I don't think she gets it, neither does her daughter. She looks great but she is already talking about straightened. She wanted to hide her ears, they are now. Some people think they want change and then when they get it they don't appreciate it. I think Christopher did an awesome job.

Absolutely! The shape and style are just all wrong for her (and maybe anyone).
I had a lazy hairdresser do this to me. No color change and hardly blew dried it. The natural look. The hairdressers around him were praising him. Uh huh. Just blend it with your fingers. Very few women can do that and look better. For all the accolades his work is inconsistent and she deserved the same care as the ones who are changed for the better. AND they made her sit there after he was done.

Other than bald, there really isn't any style that is 'easy' to maintain - unless you go straight bed head. If Christopher was given complete freedom he may have gone a completely different direction. Who knows? She was given a great look.

Wow, rude daughter & ungrateful mom, imo. I think Christopher did a great job. If she can’t do her hair, then he gave her the perfect style! Change is difficult & I don’t think she was ready for it, especially since it was her husband’s idea. I actually felt bad for Christopher with this one. It’s okay if she doesn’t like it, but if she could see herself through our eyes, she’d see that she looks SO better after. So much younger & definitely more stylish!

The curly look is a better fit for her shaped face. She looks twenty years younger to me! She just needs a dif style of glasses. Those glasses are too big for her face.
Another thing that would help the makeover is to get an optician that sells really cool glasses - not a chain store but a boutique type. Usually when people change their hair color and cut, their old frame doesn't work anymore.

As a stylist /salon owner for 50 years(just retired) I thoroughly enjoy watching these videos. He does a great job of personalizing each cut to the particular clients needs. I got a kick out of this one in particular! The worst thing is when a client has a daughter come with her! When one of my clients brought in her daughter I used to say " we can absolutely do her hair the way you want it....however....then you must let me do your hair the way your mother wants it! I actually had to tell one client I would not cut her hair if she brought her husband with her. They argued back and forth with her wanting her massively thick hair short while he wanted it long. The whole while she is whispering to me telling me to ignore him! I do have a schedule which does not include time for arguing.......argue at home people! I got a kick out of it. The daughter completely took the joy of the moment away from her mother ( who looked fabulous) and made her question the results! Oh I must say I do not miss some aspects of the job! This woman was 1000% better after her makeover!
My last standing Friday appointment would complain every week. Everyone always commented on how her hair always looked perfect the whole week. After 4 years of these kind of Friday nights, I finally told her nicely, since I could not please her she might want to try someplace else. She never complained again.
I love when the older biddies used to say they only could squeeze out 3-4 haircuts out of their perms! Wanted a free "touch up" perm. 😂 ya, no.
Hes working so hard but shes just not on board. She is resistant to change. Cant please them all. But he can rest assured he did the best he could and put utmost effort in. She may grow to love it. Maybe she isnt the one for a makeover and she should just bring in a few pictures of what's acceptable to her.

Some people don't see themselves accurately. How this women is concerned about what people will think at work, or possibly doesn't like the change this shocks me. Before, her hair made us notice her nose and ears and she looked boyish. After, she was the full package and her eyes got the attention and nice mouth as well. This look is so elevated!
To other people’s point, definitely more fashion forward glasses!!! The hair is 1000% better!! She went from frumpy old lady to modern glam!! Sooo glad he didn’t give her the freaking extensions her husband asked for! How ridiculous would that have looked on her?!!! 😳 Great job Chris!❤️

I just hope SHE wanted the makeover and that SHE is happy. It’s almost excruciating to watch her response and Christopher’s attempts to explain his vision to her. I think it’s amazing.
This was an amazing transformation! I'm so surprised that she wasn't immediately feeling like a million bucks! The change is amazing and she looks beautiful! So stylish and updated.

It looks amazing! I am surprised that she doesn’t just love it! I lifts her face. Her long hair gave her face an usual shape, where her lower face seemed very prominent. Her hair style gives her entire face better balance. It’s amazing on her. Even her smile is lifted as a result of the new shape of her hair.

Another beautiful woman who doesn't know it. I sense she's lived her entire life in the shadow of an overbearing person. Now it's her husband. And it seems like her daughter is following in his foot steps. Telling a woman who has no sense of her self that she should or must or ought to realize how beautiful she is or how gorgeous her curls are is a premature expectation. This woman clearly has no know idea who she is. Like so many of us. I hope this experience planted a seed for her; to choose her own self care.

To Annie McMcHale; I agree! It’s like her daughter saying ”you should have done this a long time ago!” Seems like a way of getting her to doubt herself. She got the makeover & looks refreshed & polished. Be happy that she did it now.

She went from dowdy to sassy in a few hours! Christopher I'm so glad you showed how much care and attention you gave her to get to this wonderful revamped look and with the make up too. Even though she was miffed at the end, she should've watched the whole process instead of hiding then she would've appreciated the transformation. She looked in her late 50's and after she looks in her early 50's. It's a shame some people can't have the confidence to be themselves and are only defined by their partner.

I think she was hard to please because it wasn't her who wanted the makeover. Or she might have been pondering but I'm not sure how I would take if my husband pointed out si "subtly" that I'm not good enough. It also seems hubby made comments about his co-worker's transformation (long and blonde/lighter hair) and she was expecting something similar to please the husband.

@@jenniferdahl4475 - daughter was acting embarrassed for her mother speaking to Chris. I think it's just a habit people get into, in the style of relating to those too familiar to them. Outside their tight group, people may be shocked, but they don't necessarily mean disrespect.
It's inspiring seeing make-overs that take into account the ability to sustain the look afterwards.
She looks beautiful, love her curls, definitely looks more youthful. The makeup is gorgeous, too. New glasses might be a good call, not sure these are the MOST flattering glasses she could wear.

In the best case, husband is just clueless and trying to "problem solve" by giving specific solutions that worked for other people. Doesn't mean it's what she needs and if she was never a makeup and hair person it is hard to learn at this point. Glasses look like she was trying to be playful at the time but hasn't gotten frames for many a year. Hope she has the money or insurance for an update.

I've been binge watching your videos and forwarding all of them to my mother. She's a lovely woman who just forgot how to take care of herself because she's focused on us over the years. She deserves the pampering but somehow thinks she doesn't need it. I just hope she'll change her mind because I can't force her to these changes. She needs to want them herself. She's lovely. Before and after the makeover. I love how he did the hair, enhancing the natural curl in the hair. So sexy (but not too much). Maybe this customer is afraid of looking free and sexy. Hope she embraces it! Really, as Sing Blue Silver says in previous comment, ditch the hubby. He tells her she needs to go get a makeover, schedules it, pays for it, and says she needs extensions too. How about loving and supporting her as she is? I bet the husband could use a makeover (something Christopher loves to say when he knows that a husband is making demands on how the wife should look). And the daughter needs to be supportive too. A person is very vulnerable when getting all this done, and needs support!

Here's my guess: Her husband asked her to get extensions. He wanted her hair longer and thicker, and she was coming home with shorter hair. I worked in a salon for a bit, and learned there are some men who get angry if their wife gets more than an inch cut off. One client's husband gave her the silent treatment when she cut all of her hair off. No idea about this woman's situation, but my guess is she expected her husband to be angry that she got what looks like four inches cut off her hair. (I didn't think she was rude, just reserved.)

Don’t get me wrong this is a huge improvement, but It is obvious that she hates her hair and I don’t blame her. This is not a flattering look for her. Should have never removed her length and scrunched the hell out of her hair. I would have loved to see her as a redhead with hair that frames her face and hair extensions to give her volume and more length just below her shoulders. Then she needed a cut that frames her face and softens her features plus a side fringe to shorten her forehead. Makeup was a little too understated but with hair that cutesy I can see why.
Betty I wouldn’t say she is even close to being beautiful after the hair and makeup but at least it was an improvement over the frumpy plain Jane.
Watching this a second time, I get the feeling she's going to go home and pull it back in a ponytail, and make sure that some of the hair covers the tops of her ears...

I just watched it for the second time too and I was thinkin the exact same thing. There's no way she's gonna invest any time in styling her hair or trying to put on make-up. She just isn't, then will moan about not feeling pretty. Her and I could never be friends with her crappy personality.

@@Kif_Lee - I hope for the best for everyone. There are options and short cut tips for people who have trouble with duplicating a process. Some are just unable to. Bear in mind, she seemed puzzled as to why she was there, except that she & daughter would have some fun! Some people just don't see any need to tamper with their appearance. (That's why I thought she was an internal sort of person) If she liked her curls she could have a soft perm, and cut into a wash and wear style. Or she could choose to have it lightened, more highlights. She could get some permanent makeup colour on brows and eyeliner. Her skin is good, so some mineral makeup dusted on and lipstick could be all she needs to do! Chris went with her natural aspects which are the most flattering! If the husband doesn't love her for herself, loyalty and motherhood to his children, superficial changes won't change his heart. The blonde straight extensions sound more like a fantasy of his! She could get a wig to wear in the bedroom? Perhaps he meant well. We don't know.

I don't want to sound rude, although I probably will ....lol, but this lady particularly needed a new face. TheMakeOverGuy did work a miracle on her, wether she wanted to acknowledge it or not. We all saw her face before, she was all nose and ears, with flat shapeless hair. She ended up with much less nose, a beautiful complexion and a very funky, fun hairstyle to bring her out of her lifeless expression and totally covered her big ears! What else did she want?? Maybe she wanted to look like Charlize Theron at the end, but for that, she needed to be reborn from different parents! Christopher is a hairstylist not God!!! lol

It’s not what she expected. He just cut her hair and let it dry naturally., it had no style at all. That’s why she was not impressed.

I understand as a hair dresser not everyone will see your vision of creativity but she really looks disappointed and not happy at all. Wish he would have tried to give her setting she would leave happy with
I think she looks better than she did coming in but not as great as everyone is saying. People have different ideas of what they are comfortable in. If that were me, I would not have been happy with that haircut. It was way more of a "messy, tousled" look than I would have wanted. And, if her husband wanted extensions, he will not be happy with this shorter messy look. I imagine it costs a pretty penny for his makeovers and I don't think this one was worth it. It doesn't seem like he even tried or did anything besides chop off the hair at the bottom. On the plus side, this is the first of these makeovers where I personally think they didn't overdue the makeup. She probably insisted on limits on that and if so, good for her!
