Mentality is just as important as physicality. The reason Real Madrid was known for comebacks, and Spain for their composed play style was because Casillas acted like the game was level even when they were losing. I like to tell myself that it's still 0-0 even when we are losing.
That’s such a great mindset! You’re absolutely right-mentality is just as crucial as physicality, especially in high-pressure situations. Casillas is a perfect example of staying calm and composed no matter the score. Telling yourself it’s still 0-0 is a great way to keep focused and avoid letting the pressure get to you. Thanks for the tip 💪🧤
Thanks so much! 🎉 I’m glad you found the tips helpful, and you’re right - these can definitely help tall keepers too! No matter the height, it’s all about applying the right technique and mindset. Appreciate the support! 💪⚽
Another great video. I think being small when learning to be a GK is an advantage as it encourages you to learn the correct techniques. You can’t just stick out a hand, you have to move fast, work on positioning and be able to dive.
Thanks a lot! 🙌 You’re absolutely right - being smaller while learning to be a goalkeeper forces you to really focus on the fundamentals. You have to sharpen your positioning, speed, and diving because you can’t rely on just size or reach. It builds a solid foundation that makes you a better keeper in the long run. Glad you’re enjoying the videos, and thanks for sharing your insights! 💪⚽🧤

How can i get better reflection with out any one to train with bcuz i am alone loving football and wants to play football any time .....ao can i upgrade my reflection alone?
Hey bro... I just wanted to ask since you've once played pro. Is the length of the goalpost from one end to the other about 8 yards apart also in the pro leagues? Or it's bigger not like in the amateur leagues?
Hey brother :) I have actually never played professionally. Which you'll see in my next video ;) But I can assure you that the goalposts 8 yds (7.32 m) apart and front ground up to the bar is 8 ft (2.44 m) :)
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping thanks bro. One last thing. What is the thing you do or tell yourself before a striker shoots. Of course you have to be in your ready position in the perfect place closing the angle down. Then what is next? Do you just keep reminding yourself in your mind that you have to react quickly to the ball? Or you remind yourself to just look at how the ball is coming and decide if you will just do a collapse dive, maybe a one step shuffle and a dive, or maybe just a step and a dive? I know this might sound weird... But I'm just trying to know cause sometimes I perform good and sometimes I perform very very bad. Maybe it's my mindset of how I prepare myself before the oncoming shot.
That’s a great question, and it doesn’t sound weird at all! What you’re talking about is something a lot of goalkeepers think about. Your mindset and preparation before a shot can make a big difference in how you perform. Here’s what I do and what you can try: Stay calm and focused: The key is to remain relaxed but alert. If you’re too tense, it’s harder to react quickly. I focus on keeping my breathing steady and staying calm while looking at the striker and the ball. Read the ball and body language: Before the shot, I focus on the ball and the striker’s body language (especially their plant foot and hips). This helps me get clues about where the ball might go. Trust your instincts: Once I’m in position, I try not to overthink. It’s important to trust your training and instincts. Yes, you can think about the type of dive (collapse dive, one-step, etc.), but it should be more instinctive. Overthinking can slow down your reaction time. Try to clear your mind as much as possible. React, don’t guess: I tell myself to react to the ball, not guess. As soon as you see the shot being taken, your body should just respond. Sometimes you’ll dive early, and sometimes it’s about waiting a split second longer to read the shot properly. It's all about how your defenders are positioned: if it's a central shot, you hope your defenders cover one side so you can have the other. If it's an angled shot, and you're in a good position, I try to wait as a long as possible but it's already quite difficult to score. It might help to focus less on doing everything “perfectly” and more on staying present in the moment. Trust your training, stay calm, and let your instincts take over. Your mindset going into the shot can definitely impact your performance, so practicing staying relaxed and confident is key. Keep working at it - you’ll find consistency as you go! 💪⚽🧤

Hey, of course I remember you! Hey buddy. I have a whole program about that. But try searching this channel. There is SO much content about training on your own. I believe that is the biggest factor that will determine if people "make it" or not! Self-training is SO important
Ok thank you so much for this also i trained for around an hour last night and i plan to do that every day should i practice longer i really want to “make it” to at least a good collage team. I watched ur vids from a bit ago about self training so thank you for being so helpful and i think its so cool you help other younger kids get better.
Training on the pitch for one hour a day is excellent. Try to keep your session as short and focused as possible. Of course, that's why I created the channel. But thank you for your kind words, it really means a lot! :)
176 cm is a solid height for 16! Keep in mind that many keepers are still growing at your age, so there’s a good chance you’ll get taller. Even if you don’t, what matters most is your skill, technique, and positioning. Focus on mastering the basics, improving your footwork, and building your confidence. Great goalkeepers come in all sizes, and with hard work, you can excel regardless of height. Keep going - you’re on the right track! 💪🧤⚽
Hey buddy. Yes, those can be a bit tricky. But the most important thing is not being too far off your line. If you're standing close to the goal line, it should be a lot more difficult to hit any shot over your head.
Haha, I get you! 😂 Indoor with walled nets definitely changes the game a bit, and yeah, hearing 6' being called short can be tough, especially when you’re under 5'10". But remember, height isn’t everything in goalkeeping. Plenty of shorter keepers have excelled because they focus on technique, agility, and positioning. It’s all about making the most of your strengths, so don’t sweat the height jokes - you can still be a beast in goal! 💪🧤⚽
At 5'8", it’s totally normal to feel a bit shorter compared to taller goalkeepers, but don’t let that discourage you! It’s all about maximizing your strengths. Here are a few tips to help: Positioning: Make sure your positioning is spot on. Being in the right place at the right time can make up for height. Explosiveness: Work on your jumping and agility so you can reach those high shots and crosses with ease. Confidence: Own your space and be vocal. A confident keeper, no matter their height, can dominate the box. Many great keepers aren’t super tall, so focus on what you can control, and you’ll feel more confident under the bar! You’ve got this! 💪🧤⚽
Being short is very "broad" but ideally, you want to be over 180 cms. In the old days, goalkeepers who weren't over 185 cms weren't given a chance at a pro level but clubs are slowly moving away from that assumption.
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping i forget to tell you that im from morrocco and im the first goalkeeper in my team the problem is that the second keeper that im better than him is 5'11 so he's taller . But my coach always prefer him cuz he's taller even im better in reflex in 1v1 and also in diving but i dont now why my coach is doing that . Can you send him a message by replaying to this comment and thank you 🙏🏻🤍
Thank you for sharing! I totally understand how frustrating that situation must feel, especially when you know you’re putting in the work and performing better in certain areas. It can be tough when height seems to be a deciding factor, but remember, your skills in reflexes, 1v1s, and diving are just as valuable - if not more. As for your coach, while I can’t message him directly, keep showing him your strengths on the field. Consistency and hard work will stand out in the long run. Coaches sometimes have their reasons, but your dedication and talent will eventually prove that you deserve more opportunities. Keep pushing and never lose confidence - you’ve got this! Hey, bro! Being 5'8" at 19 may not make you the tallest goalkeeper, but it doesn’t mean you can’t succeed. Some of the best goalkeepers in the world have been shorter and made up for it with incredible reflexes, positioning, decision-making, and athleticism. Focus on mastering your footwork, improving your jumping ability, and commanding your box with confidence. Remember, skill and determination can outweigh height if you put in the work. Keep pushing - your height doesn’t define your potential! 💪🧤
At 5'5", being shorter than some goalkeepers doesn’t have to be a problem - plenty of great keepers have succeeded despite not being the tallest. It’s all about using your strengths. Here’s what you can focus on: Agility: Shorter keepers often have an advantage when it comes to quick footwork and agility. Use your speed to get into the right positions faster than taller keepers might. Positioning: Master your positioning to cover the goal efficiently. If you’re in the right spot, you can compensate for the height difference and make those crucial saves. Explosiveness: Work on jumping and diving explosiveness so you can cover high shots and crosses. Plyometric exercises can really help with this. Confidence: Play with confidence and command your area. Height is just one part of goalkeeping - your ability to read the game, communicate, and react is just as important. At the end of the day, it’s about how you use what you’ve got. Keep working hard, and don’t let height hold you back - you’ve got this! 💪🧤⚽
Hey buddy. Thanks for your suggestion. Making thumbnails is not really my strongest asset. It's not easy to find images that fit perfectly every time :) But YT has this new feature where you can split test thumbnails, this is just one out of three thumbnails for this video. By the end of the testing period, it'll choose the best one and go with that :)
I get it, being 145 cm (around 4'9") at 13 might make you feel a bit short, especially as a goalkeeper, but don’t worry! You’ve still got plenty of time to grow, and there are many ways to make your height work for you. Here are a few things to focus on: Work on agility and quick reactions: Being quick off your line and sharp with your footwork can make up for height. Positioning: Stay a step ahead by being in the right spot. Good positioning can help you cover more of the goal. Explosive jumps: Strengthen your legs and work on your jumping ability so you can reach those high shots. Remember, some of the best keepers in the world weren’t the tallest. Stay focused, keep practicing, and you’ll continue to improve! You’ve got this! 💪🧤

Keep practicing, and soon playing short will feel natural. You’ve got this! 💪⚽🧤
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping thank you so much, love this channel man
Thank you
Going to face my next match, best wishes pls!:D
Good luck, man! Let me know how it goes :)
Got that much under my control!!!!
4-1 for my team, and actually, I even watched like 3 videos about diving into the balls, all because of you I did some quiet fast reaction saves, also did a highlight save on top right 90 degrees.
It’s just all because of your help and I’ll keep getting better with you and to be the best:)
Thank you Glory!
Wow. Congratulations! It sounds like you had a killer game! :)
I'm just doing my best to teach you, you're doing all the work, so you should thank yourself (also
Surely will!, never doubt my skills against big strikers!! >:D
I am 5'9 at 15 can I be a keeper
I really like playing football like Manuel the swipper keeper
Of course, you can be a keeper. You're not even that small and height is way overrated :)
Hey christan im 5’3 at 13 is that “shory for gk” my parents are tall, my dad is 6,1 and mom is 5’10 is it gonna be better when im older, all my teammates are tall, 5’7 and up, im our olny and main gk is there any tips for being so short like im suposted to grow but i need some drills i can do at home with nobody
Also how do you get to your self training class
Training on the pitch for one hour a day is excellent. Try to keep your session as short and focused as possible. Of course, that's why I created the channel. But thank you for your kind words, it really means a lot! :)
You can check out the self-training program here, it's becoming really popular:

I am 16 and 176 i play goal keeper is it a good height for my age?
176 cm is a solid height for 16! Keep in mind that many keepers are still growing at your age, so there’s a good chance you’ll get taller. Even if you don’t, what matters most is your skill, technique, and positioning.
Focus on mastering the basics, improving your footwork, and building your confidence. Great goalkeepers come in all sizes, and with hard work, you can excel regardless of height. Keep going - you’re on the right track! 💪🧤⚽
I am only 5'8 and I can't seem to high dive well
Have you watched this video? th-cam.com/video/smc1JXsHF34/w-d-xo.html
Guys I'm 12 and I'm 5 foot 4
I'm from the maldives and I'm going to Thailand for a tournament
Wish me luck 😊
Good luck buddy 🙏 You got this 💪
What about all of those shots that just go over your head when you jump how can you save that
Hey buddy.
Yes, those can be a bit tricky. But the most important thing is not being too far off your line. If you're standing close to the goal line, it should be a lot more difficult to hit any shot over your head.
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping yes sir
Hahaha luckily I play indoor walled so my nets are smaller. But I heard 6" as short and I cried 😂😂 (someone who is shorter than 5'10)
Haha, I get you!
❤
I am 5.8 but I feel short in bar
At 5'8", it’s totally normal to feel a bit shorter compared to taller goalkeepers, but don’t let that discourage you! It’s all about maximizing your strengths. Here are a few tips to help:
Positioning: Make sure your positioning is spot on.
I am 13 and almost 5 foot 7 is that good for my age group
You're still growing, so focus on developing your skills and enjoying the game. 5"7 at 13 is great :)
what do you mean short from what height ?
Being short is very "broad" but ideally, you want to be over 180 cms. In the old days, goalkeepers who weren't over 185 cms weren't given a chance at a pro level but clubs are slowly moving away from that assumption.
Watching this before training (My height isaround 1.34m)
Cool. Hopefully, it helped 🙏
Im 16 years old and 5.7 do you think i will grow to 5.11 ?
Hey buddy, that's impossible for me to say but of course, there's a chance that you will do that! :)
Thank you for reaching out, and keep shining! 💪⚽🧤
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping i will always learn from your'e videos to fix my mistakes and work to be better and thank you for this motivation you are really making me happier than anytime thank you 🤍💪🏻
Thank you, buddy :) I really appreciate your support
What about 5.8 feet bro 😢 at 19
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping thanks brother 🫂💗
Is 5ft5 a problem 😶
At 5'5", being shorter than some goalkeepers doesn’t have to be a problem - plenty of great keepers have succeeded despite not being the tallest. It’s all about using your strengths. Here’s what you can focus on:
Agility: Shorter keepers often have an advantage when it comes to quick footwork and agility.
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping tks for your advice🧤
me being 5'5 watching this is like:
hehe... Don't let your height define you, man :)
The text on the thumbnail would really be awesome when not taken out of context
Hey buddy. Thanks for your suggestion. Making thumbnails is not really my strongest asset. It's not easy to find images that fit perfectly every time :)
But YT has this new feature where you can split test thumbnails, this is just one out of three thumbnails for this video. By the end of the testing period, it'll choose the best one and go with that :)
Campos 💀
He's a king
Raya is the shortest in pl
True! Also one of the best :)
If you're a 6f goalkeeper
And you're feeling short
I'm 5.7
Remember the level these guys play at - it's the top of the top! :)
I am 13 year's old and my high is 145 cm😢😢
your at the age of puberty, don’t think too much of it you still have ALOT of time
That's true! Thanks
I get it, being 145 cm (around 4'9") at 13 might make you feel a bit short, especially as a goalkeeper, but don’t worry! You’ve still got plenty of time to grow, and there are many ways to make your height work for you.
Here are a few things to focus on:
Work on agility and quick reactions: Being quick off your line and sharp with your footwork can make up for height.
I am not even 1.80m tall but I could easily hung myself on the post. of course I cannot do that now cause I am close to 40yo🤣🤣but I remain psycho when I get the ball and score a free kick, a penalty or even charging after leaving my teritory🤣🤣🤣🤣
Haha, that’s awesome! 🤣 Even though you're close to 40, it sounds like you’ve still got that psycho energy on the field! Scoring free kicks and penalties as a goalkeeper is always impressive, and charging out of your territory just adds to the fun! Age is just a number - keep enjoying the game and bringing that passion every time you play! 🙌⚽
Thanks for sharing, and keep being a legend on the field! 💪🤣
