You’re on the right lines Jof ! Lightweight, agility and an easy drive makes for a stress free holiday in our experience.
I think it’s the way to go Jonathan, think we started collecting far too much along the way.
Like you say better handling, better on the hills better fuel consumption & general wear and tear, tyre wear..💯👆🏨🚐👌
Great vlog jof really interesting 👍 ❤ Chris/ Jan
@@ChristopherWilliamson-n2q thanks for tagging along Chris 👆💯🏨🚐❤️
Hi Jof.
Fold up lightweight chairs you can carry over your shoulder (easy). I have a portable ceramic hob for cooking outside when on hookup. Also, use it with the Aferiy power bank. Can't wait to see how you bling the new van.
Clive.
@@London-q4i many thanks Clive, it’s going to be exciting times for us sorting out everything.🏨🚐💯🙏
Jof, we have a 5.8 metre Swift 612 2 berth, and always mindful of weight. Before a trip to Lake Annecy last year we put it on a weighbridge to check. Our maximum weight is 3500kg. Fully loaded with full tank of fuel, chairs, food, clothes etc, it weighed in at 3.040kg. However, we are going to do the same as you and trim things down. We have Isabella folding chairs which are comfortable, but take a lot of space when we are limited for storage. My wife Trish says your new campervan must be called Valentine, as being collected on Feb 14th!
Tell Trish thank you that’s a perfect name ❤️👆
Absolutely Roger, occasionally it’s good to step back and re access sometimes, great to see you were well within your weight there.👌🚐🏨💯
Morning Joff. We have recently switched our Cadac Safari Chef 2 to run off the canisters. Last summer we went through a canister and a half but it rained a lot. We changed from bigger bottle for the flexibility and not having to carry an extra bottle for it as the on board one is tucked away and hard to get at. It was great and hubby loved it. The bbq itself fed us as a family of four. The bag itself doesn’t fit in our storage very well though so we are trialling this year a tappanyaki grill on the same principle we have an emergency power bank for my CPAP in case the ehu trips in the night. We can move it outside as it is a smaller one Anker Solix C1000 so compact and light. The grill is flat and thin and fits under the seat. We have a garage full of chairs 🤦 our most used chairs now are two tripod stools for versatility. Geoff has a big Westfalia chair as he likes it. Me and my daughters share two hammock chairs we got from Costco in the Sale. We have never been short or argued over 3 chairs between 4 as we have the stools and in fairness we don’t sit around a lot and the teenager likes to sit on her own in the van or in bed. We too have a van that is set up to go with just the addition of clothes, food, wash bags. The food can be popped the night before as clothes so wash bags and go. We have 2 awnings a big air one for longer stays and a smaller one for shorter trips or when we just need for storage. Often we don’t use them. We have gone this time from trailer tent with humongous storage to small 5.4m pop top camper so very limited storage. It is amazing what you actually need to what you think you need. It is so liberating not having lots of stuff. Enjoy experimenting.
@@Moonlightshadw1 as always thanks for the information really appreciated, you sound very similar to us chairs, stoves grills finding out what works best.
All parts of the fun 🤩 🙏💯🚐🏨
I can’t wait to see how much stuff you can leave at home, what an opportunity to re-evaluate just what you need. Going over to a van will give you so many options - you tubers ‘life to short’ use magnetic cctv once they park up - exciting times for you both and for subscribers. 😊🎉 🚐
@@LinsGedz we are so excited about the options Lindsay, we have definitely taken far too much much in the past just have to try to remember the passports 🤔🍷💯🏨🚐
@ 😂😂😂 mmm…. Yes don’t forget those. Regarding chairs we know a few people who have gone for the OEX ultralight camping chair. But I think you both need to visit a few places that sell chairs and try a load out. You want some comfort while you watch the sunsets 👍😊🚐
@ absolutely Lindsay, need the comfort and the lightness 🏨🚐💯🙏
Hi Jof ‘ we have a 6.4mtr coach built Rapido it’s an ideal size, great for parking for supplies pitching up on the cozy wee campsites it’s size is more like a campervan. Lately we have used our small camping stove with the attached hot plate a great piece of equipment more than the 3 burner hob it just makes life easier. Looking at your new joy on 4 wheels with the fantastic interior it’s kinda like a motorhome finish inside camper on the outside so maybe it’s a camper home Mm 😀
All The Best ☕️🚐👍
@@gordonbaxter6325 many thanks Gordon appreciate you following along 👌🏨🚐💯
Zempire Stargazer chairs fold easily and fit well into our Campervan, but are still sturdy enough to be comfortable.
Many thanks Neil will check them out 👆👌🚐💯
Congratulations, really happy for you both. Can’t beat a bit of retail therapy! Regards lighten-up, will be really interested on your views with the LED Headlights on your new Van? Are they an improvement on the poor bulb headlights that many comments on-line always alluding to with older models headlights, even new models, if coming with bulbs?
The UK company Laser based in Essex, do an integrated road legal kit to support and enhance the headlights on the grill that comes with your new van, so you have a solution if your headlights are not good for your night time driving requirements. Unfortunately for us, we have the new looking front grill Fiat van, where the company Laser with its lights, do not have kits for these new Van grills and may not decide to build a kit for these new Van grills (Cost/Time benefit would be a guess).
We are now searching for a company that would be prepared to adapt and fit road legal Laser type lights to the new front grill, as my Wife, struggles with night time driving, without decent headlights. The issue, is having in them integrated with the Van headlights so they are legal, where large spots attached to the bonnet or light bars on the roof, are not legal in UK for when driving on roads. Off road, these road ‘illegal’ lights are great, but how many people truly take their Vans off road & at night!
I understand why you have kept with the same living accommodation manufacturer, as it is what you know and like. The only shame for us, is it is not a British manufacturer. Supporting British jobs and people is always a top priority for me & the wife, but that is a personal view I understand. Shame no real British Van manufacturers exists anymore, but the days of the UK being a manufacturing country have long gone and finding any British company that does still manufacturer, we find important to support, same as British Beef, farming, etc. Anyway, I digress!
Safe travels and have a Vantastic Valentines both of you.
@@peromalmstrom7668 thanks so much for all the information, very much appreciated and will keep you up to speed on the developments 🚐🏨💯👌
