Resellers are ruining the culture. I got my first pair of Chicago Jordan 1s in 1995 for 110 Euros. Now you have to pay 30x that. You got people that never want to wear their kicks buy all the stock and sell it at 2-10 times the price to those that actually want to wear their shoes. Real Gs wear their kicks and if they get something they don't plan to wear they sell it for retail (+ a small commission if they do it for money). My collection of OG Kobe's is worth around 14k (I paid a bit less than 2k in total ) now that he's passed . I didn't make a single penny off them. I gave most of them to promising young hoopers, either for what I paid for them or as gifts. I see a lot of perfectly serviceable pairs sitting on collections waiting to be bought by other collectors. Shoes are meant to be worn and hoop shoes are mean to hoop in.

Everyone now calls them reps and knows that they don’t come from the same factory hence why there are batches 2. Although reps aren’t exactly 1:1 they get pretty fucking close where at some points they literally look better quality than retail because of Nike’s shit QC at the moment. 3. For for most mass produced releases they are able to get the same materials by having insider info on where they buy their materials. That or they’re able to get insanely similar materials by getting sheets of materials from the real factories and finding or making the closest material possible 4. Black lights don’t do much since all you have to do is apply some heat with a hairdryer and the guide lines will disappear. Nike’s shoes literally use guide lines they just remove them afterwards. 5. The sole falling off makes no sense. They go through the exact same process making reps as they do real pairs. They use the exact same glue and usually the same machines to make the shoes. Most of the time the only way to check if pairs are fake is by checking the paper that comes in the box, checking the insole stitching or the glue pattern on the bottom of the insole. Where all of those you can’t even see when wearing the shoe
I doubt they use the same machines. Reps go through a more hand-made process, with a higher chance of imperfections, more specifically not getting the correct shape. In real pairs, there might be some quality control issues but the shape is always on point. Also just because of the quality or glue looks really similar on the reps doesn’t actually make it the “same”.

Nike and adidas don’t have their own special glue they just buy their glue off a distributor so the rep factories buy off the same supplier. And it’s about 50/50 with the machines used. The sewing machines aren’t the same which is why there are imperfections with the insole stitching, but they’ll use the same moulding machines and stuff to create the outsole and other things like that. Nike shoes are also sewn together by workers, just Nike will discard of the pairs that aren’t very good quality while rep factories kind of quality check them and then split them into groups based on their grade then sell them off as either A or B grade, but Nike’s QC is much stricter so reps tend to have more flaws but the best pairs are the exact same to retail apart from the purposeful flaws to avoid them being sold as real
