It's not the fps that matters, it's how you use those frames. Simply adding frames in-between is meaningless and removes the intentional hangs in movement and emphasis the animators put.
In truth, 60 frames is too much for animators to make full use of, especially in anime where repeating frames is essential to cutting costs and putting emphasis on scenes. You just end up with 10 repeated frames instead of 5. As much as people try to undermine the importance of framerate from a gaming standpoint, it makes a huge difference not in what you see, but in the feedback you get. Getting 120 updates per second for your imputs is far better than getting only 60. For media that doesn't require input and only outputs, any framerate is perfectly fine, especially if the creators specifically design around such framerate.
Also this interpolation crap makes a lot of smeared feames, it looks really cheap.
