That was the most helpful video I have ever seen on the 4-cable method. It all clicked when you said "it's like I'm playing straight into my FX return". I plugged directly into my FX return and it sounded like crap, than you added the loop and it finally clicked. Man thank you!
Worth noting is that you can trigger the TMP amp block to disable and the loop to engage with 1 switch press if you program the switch to on/off both the amp and the loop pedal block. Furthermore, you could have a second amp block in the chain and set a second footswitch to engage that and kill the loop and then use the switch link function to put both footswitches into the same switch group so that no matter what footswitch mode you're on, you can always quickly cut to another setting on either footswitch and the TMP will "release" whatever mode it was previously on. It's an easy way to not have the TMP get confused in terms of "which mode am I supposed to be on" which CAN happen if you aren't linking the switches together.
Thank you for your video. I’ve set it up and works great only the looper doesn’t play back ? It appears to be recording but I can’t get it to play it back ? Any thoughts i what I could be doing wrong ? Thanks again 👍🏼
hey good video, but I have an issue. I am doing this 4CM with my Mesa Badlander, and when I add the FX loop and enable it, the volume goes drastically down. Not sure what is wrong.
Thanks for the video. I’m still slightly confused just because the terminology. I have a fender deluxe amp with preamp out and power amp in. Will that work using this method?
I have a stereo fender amp (2x12) mustang that i use to connect my FTMP using this method i have only one speaker working, what i need to do to have both speakers work as a stereo amp?
Thank you for your video. I was hoping you could help me with an issue: The volume coming from the Tone Master Loop is about 10% of the amp volume. I went to the preset settings and raised the volume there but it didn't help. Any thoughts? Thanks,
FYI: The amp is a Line Six Catalyst that I use in my practice studio. I play out with a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I haven't tried it with the Fender yet because it's at our rehearsal space. I'll that amp back tonight to give it a try,
I have a Diezel Herbert (mk2) which is MIDI controllable (the channels and functions). Can the tone master pro control my amp within a preset if I choose to do so etc? I’d like to use 4cm whereby I have effects either in front of the amp or in the FX loop, and also run some models in the clean channel. But would still like to use the Herbert’s crunch channel generally and use the TMPs effects in the loop as if they were on a rack tray etc. many thanks Essentially, I’m trying to get rid of my pedalboard with 4cm and having a separate switcher for the amp, replace with this one single system that does it all
When using 4cm shouldn’t the amp only model be after the effects loop on the TMP therefor bypassing the preamp of the real and only using the power section of the real amp?
If are the using the amp model and turning off the FX Loop 3 ( in my example) then all the blocks are going to the FX return anyways so the placement of the amp model before or after the FX Loop 3 block doesn't matter. When not using the amp model that block is bypassed so you will only be using the real amps preamp and any channel switching it may have.
I am running a 4cm with my Mesa Badlander, and i added the fx loop 3 block, with the fx block bypassed, perfect amp sound from the real amp, but when fx is on the volume goes down drastically! Clues? I already changed the loops, reinstalled firmaware, changed all the parameters I could and same thing. Is this a defective unit ?

Happy to help. You can apply this concept to any other guitar set
Thanks for this, went through so many videos to see how it runs through a real amp and not just a powered cab. 🤗
Glad it helped!

Great informative video doc, thanks. :)
Thank you so much. You saved my life right now. Everything working great. Of course like n subscribed 👍
It s strange you get sound without the S/R block....On the Boss GT1000 you don t. Nice video mate, thanks :)
When you bypass the FX Loop block you are breaking the 4CM connection and sending the output straight to the FX Return on the amp.
@@DoctorMcFarlandStudios Hi, ye, I got that, makes sense. Still this will not produce sound on the GT1000 with an amp. :)
When using a amp do you always have real amp on clean station I am using iconic 5150, thanks loved your video
with 4 cable method you can use both clean and dirty channels of the amp.
Thanks ! 👍🇨🇵
Inm gonna try 👍
And try to setup a two amps rig + one output for the PA (direct in the "sono")
Let's challenge this 🤘🇨🇵🇨🇵🥳

Is there an fx loop level on the back of the amp?

Sure will.
Thanks for the video. Will this work if my amp has preamp out and power amp in?
Preamp Out is your Send and Power amp In is your Return. Same connections.
@@DoctorMcFarlandStudios thanks again. I think I tried it and wasn’t getting much volume at all. I’ll double check the way I hooked it up.

are you using the FX return of the amp or the Amp input?
TM Loop 3 Send to amp instrument input. Amp effects loop Send to TM Return.
TM Output to amp effects loop Return.@@DoctorMcFarlandStudios
Everything works great with the Hot Rod Deluxe. Thanks again for your video. Saved me a boat load of time trying to figure it out

The TMP has some MIDI options but I haven't gotten into all that yet. I would read up on the manual for more information.
great, this saves you from buying the cabinet.
