea...but if it is level track and there's no station on either side of the street, the trains may not need to decelerate under normal circumstances. @@Salmagundiii Montreal's Métro trains, from their 1966 debut, have used brake shoes made in-house from cherry wood lubricated with peanut oil.
What a cool experience!
Right?!?? Honestly it was very cool
Welcome to Vietnam
Just looks likes so much fun.
you should try out Maeklong market
Hi Mike nice video from Vietnam adventures
I crashed a local funeral while hiking in Sa Pa. Lots of happy water with the locals and also witnessed the Village butchering a water Buffalo in a creek.
4:07 and there I was thinking you would jump on the roof of the train to ride it :)
My ex was once married to a man from Vietnam. She's been there many times and told me all the cool, funny, and sometimes near unbelievable stories, like your moped not having enough power for the hill. The rented a more powerful one which then led to a wheelie and she fell off the back... lol
It’s a river bed, not a road? That’s how you know the monsoons aren’t playing around.
That was beautiful.Maybe still a French influence.
That looks like the perfect hang out spot if you like loud horns :)
Wow that train is nice!
thanks Mike
This is insane and beautiful
This is so much fun! 👏🏽
It really is!
yay
you came to my home country
Made my day!
Fascinating, that train street gave me Harry potter vibes😅
This is just crazy!
That would be cool to have the ADVENTURE! I WISH?
I heard from a local that this is purely a tourist attraction now. Only crazy tourists go here but locals don't.
One part of me really wants to try this, but another part of me doesnt trust my own intrusive thoughts
Incredible!😃
Amazing! And beautiful.
2:06 - I used to do this with pennies as a kid.
As this TH-cam shows, the trains going through Jack London Square go right down the street with people walking and cars driving along side, not separated by a fence, not a close as in Hanoi, but close enough for accidents. th-cam.com/video/EFk-yeGHn-o/w-d-xo.html
When are you going to check out the Tren Maya?
Amazing video! downie live are you ever gonna ride Amtrak again
Health and safety in the UK would have a field day with this one can you imagine this anywhere in Britain 😂 🇬🇧
Super cool ❤
Hello Michael have you ever been visiting in china and india as well
