Amai Mask could not best Zombie Man, even with his blitz fighting style. Amai Mask has limited abilities outside of hand to hand combat, and we've seen how it's impossible to beat Zombie Man with such brute force in Zombie Man vs. Pureblood.

Zombie man was able to defeat karnage kabuto in the VGS stimulation that Dr. Kuseno created. It took a whole week to outlast his carnage mode but if zombie man can fight for a whole week, he can definitely outlast amai mask.

Don’t forget, placement in the hero association isn’t just by power, intelligence and popularity come into play, and one of those things would give amai mask a huge boost, being probably the most popular hero in the whole association. Zombie Man is actually very intelligent, meaning you not only have to fight his powers, but him changing up on you.
That said, Amai being mid rank is probably pretty accurate. That said, S rank is kind of murky on how they do it. For example, way back during Boros' arc, we see Darkshine tell Xenos to back off Takamaki "Because she'll kill you." And yet told Takamaki to do the same to King because "He'll kill you." While the reader knows that King isn't actually that strong, he's ranked 7 while Takamaki is ranked 2. So my guess is that strength isn't what dictates rank. My guess is popularity comes into consideration, as well as willingness to commit to other areas. Hell, Watchdog Man has routinely been shown to be disturbingly powerful, to the point where he easily dispatches Garou early on, has the lowest crime in his district, and was the first to deal with his district's monster association problems. That said, he refuses to move from it. But if we went by strength alone, i'd say he's probably a match for even Atomic Samurai or maybe even Bang before retirement.
So i'd say S-rank is more a mix between "Popularity, Power, and Reliability". Blast is likely the only hero who gets by on power and perhaps popularity alone, as we see he's definately worthy of his title as the Hero Association's best, but is pretty unreliable.

Amai mask is actually a monster who was originally an ugly man who got monsterised due to his insecurities about his face. He can transform into his ugly form and become strong enough to bully a dragon level monster.
In the webcomic we never know his real face. He kept wearing a mask, he even stole the documents from the hero society that have his face in them. He was so obsessed with his face being hidden to the point that he turned into a monster, and when someone finally took it off. They didnt see a monster, but a very handsome man.

Honestly I don’t think or at least see Amai mask defeating metal bat and zombie man. The reason why is because metal gets stronger the longer the fight last and he almost got Gorou in his fight if it wasn’t for his sister and for zombie man his regeneration ability is insane and it was confirmed the only way to defeat zombie man was by putting him in a meat grinder and shredding him into minced meat 😅. Other than that I feel like Amai if he fought these two individually he would get exhausted and lose especially with zombie man. This is what I THINK would happen.
