Messi loved Barcelona so much, that they almost went bankrupt. And then he took a huge check, so happy to be in Paris, smiling.
Then a even bigger check, smiles all over. And now he is smiling in Miami. Messi doesn't care about any club or league.
He could have taken much less money, out of love for Barcelona. Before it was too late.
And in the Premier League, Messi wouldn't get special referee protection. There you play butchers, 90 minutes non stop, every game.

There are essentially four reasons why football is by far the most important sport in the world.
    1. The rules are very simple. In other sports such as baseball or American football, the rules are far too complicated. As a child, you can understand the rules of football in less than 10 minutes.
    2. Football is played according to the same rules all over the world.
    3. Because so few goals are scored - usually only 2-3 goals in a game - every goal is a shock. When the opposing team scores, you get a shock, and when your own team scores, you celebrate with a huge emotional rush. Game results such as 95:80, as in basketball, are considered very boring in Europe because a basket shot with 2 or 3 points is not worth that much.
This rollercoaster of emotions means maximum ecstasy.
    4. When you play football, you only need a very simple infrastructure: a football pitch (105 m * 68 m) with grass, two goals (7.32 m * 2.44 m) and football boots. That's all. Because all of this is very cheap, even poor people can play football.
    _________________
Football was invented in England in 1863 and then spread very quickly in Europe. Today, football is by far the most popular sport in more than 80% of all countries around the world. It has the highest turnover and the highest profit margins. When world-class games are sold from one club to another in Europe, transfer fees of more than €200 million (about $220 million) are sometimes paid.
    ________________
In 2026, the most important sport in the world will stop in the USA.
Then the entire world will be watching the USA with excitement and its sport, football. Several billion people around the world will watch the games live on TV or the Internet, and some will watch the games in the middle of the night.
When their team plays, many fans will drive through the streets in a motorcade, honking their horns and waving their national flags, and will hoist their national flags in cars with open sunroofs and convertibles. Tens of thousands of cars will drive through the streets honking their horns at walking pace.

Andres Escobar the player who was gunned down was the result of a World Cup match between Colombia and the USA in the 94 World Cup. Colombia was favored to be one of the top teams in the tournament and were upset by the USA. Andres Escobar had an own goal (accidently scored on his own team) and was the deciding goal in the match. Colombia's chances fell apart after that. There is a documentary about it on ESPN (The Two Escobars I think is what it is called - It talks about how Pablo Escobar helped fuel the rise of Colombian Soccer in the 1980's and also the career of Andres Escobar and how Andres murder lead to the decline at that time of the Colombian football. And no Andres and Pablo were not related)
Also some additional backstory/context to some of the moments in the video:
The Sergio Aguero goal (Agueeeeerrrrrooooooo!) is probably one of the most astounding finishes to a regular season that I can think of. If Aguerro's team (Manchester City) lost or tied the game their crosstown rival, Manchester United, would have won the league. To add to the drama, the team they were facing, Queens Park Rangers (QPR), had a bunch of players and a manager who were Manchester City castoffs who had something to prove. In addition, QPR was facing relegation from the Premier League. So QPR came out swinging and City found themselves down by two Goals. City came back and tied the game and Aquero's goal came at the end of "stoppage time" at the end of the game.
The guy you see in the Leicester City winning the Premier League clip is an amazing story in itself. The player, Jamie Vardy, is a literal rags to riches story. Before that season, Vardy was a Semi Pro player in one of the lower leagues and had a literal day job. With Leicester, he became one of the top scorers in the Premier League and was instrumental in Leicester winning the Premiership.
The clips of Tottenham coming back against Ajax and Liverpool coming back against Barcelona - those matches happened on back to back nights. It was amazing. Also Liverpool's Manager, Jurgen Klopp, is one of my favorite managers. He's the sort of coach you would run through walls for if he asked you. (Sadly he stepped down as Liverpool's manager earlier this summer).

Messi played in the spanish league then french league for 2 seasons and now inter miami, US League ( Mls). Premier league is the most watched and maybe the most competitive but its on the same tier and level of the spanish league and all other national leagues, premier league its just the england league, but yeah alot of money and alot of good teams there. messi would be the best there as well, as he is the player with most goals against the english teams ( premier leagues). he dominates premier teams in the champions league.

Historically there is a change in which European league is more dominant. For now , the premier league is morncompetitive and the richest. It is the most competitive just because there is more uncertainty as to who will be in the top 5 usually but in terms of actually technique they are not considered the best league. Spain for instance has Real Madrid who won the competition for the best club in Europe and they can demolish most of the top 5 premier league teams. The Spanish league isn’t as competitive because it is always 2 teams battling it out for the top (Real Madrid and Barcelona)and sometimes atlético Madrid challenges them too. However, those top 2 teams of Spain are usually better than most of the top clubs in Europe. Most of the media attention as been to the premier league as of recent because of Manchester city who have pretty dominant. But in the European era (2000-2010s) of Messi and Ronaldo, “La Liga” the Spanish name for their league was the best league not the premier league. Messi actually played against premier league teams often in the champions league competition and was really successful against them. Also, unlike most players Messi is famous for playing for Barcelona for the majority of his professional career since he has a very personal and emotional connection to the club.

Every country in the world has its own futbol league (almost all). The European top leagues are the most famous and the most prestigious, Premier League (England), La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy), to name the top 3. The MLS is the American league. Additionally in every continent their is a league where the top teams of all the countries in the continent play, the Champions League (Europe), the Libertadores (South America), Concachampions (North, Central America and the Caribbean). A team in a year will play in its League one or more tournaments and also can be playing a continental competition ( simultaneously ). That is club futbol.
There is also National Teams futbol. All the continents have tournaments where the countries national teams play. The USA plays in the Gold Cup (North, Central America and the Caribbean). In Europe it is called the Euro, and Copa America (south America). Africa, Asia and Oceania also have these. This year the Euro and the Copa America are played in June, and the Copa America will be hosted in the USA (June 20th -July 14th). The most important National teams competition is the World Cup that is played every 4 years, with a qualifying stage that begins 2 years before and where almost all countries participate.
Messi though born in Rosario Argentina, was signed at a young age by Barcelona from Spain (playing in La Liga). He played there from 2003 until 2021. He then played 2 years in PSG from France and since last year in Miami. He also played in the Argentinian National team since 2004. He never played in the Premier League because he never was signed by an English team, nor was he interested in doing so. The Liga at that moment was at times superior than the Premier. So players have their trade teams and their national teams. Like basketball players that play in the NBA but can also play in the Olympics for Team USA.
Futbol as we know it began to be played in 1863.

Friend. There is never been a shoot out to a goalkeeper in Brasil, sent by the government because he missed stopping a ball.
There was a Colombian player shot because he couldn’t stop an American player from scoring a goal. It was a drunken thug in the times of high crime in that country. They had lost money. Many of your comments are unfounded. Bad comments like yours have made Association Football unpopular in your country. Which by the way has a pretty good array of teams in a poorly designed league. There should be relegation like everywhere else. Footy is a pretty exciting game. Number 10 in this sport is worn by the quarterback or play maker, Lionel Messi is one, Pepe was another, Maradona was another, Ronaldinho was another yet Beckam was a 7 and Cristiano Ronaldo is also a 7. Different position in the field, different tasks in the team. Everybody can score including the goal KEEPER. Learn about it is fun, but stop making stupid comments.

My dude there are clubs and then there are national teams. Lebron played for the lakers but represent team USA for Olympics for example! Players switch clubs all the time just like a player can go from playing for the Miami heat and then go play for the lakers. The other thing is that each country has a league for their clubs. Like the league in the US is the NBA. Clubs will play other clubs in their own league and the top clubs of each country’s league are selected to play in the “champions league” which is where the top teams of each European country’s league go against each other to determine the best club in Europe across club leagues!

      @davesworldreacts  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Like the Euros or something? Please let this dumb new fan know.

It wasn't Messi...it was Ibrahamovic. Haven't American's heard of any footballers other than Messi??? If you talked less an listened more, you might learn something!! Messi didn't play for the Premier League because he was busy playing for Barcelona in La Liga. Premier League is just the top English League, it's not the best football league in the world as all Americans seem to think. Spanish teams have a much better record in the UEFA Champions League than English clubs.

What I ment was that when ibra was in picture you mistook him ( or something ) for Messi. There´s a lot of differences, Ibra is almost 2 meters. Love your reaction though.@@davesworldreacts
