I'm a former professional goalkeeper (avatar pic is me playing) and now gk coach for 25+years. TH-cam is full of fake coaches and dubious advice. But I just discovered this channel and it's great. I'm going to point young goalkeepers to it. Keep up the great work Kristian!
I am an up and coming keeper in Ireland currently training with a professional academy waiting for my contract, i have improved and learned a lot my watching you videos. Ever since i found this channel, my keeper coach has been very impressed, thank you so much and keep it up.
Wow, that's amazing to hear! Congratulations on your progress and being so close to signing a contract - that’s a huge achievement! 🙌 I’m thrilled that my videos have helped you improve and impress your keeper coach. Keep working hard and pushing yourself - you’re on an incredible path. Wishing you all the best in your journey, and thank you for your kind words! 🧤⚽💪
My next match is on the 16th against forest U21 I can’t wait but I might not start and I think that the last tip is very important because either am currently around 4th or 5th choice and I don’t think I am ever gonna play at my club.
It sounds like you're in a tough spot, but you're approaching it with the right mindset by focusing on improvement and staying ready 💪🧤 Here's some advice I gave another keeper: 1. Is the current training helping you grow and reach your potential? 2. Does the new club have a proven track record of developing goalkeepers? 3. Are you willing to adapt to a new environment and possibly work harder to prove yourself at the new club? If you believe the new club will give you the tools to grow faster, it might be worth the move. Trust your instincts and do what feels best for your growth as a goalkeeper. Good luck! 🧤⚽
Kristian... bro.....your videos are always on point...to me, they are a breath of fresh air... ... a reassuring source of inspiration... but most importantly...they always provide me with a setting for humble self examination.....
Wow, this is such a thoughtful and insightful comment - thank you for sharing this, it really means a lot! 🙏 I'm so glad the videos resonate with you and serve as a source of inspiration and reflection. It’s awesome that you’re putting so much thought into developing your keepers, not just physically but mentally and socially as well. The communication aspect is so crucial, and I love how you’ve picked up on the importance of tone and delivery. You're spot on - how something is said can completely change the dynamics of a team. Encouraging your keepers to find that balance between being assertive and supportive is a game-changer. Helping them understand that communication is about building trust and guiding the team, not just barking orders, is such an important lesson. Also, I’m chuckling about the color-coded plans - sometimes the simple stuff works best! 😂 Keep up the amazing work you’re doing with grassroots keepers - it’s people like you who make a lasting impact on the next generation of players. And hey, if you ever have any specific challenges with your keepers, feel free to share - I’d love to help where I can. 👏🧤
Great video, as usual, especially No. 2. I remember early on in my career when I was getting noticed, lots of coaches came out of the woodwork wanting to 'help' my game. All with great intentions however. And, as you said, I tried to take too much advice on board to 'improve' my game, from high diving drills to crosses and everything in between. I became a confused mess and started hemorrhaging goals on game day, stuck in a self-doubt no-man's land. I ended up sticking with one coach and focussing on the basics over and over. Goalkeeping is a mental discipline no doubt about it!!
That's the spirit! Sometimes less is more, especially when it comes to goalkeeping! 👍 And that was exactly my situation also. And although, I tend to exaggerate a little in the videos so people get the point, this is the reality we live in today. SO much advice that it's difficult not to be overwhelmed. And yes, basics is everything - boring but it's true 🙂
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping and trust me, I've made some howlers over the years 🤣 I'm a 52 year old keeper now still living and breathing it but I don't sweat the small stuff as much and almost look back at the shockers with fondness haha
haha what you're saying there is so true.... When you get older (I'm 38) and look back at the howlers you've made throughout time, it almost makes you smile :-) It's like they're a part of who you are... although it felt terrible at the time :)
That’s a great idea! Focus is key, and I'll make sure to create a video on that soon. 💪 In the mean time, you can watch this one: th-cam.com/video/G5yOYnzMUu8/w-d-xo.html
This mentality actually changed the game.....REALLY.....What Jorge Campos and Rene Higuita did throughout their careers, especially in the 1990 WC in Germany, made FIFA change the laws of the game!.......it's worth mentioning that Germany constantly passing back to their own keeper so he could then PICK UP THE BALL also played a major role lol..... but those 2 gentlemen showed the world that a Goalkeeper can do MUCH MORE than previously imagined
Bro, I been wanting to ask this to some goalkeeper for a long time. Is it better to train with a smaller ball or a bigger ball as a goalkeeper is there much of a difference between both, and also, I face problem while predicting where the player is going to shoot, sometimes I dive the wrong way, is there a way to trick the player or go straight towards where the player is shooting. Pls help with my doubts
Great question, bro! Let me break it down for you: Training with Smaller vs. Bigger Balls: Training with smaller balls can be useful for improving your hand-eye coordination, reaction speed, and grip strength. It’s a bit like leveling up your reflexes. Training with bigger balls, like size 5 (match balls), is essential for realism. You need to get used to their weight, bounce, and flight path since that’s what you’ll face in games. A mix of both can be beneficial: smaller balls for drills and accuracy and bigger balls for match-day prep. About predicting where the player is going to shoot, I'd focus on becoming better at finding the best position and reacting to the shot, especially if you're young and still trying to learn. As you get older and more experienced, you'll learn to read the game (and the striker) better.

Hey man its me again,I just want to ask how to have a great mentality.Yesterday Was a Final match between my academy club and my academy rival,Me as my team gk, i conceded 2 goal, 1 of them was a blunder, and the end of the match, i couldnt get over my blunder it just keep moving around on my head. Can you give me a few tips for my mentality because everytime i conceded a goal i feel like it was the end.
Hey there! Thanks for sharing your experience - finals can be intense, and as goalkeepers, it’s easy to feel the weight of every goal. But remember, even the best keepers in the world make mistakes - it’s part of the game. To build a stronger mentality, here are a few tips: Shift Your Focus: After conceding, immediately focus on what’s next. Tell yourself, 'The next save is all that counts.' Don’t let one mistake define the rest of your game. Learn from It: After the match, analyze what happened with a calm mind. Was it positioning, decision-making, or nerves? Use it as a learning opportunity instead of beating yourself up. Develop a Reset Ritual: Some keepers clap their hands, take a deep breath, or even tap the post after conceding. This helps them reset and move forward. Positive Self-Talk: Instead of saying, 'I made a blunder,' remind yourself, 'I’ve made great saves before, and I can do it again.' Practice Handling Pressure: Simulate match scenarios in training, like penalty shootouts or high-pressure situations, so you get used to staying calm under stress. Mental strength is like a muscle - it grows with practice. And remember, your blunder doesn’t define you. What defines you is how you bounce back. Keep going, and don’t let one match stop you from improving and loving the game. You’ve got this! 💪🧤
Hi bro, I am a gk, I am 15 right now and I only started playing gk about 2 years ago. I've trained myself and in GK camps, and I tried out for my high school team but didn't make it in the end. This year I am joining a club for the first time. I've trained a lot of the basics but I've been scared always to make a full leap dive (I made some great saves but no jumping ones) so how can I get rid of the fear and make these dives (I always land/stay on my feet except for low dives), thanks
Hey, thanks for sharing your journey! First off, it's awesome that you've only been playing as a goalkeeper for two years and already made so much progress - that shows your dedication. Joining a club is a great step forward, and it sounds like you’re building a solid foundation. When it comes to overcoming the fear of full leap dives, here are couple videos that will help: Everything about diving: th-cam.com/video/8JcN2PXnDqM/w-d-xo.html How to train (overcome fear of diving): th-cam.com/video/D8IDfuXO93s/w-d-xo.html Keep training hard and believe in yourself. Those leap dives will come, and when they do, you’ll feel unstoppable!
That’s amazing to hear! Keep that confidence and stress-free mindset - it’s one of the most powerful tools a goalkeeper can have. Keep working hard, and at 13, the sky’s the limit for what you can achieve! 💪🧤⚽
Hey, if your field is covered in deep snow, no worries - you can still keep your training sharp indoors or in alternative spaces! You can do core strength, footwork, reaction training, and flexibility exercises at home or in a gym. You can also use a wall for passing and handling practice. If you have access to indoor facilities, even better! Keep those skills sharp no matter the conditions. 💪❄️🧤 P.S. My pitch is also frozen right now but I'm still training ;)
when you dive are you supposed to feel the pain in the hips after many repitions or on the side of the knees? maybe im doing it wrong because i feel it on the side of the knees
Feeling pain on the side of your knees after diving could indicate that your technique needs a slight adjustment. Ideally, when diving, you should distribute the impact across your body to minimize stress on any single area. Here’s how to refine your technique: Land on the Correct Areas: Focus on landing on the side of your thigh and hips rather than your knees. The knees should only be part of the initial push-off and not bear the brunt of the impact. Use Your Hands to Absorb Impact: When diving, let your arms and hands lead the motion. They can help absorb some of the impact, reducing the strain on your knees and hips. Work on Sliding Technique: Properly executed dives often include a slight sliding motion, especially on grass or turf. This helps dissipate the impact across a larger area. Inspect Your Surface and Gear: If you’re training on a hard surface or without adequate padding, it’s easy to land awkwardly. Consider investing in padded shorts or using a softer surface for repetitive dive drills. If the knee pain persists, it might be worth taking a break from repetitive diving drills and focusing on form correction with lighter movements. Overuse injuries are common in goalkeeping, so listen to your body and adjust as needed. 🧤💪
hi, could you make a video about how to boost immune system? I get sick easily and I find it very annoying as I'm not able to go out and train when I'm sick.
Take cold showers. I used to take them like a year ago and I never got sick. Then I stopped for a certain reason and now I get sick much more often. Trust me. Do your own research too.
Hey buddy. This is kind of out of my expertise. But I know cold showers in the morning, focusing on eating a balanced diet, staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, and managing stress helps your immune system. But to be honest, I would go and see a doctor. I hope this helps
Hey buddy. It's not this video. It's the warm-up video, go and comment on that. I'm not picking the winner myself so the company needs to see your comment :) The give away will be announced 16 of December :)
You forgot to shout me out 😢 Also I am at a club who aren’t at my level right now but the club that wants me only wants in case of injury to the main gk what should I do
Hey buddy. I'm not really doing shoutouts :) That’s a tricky situation! It might be worth considering how much game time and development you’d get at each club. If your current club isn’t challenging you enough but gives you consistent playing time, it might be better to stay for now and continue improving your skills. On the other hand, joining the new club, even as a backup, could push you to grow by training with a higher-level team. It depends on your long-term goals - do you want consistent matches now or the challenge of breaking into a stronger lineup? Trust your instincts and always focus on improving!
Your course needs professional equipment and proper placement. I am an amateur goalie and don’t have any fancy equipment, most of the time, I don’t have to much space.
How can I improve my passing from side to side (Ex: left back passes to me, I pass to my right back)? And how can I improve my technique and confidence on catching and cutting off crosses? Thanks Kristian! ** Copied and pasted from my comment on one of your shorts :) **

To build a stronger mentality, here are a few tips:
Shift Your Focus: After conceding, immediately focus on what’s next.
Positive Self-Talk: Instead of saying, 'I made a blunder,' remind yourself, 'I’ve made great saves before, and I can do it again.'
Practice Handling Pressure: Simulate match scenarios in training, like penalty shootouts or high-pressure situations, so you get used to staying calm under stress.
Mental strength is like a muscle - it grows with practice. And remember, your blunder doesn’t define you. What defines you is how you bounce back. Keep going, and don’t let one match stop you from improving and loving the game. You’ve got this! 💪🧤
@GroundGloryGoalkeeping Thank you man it really helps me
@@ZezeasFc no worries man 🙏
Hi bro, I am a gk, I am 15 right now and I only started playing gk about 2 years ago.
When it comes to overcoming the fear of full leap dives, here are couple videos that will help:
Everything about diving: th-cam.com/video/8JcN2PXnDqM/w-d-xo.html
How to train (overcome fear of diving): th-cam.com/video/D8IDfuXO93s/w-d-xo.html
Keep training hard and believe in yourself. Those leap dives will come, and when they do, you’ll feel unstoppable!
thankyou very much i now feel invincible and i have no stress because im 13 yrs old
ok
That’s amazing to hear! Keep that confidence and stress-free mindset - it’s one of the most powerful tools a goalkeeper can have. Keep working hard, and at 13, the sky’s the limit for what you can achieve! 💪🧤⚽
Hey if my field is all in snow and its very deep.Where i must train?
Hey, if your field is covered in deep snow, no worries - you can still keep your training sharp indoors or in alternative spaces! You can do core strength, footwork, reaction training, and flexibility exercises at home or in a gym. You can also use a wall for passing and handling practice. If you have access to indoor facilities, even better! Keep those skills sharp no matter the conditions. 💪❄️🧤
P.S. My pitch is also frozen right now but I'm still training ;)
if you really want to you could just get a shovel, clean a small spot and train :)
That's a great point. I've done that many times :)
Best gk on whole social media
Thank you so much, buddy
Also, when does the glove giveaway end?
Hey buddy. The winner will be announced on 16. of December. I'll announce the winner here on the channel :)
when you dive are you supposed to feel the pain in the hips after many repitions or on the side of the knees? maybe im doing it wrong because i feel it on the side of the knees
Feeling pain on the side of your knees after diving could indicate that your technique needs a slight adjustment. Ideally, when diving, you should distribute the impact across your body to minimize stress on any single area. Here’s how to refine your technique:
Land on the Correct Areas: Focus on landing on the side of your thigh and hips rather than your knees.
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping thanks man i figured i was doing it a little wrong because i see videos and they all land on their hip/side of thigh
If I dive A LOT - like 100+ times a training - of course my body gets tried too :)
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping of course
hi, could you make a video about how to boost immune system? I get sick easily and I find it very annoying as I'm not able to go out and train when I'm sick.
How is bro gonna fix that
Take cold showers. I used to take them like a year ago and I never got sick. Then I stopped for a certain reason and now I get sick much more often. Trust me. Do your own research too.
He's a doctor 😮??
C'mon bro, stay healthy.
Best wishes.🎉🎉
Hey buddy. This is kind of out of my expertise. But I know cold showers in the morning, focusing on eating a balanced diet, staying hydrated, getting enough sleep, and managing stress helps your immune system.
But to be honest, I would go and see a doctor. I hope this helps
@Equaalth4tguy I'm no doctor, unfortunately hehe :)
tricks that can 1v1 with strikers pls😅
Hi again buddy :)
Here's the video I talked about. It's 15 minutes but I guarantee, you'll learn a lot: th-cam.com/video/Lch3un35Xw0/w-d-xo.html :)
@@GroundGloryGoalkeepingthx my friend tell me i 1v1 good Much more than last time:0
That's so great man ! Congratulations!
Hi sir,
I'm from Pakistan. I heard about the give away of those gloves. I like the white ones.
When is the give away?
Hey buddy. It's not this video. It's the warm-up video, go and comment on that. I'm not picking the winner myself so the company needs to see your comment :) The give away will be announced 16 of December :)
You forgot to shout me out 😢
Also I am at a club who aren’t at my level right now but the club that wants me only wants in case of injury to the main gk what should I do
Hey buddy. I'm not really doing shoutouts :)
That’s a tricky situation!
Tbh I would only take advice from you and from my gk coach
Sounds good buddy. I'm both happy and excited about being one of the "chosen" ones
Me too and both of you teach the same techniques.
When Comes the Winner of the Glovesgiveaway?
Hey buddy. Not tomorrow but NEXT Monday which is the 16 of December. I'll message the winner's comment and post it in the community :)
Nice 👍🏻
How did you watch it in 3 minutes🤨
😮
Thank you
@Samih.123 haha... it's possible to comment and then go back to watching ;)
I think the hardest step to do something is start because you are not motivated enough to do something.
Yup! That's a big one, I agree. The first step is always the toughest :)
You know whqt, i was planing on going big, but i lost my friend, and now im going bigger
That's the right mentality. Don't let life stop you from reaching your dreams!
Thanks
No problem, man
The one Gk to trust: He starting with Ground and ends with Glorygoalkeeping
haha, thank you so much, man
Your course needs professional equipment and proper placement. I am an amateur goalie and don’t have any fancy equipment, most of the time, I don’t have to much space.
Hey buddy. Even without a fancy setup you can still improve your goalkeeping skills. It's about making the most of what you have.
How can I improve my passing from side to side (Ex: left back passes to me, I pass to my right back)? And how can I improve my technique and confidence on catching and cutting off crosses? Thanks Kristian!
** Copied and pasted from my comment on one of your shorts :) **
hey buddy :)
Here's a video about passing training that helped me SO much: th-cam.com/video/eGklbSBYQMM/w-d-xo.html
And here's a video about catching and cutting off crosses: th-cam.com/video/CDrI-FvBUZg/w-d-xo.html

haha thank you ;)
@GroundGloryGoalkeeping no problem:)
Who is your goat keeper
I think the best goalkeeper ever is Manuel Neuer - mostly because how he revolutionized goalkeeping. But when I was young, I was in love with Peter Schmeichel :)
@@GroundGloryGoalkeeping what about buffon and yashin
There is so little footage of Yashin but he must have been good at the time :)
And Buffon... who doesn't love Buffon? He's a legend :)
