- Today im testing all of the most popular sneaker cleaners available one the market. Every sneaker cleaner claims to be the best and have ingredients that will clean your sneaker better than anything else so i tested them all up against what you already have at home, regular old detergent. In this video i use Reshoevn8r, Crep Protect, FZ150 by shoedoc, Jason Markk and Detergent.
Let me know what you think of sneaker cleaners down in the comments below!

When I see the foam I'm in the zone!
Let’s see if shoe doc reacts to it 😂😂
I say that to my girl too.
No, when I see the zone I’m in the foam
I just saved myself a 150 bucks
Hahahah love it
I restore and clean sneakers. Been doing it since 5 years and here's what I've learned:
- The Cleaner is not the key product, it's the brushes and rinsing, rinsing and even more rinsing:
I personally use 3 to 4 brushes. A soft one, a medium one and a stiff and brass bristled one for the soles. For tougher stains, a magic eraser works wonders. Rinse the shoe, once you're done with one brush. Once I'm done with the entire shoe, I rinse it under the shower, with a lot of pressure and squeeze out the water of the sock liner material 2-3 times. Washing machine is optional. Ps: I use castile soap (1 L on amazon = 12 bucks. Can use it for about 100 pairs)
- Different materials need different approaches of stain removal. F.e. if you have a canvas shoe, you need to do a ton of rinsing. Dirt can reaaaally sink deep down into the canvas material and needs to be lifted. If you don't want to rinse your shoe for about an hour, you can clean it normally, put it into the washing machine and wrap it in toilet paper afterwards. The leftover crud will rise up into the toilet paper.
This is just my approach of cleaning sneakers. You don't need to spend 20-50$ or more on cleaning supplies. Time and patience is key here. And I know it's a lot, I know hahaha. But that's just how I do things and my customers come back every time. Just wanted to to leave you guys with some advice here and it's up to you, if you wanna take it. :)
Like my comment so I can come back to this
What's your approach for cleaning suede shoes?
Fz150 is superior nothing is touching it
@@JaredEvans Brushing off the visible dirt first. Then more brushing with a brass bristle brush. Timberlands are easy to clean like that. A Suede eraser can work for tougher stains. If needed, you can clean them with some castile soap after that, but always shake off the water from the brush. Too much water can cause the suede to bleed. Once it is dry, get a medium or brass bristled brush and reset the nap of the suede. Done. :)
Some more tips: If you have access to a compressed air gun, you can blow off the dirt, after brushing the visible dirt off. And in some cases, you can use 600-800 grid sand paper for really tough stains and scratches.
This was kind of a pointless experiment because you didn’t exactly use the cleaners like they’re designed to be used. By leaving all the crap all over the sneakers when you start, you’re essentially just mashing it all back in. You should have started by (again) washing off all of the extra mud, chocolate, coffee, hot sauce… that way the cleaners are going what they’re designed to do… work on the surface level dirt and stains. The first thing these cleaners tell you to do is remove all the extra gunk and dry brush the shoe to remove everything but the stains before cleaning. All you did was point out that if you clean gunk WITH gunk, you’ll still always have gunk.
even if you do all that , the results would be kind of the same. Cuz detergent is also as good. Paying extra for shoe cleaner is not at all necessary.
Detergent will still win though😂
Exactly, the tool doesn’t matter
@@ryanlusanta5124 Would it though? I’ve watched those shoe cleaning vids by reshoevn8r and they can get those shoes looking brand new. All Elliot did was make them about 80% clean and call it a draw. I’m curious what the end result would have looked like for each had he cleaned them properly. That’s why I said this was a pointless experiment.
you are right but that point its irrelevant to this video, just use what you have guys.
I have tried multiple and fz150 is the best so far especially if you follow directions
@PakiCrown bro fz150 would destroy soap don’t buy soap and save yourself 150 bucks
@PakiCrownnot really I tried many fz 150 is the best
As someone who purchased Jason Markk, Reshoevn8r and Crep over the years, I can say that dish soap/detergent + baking soda is easily as good if not better than paying $$ for said products. When I was 10 years younger I was so scared of dishsoap "damaging" my precious sneakers so I went on buying expsnive cleaners when they are just condensed soap themselves.
People don't realize most sneakers (barring some suede ones) can just be tossed into washer with gentle cycle and won't get damaged.
dish soap is harsh, i used to use it when i was younger, its bad because it drys out leather and nubuck, it also causes the glue at midsole seams to turn a nasty yellow, jason mark and resh8ner dont do that.
Good to know
@@airtec87except most shoes barely have leather anymore. Most have very low quality leather and tons of plastic finishing on top. And all that nubuck is fake too.
Took your advice, threw my Louboutins in the washer. I'm pissed
@@InTheMindOfficial throwing a real leather sneaker into the washer won't ruin them after one wash. Nice try though.
Elliot just saved himself 150 bucks!

Bro can’t even clean shoes right💀💀
That’s what am saying bro he was scrubing it like someone with parkynson
😂
Scrubbing like he has girly hands 💀
He was supposed to rinse it then scrub it off with the chemicals…. These kids have no idea wtf they doing
Watch out! The sneaker cleaning industry is gunning for Elliot. We must protect him!!
Damn is big sneaker cleaner coming??👀
@@elliotpage_when you do that much damage you got to use the sneaker cleaners laundry kit but not all of brands have a kit, cleaning it alone won’t do the job
@@elliotpage_ nah shoe doc gonna foam you up brudda
Yeah
Protect this man at all cost
You are supposed to rinse dirt and other stuff first and apply the cleaner after so cleaner can work on shoe surface rather then rubbing the dirt more into sneakers
Dude barely scrubbed any of the pairs lol
I use straight hand soap liquid, soft-medium brush, melanine sponge (aka magic eraser) and micro fiber towel. After cleaning, my shoes look like brand new every time.
1. Rinse the shoe
2. Add some hand soap liquid with little water, just to make good foam, then use the brush and start scrubbing
3. Wipe all the dirty foam
4. Rinse the shoe
5. Use magic eraser for mid sole and upper to remove any left over dirt or stains
6. Rinse the shoe again
done.
The shoelaces, just the same: add some water with liquid soap in a cup, let the shoelaces in there for 1 - 2 min to soak, then with a lot of foam, was them by hand for 30 seconds, rinse and they're white, brand new.
Don't buy any "special" kits... you're paying only for the brand and for those bottles with liquid soap that may or not contain some chemicals to make your shoe look 5% better than using normal liquid soap.
Just buy 1 or 2 decent brushes and you're done.
People might think you're cleaning it wrong (no shoetree, no wiping, etc.). The real test is to collab with Theshowlorios, VickAlmighty, Jason Markk. same shoes, 5 different people. make it a series/episode if you can't invite them.
Yeah honestly I was thinking the same thing. I mean obviously he isn’t going to put in 100% effort to take lots of time and really get into the small areas to clean the shoes, but I feel like because of that the results were skewed.
@@aadesignscustomsthe cleaning order also effected the results, if it really did take 10-20 min per shoe then the ones cleaned later had longer for the dirt to set in
That’s gonna earn damn views too.
I'm so pleased no expensive sneakers were harmed in the making of this video.
I'm not, I wanted to see AF1s, Jordan 1 Carnage.
@@elmaster6207 same lol
I’ve only used the reshoevenator and fz150 and the fz150 is the only cleaner that I think works on shoes and it is better then laundry detergent
fz150 is not that good
You just were in the zone bro
@@pranay4059How do you know?

I've used Scrubbing bubbles bathroom cleaner on ALL of my sneakers for years and it works great! That with hot water and a dish towel, cleans bottoms and fabrics too. The key to keeping icy bottoms clear also is to clean them with EACH wear and rinse with hot water.. Free game.
I’m guessing what the shoe cleaners really offer other than a good cleaning is also conditioning the materials for normal real life wear . Although this was an excellent video it was a bit on the extreme side and I don’t think people would normally get their shoes this dirty in one day lol .. great video bro keep up the great work
That was my first thought people do not get they shoes this freaking filthy.
@@rosalindgentry6633 not only that, he didn't brush off the excess. That is a must or else you are just mixing in the excess dirt back into the shoe
detergent will do the same thing but over the time the rubber on or shoe will start to oxydise real quick because of the chemicals detergents.....whereas shoe cleaners are made without these chemicals that harm your shoe..!
You should do one of these but for Sneaker Prtotector Sprays
Man I hate walking through the mall and trying to avoid those shoe cleaning dudes. Every one of them wearing panda dunks, got the nerve to yell to me across the mall “Yo Fire Red 4s, come over here and let me holla at you for a quick sec!” Boy I unDS’d these today you better let me be 😂😂😂
When they call out my shoe I say “That’s what these are? Cool and keep walking”
@@5lhorse476 oh I like that. That’s good
Lol they tried to get me when wearing my black cat 4s for the second time and they still look brand new. I said look at my shoes bro, I'm good ✌️
You just saved your self $150 bucks
i think it really would be an important test in suede but for this one definitely detergent
Toothpaste and baking soda is a good one. The grittiness helps breakdown a bit more dirt.
i can see genuine fun and passion in this video. this was really informative. keep it up!
You forgot to say that you just saved yourself a hundred fifty bucks
U were supposed to use a canvas type shoe like vans or a suede type shoe… when u dirty all leather shoes like that its super easy to clean even with dawn soap and water it comes off 😂🫵🏽
"Cheap labour" got me💀😂😂
I watched those videos of shoe cleaning stuff, and I'm not convinced, using detergent is definitely good enough and safe toour kicks' materials. Been using detergent and toothbrush for decades. (Early 2000s).
Great job by the way. This is indeed an eye opener. Keep it up.
I put mine in the washing machine on a 40c with biological detergent. I pop some towels in the machine but anything that wont run will do the friction help to do the cleaning and lessens the noise.
Damn, I really appreciate it bro you save me from the FZ150 I was thinking of buying. I kinda clean my shoes with shampoo/degreaser at home & tbh they don’t come out bad & I clean them pretty good. I wanted to try FZ150 due to the promotional videos but you saved me from it. Much appreciated 🙏🏼
are yall actually cleaning these shoes fr or wat ? fz150 is great ive had plenty resales on shoes
I have fz150 and it works great. You really need to scrub the shit out of shoes with stains as bad as these. In the case of this video, I’m positive (all) the shoes would have looked better with some more elbow grease. Dish soap or detergent will Forsure work, but I like supporting fz150. Also, it’s safe on all colors and materials. When I see the foam I’m in my zone
He didn’t clean the shoes right before applying FZ150. He didn’t pre wash the gunk like it says to do
@@daytripping So you say you tried FZ150 and pure curiosity how does it work when painting the white button of shoes?
He used all of these poorly only relying on the solution rather than getting that gunk off first so it straight up just mixed into the materials
I’ve used the fz-150 and it’s cleaned very great everytime. I’m not sure how you cleaned but fz-150 works everytime and is basically a miracle solution.
Never used shoe cleaners before as I’m someone who just accepts that shoes get dirty and ruined but now that I have some shoes I care about I bought the fz150 kit. It genuinely works really well maybe it’s not the best but I wouldn’t know but for my shoes I couldn’t be happier! I saved myself a hundred and fifty bucksss
You didn’t use the fz150 correct
Scrub the fz150 harder into the shoe and it will remove all stains
From my experience when cleaning ‘sensitive’ textures and colors e.i. the nubuck on the Lightening and Cactus Jack 4’s Jason Mark is the best/safest.
Everything else, just throw it in the washing machine with whatever detergent and air dry.
If you want to maximize the clean, brush it off and do a basic clean with soap and brushes like normal then throw it in the washing machine.
Thanks for giving a review regarding to this shoe cleaners available from the market. This is want we need to see what brand is the best. You’re the best bro!
Shoe doc be like “he…he just umm faked it yea yea he he just faked it"
When I made a video saying Fz150 really doesn’t work the fanboys had a lot to say. I wonder if they’re going to do the same with you
Hi Elliot, can you please make a video about sneaker protect products as well?
Dude doesnt know how to wash shoes
Good toothbrush and laundry detergent always did the trick for me besides, I’ve never let my shoes get that messy…
Yeah Dawn is the way to go but after you rinse em your supposed to scrub em again with the soap then rinse em again
I feel like you didn’t really clean them out a real sneaker head clean shoes to make sure they’re clean you just scrubbed them
Exactly what I was saying he should’ve scrubbed then rinsed twice
Fz150 is a good general cleaner. Just like most others. Not a fan of the staged/ fake videos. Like the one where he insinuated a pair of orange lobsters were skated but they didn’t have a single scuff on them. Or the video where he cleaned a pair of sport blue 3s and the elephant print was completely different in the first and final shots. Don’t get me wrong, he’s great at marketing but I’m just not a fan of giving people false hope, like it’ll work miracles and get rid of actual scuffs
Ngl i think a lot of it is just repainting the shoes to look new
Need 1 more time foam to get on the zoom 😂😂
Bro thats a chefs coat😭
You should use 90% power on fz150 just like shou doc and then you're in the zone 👍
Them wearing brand new clean clothes & white socks jumping in the mud made me mad lol
POV when shoe dr sees the video: You weren’t in the zoneeeee
I mean you can use dish soap to clean ur shoes. They have a lot of the same ingredients these shoe cleaners do. And I think the FZ150 didn’t work for you as well is because you just foamed one brush up and used that for the whole shoe even after you changed brushed w no cleaner on it. That might have changed the transformation a bit
I have order Fz-150 online 3 weeks ago and my first
Cleaning mission was on a pair of 312 Jordan's Low Legacy who were beyond dirty and they need some Fz -150 the foam and brush quality is so good that i didnt even remove the shoe Laces i just pump that Foam
I was defintly in tha Zone and the results absolute flawless i mean white and fckin shiny like straight out of the Box i just save myself 150 buks
Shoe doctor and his Magical Fz-150 are 100% THE most eficient sneakers cleaning product out there
Also if you like my buddy who would often wear his Timberlands to the pub and spill beverages all over his lovely nubuck leather shoes. As I'm sure we all know nubuck is notorious for being impossible to clean so when they get really bad hit him with a bit of fine grit sandpaper. just don't work the stitches too much, you just wanna take the very thin layer off the top and underneath will be beautiful.
Lmao the white coat is legit 😂😂😂😂😂
Peppa Pig “I love jumping in muddy puddles!”
Them:
The real question is which one can clean the adidas boost? That material is extremely difficult to turn white again.
Moral of the story:
1.) Don't do a peppa pig with good shoes. (Don't play in the mud)
2.) Don't put Sriracha on your shoes.
3.) Don't put Prime energy drinks on your shoes.
the best combo is Laundry detergent and hydrogen peroxide, it does the job really well and it disinfected it. the best in my opinion
Unrealistic stains but expecting high results, especially when a brand would suggest you throw them in the wash for those kind of stains.
8:20 u have to use the hard brush the white one and use need to dip it in water after u pump it also u need to rub is hard
I just had a seizure reading this
Can you make a video on how to clean the yellow midsole? Like ultraboost or something. Thanks!
Fz 150 sale some kind of gel for that! Look it up
Did the mexican penguin accent while using his product 🤣🤣😂😂😂
Funny, informative, & different type of vid! Continued success Elliot!
Clorox 2 for color sneakers or regular Clorox for white shoes , leave in for 2 hours depending on material and use different brushes and rinse until get the results you are looking for
bro the sound effects putting that chocolate on was horrendous lmao
I like this video. Great alternative to what is usually posted. Helps folks realize whether any of these products are worth it
Fz150 makes your shoes smell like cheap detergent. I am not sure why they use a nasty fragrance on their cleaner.
I just stole myself a $150 bucks
Wonderful concept & a video I'm personally glad someone did. Thanks for the great content!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Shoe cleaners are not meant for cleaning heavy stains. I've personally used different shoe cleaners including detergents. From my experience, their advantage over detergents is they clean your shoes using milder chemicals yet more efficiently than detergents, without using too much water, and finishing it off by just wiping out with a microfiber cloth - no water rinsing needed, without an evidence of white soap residues after.
Best tip ever, a persil pod emptied out mixed with water, will clean 10 shoes easily.
Damn, so you mean to tell me that you didn't save $150 bucks? I have Shoe MGK, Crept, and FZ150. I dont really use them often but I do use them and I agree, I can never get my shoes as clean as the FZ150 dude does.
you should have bought the cloth/wnit/mesh ones as they absorb way more dirt and are harder to clean
you forgot to put them in the washer lol
Yeah man I been using tide detergent for years and is still better than any shoe cleaner or even stain remover (like Shout) that I've ever used and is like 50x cheaper than anything else. This video is 100% correct, just get a good brush and you'll be good to go with laundry detergent.
In countries with carpet culture we even have brushes at home
I don't know about those other ones, but the fz150 is on deck at my house
I got the basic rejuvenator kit and I've got 10 pair of shoes mostly Jordan all Nike the only thing I would suggest is maybe getting a bigger bottle of the solution because as you said the doctor phone you could really smell the chemicals the rejuvenator is all natural you can drink it and won't get sick ! All in all I've cleaned 5 pr.s so far! Didn't get the laundry bag. I think that would help a lot!
Yeah I got the full rejuven8r kit with the laundry bad and detergent pods it does make a huge difference…If u don’t wanna do all that FZ150 did a great job and it conditioned my Bred 4s really well
Bro...some constructive criticism :
Its only only about how clean the final result was. U could/should have rated how enjoyable or hard was the cleaning experience itself.
Thanks for the video. Im using my detergent and NOT ordering any of these products i I was interested in.
I just saved myself ~$40 Canadian.
Regular detergent will damage sneaker over time if it is leather specially. You need to at least use saddle soap or something less harsh.
Philips sneaker cleaner is a really goodt thing to buy and just use detergent along with it. Soak it for a while in front load detergent before you start to scrub.
When they are that dirty u gotta rinse them down first then scrub once u get all the excess off
Best bet is to get some Dawn power wash spray works wonders!
you didn't clean off the excess debris
The one thing I will give reshoevn8r is that the brushes aren't bad and getting all 3 levels of stiffness is nice. Baking soda and detergent still work best though, especially with some oxiclean if they're super bad
You should have also done shoe mgk. Thats what I use.
Start the SCRUBBING and give it that shoelada LOVING🤣
A mixture of OxiClean powder, Dawn dish detergent (free and clear or platinum), warm water and a nail brush. Does the job every time!!! For white laces, same mixture with a few drops of color safe bleach.
Oxyclean bleeds some color so I'm careful to use it.
As a mom the first thing I would jump to is magic eraser.. next would be a toothbrush or soft scrub brush along with either some Awesome then Oxyclean. Dry with microfiber then air dry.
What's unrealistic about this and why it just feels like clickbait it's because these aren't really dirty shoes.. sneakers get dirty from everyday environmental stuff, with a lot of it getting actually scuffed into the rubber.. long-term tests would have been better because this just feels like you could have actually rinsed all of these shoes off and been on your way.. This isn't what these products were intended for but honestly I wouldn't spend a dime on them. I don't believe any of these cleaners are scientifically manufactured for this purpose and wouldn't be surprised if some of these would just literally tinted Windex style cleaners. Branded of course.
4:18 now we know, it scientific fact, plain house hold water is the best cleaner😂
That’s crazy you say that because my personal preference was Jason mark I grew up on that brand and usually sticking to what I know works best because I have my routine I really thought it would come out on top ! And the crepe has a very strong Lysol 🍋 odor to it
You're supposed to put the shoes in a sneaker laundry bag and throw them in the washer. Plus you didn't use all of the FZ150 products like his white leather paint/wipe.
Snkkr bar wasn't on here and they was one of the first I'd ever seen doing this
When you see the foam your losing your zone lmfao
everyone always avoids mentioning mechanical oil, black gear oil or whatever that is, when the tire of something too makes my sneaker gum black, that shit is unfixable and no cleaner can fix it im sure..
Worst video results ever. If you use detergent on your sneakers they will be trashed. The detergent for clothes is not meant to be used so concentrated and brushed in plus the harsh chemicals will eventually dry out the leather that's why most good sneaker cleaners have a conditioner. As I've tried fz150 and reshoevanator the fz150 worked best leaving the most supple feeling material and best cleaning action . Unless your cleaning some chuck taylors canvas throw aways i wouldn't recommend detergent. Plus you followed none of the products recommended practices so a bit disingenuous on your part.
Finally. Ive been waiting for this kind of video
Perhaps not for this extreme condition? I don't know about yiu guys but i do clean my sneakers regularly, like whenever i got home, when theres little stains, wont let my sneakers reach this☝️ extreme
My shoes have been in much worse condition than the test ones he made. And I get them pretty clean with powder detergent that I have lying around but I clean my shoes in different stages than he does. I mean you gotta rinse them too before you start cleaning them.
I feel like you should make more then one session of scrubbing plus solution especially for the fz150
I got one more test for you just throw them in a cold cycled washing machine with your ordinary laundry detergent. As long as the water is not hot and you don't have fake leather that's flaking off the mechanical action of a washing machine washing detergent just perfect.
