We Live Better In Costa Rica Than We Did In The US - Here’s How Much It Costs
She stopped her chemo half way through, left the US medical system, and is now cancer free. Imagine that!
Yeah, America makes you sick.. figuratively and literally.
Exactly!
What cain is procedure when someone want to mobe from eirope to costa rica?
Even one season, couple months or 2 years?
A similar thing happened to a Greek man named Stamatis Moraitis! He came to the US and spent the majority of his adult life here and raised a family. He was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer at age 66 and was only given months to live. He decided to move back to Ikaria, Greece with his wife. He reconnected with old friends and all, thinking he was going to die soon. He lived another 30+ years! 😳
The supportive little claps when she said she was cancer FREE ❤😭 they are such a sweet family
I noticed that too... it was so sweet 🥹💖✨
Thank you!!
@@TheAngelsGirl omg it's you on the video!! ✨💖 your family is so sweet. And by the way, your Spanish is really impressive. Did you learn it all during your time in Costa Rica or had learned it in the US? You even sound Latina 💃 Congrats so much on your health getting better and your sweet family. Pura Vida! 🇨🇷🌴
@@kittymogulco I learned it before I came. I studied in high school and college.
I teared up at that exact part 🥹
Do people realize how stressful it is to live in the U.S? And yet as the most powerful country on earth like most of us claim the U.S is not even in top 10 countries where people live comfortably and happy.
I've lived in 6 countries and US was the worst out of all of them. the quality of life sucks..
It's not stressful if you are not spending what you do not have. I see people working 3 jobs because they want to have a big house or flashy cars instead of taking the bus or walking. The biggest issue is not incomes but lack of financial knowledge and living within one's means
_Yes. I'm American citizen who left the US about 9 years ago. I touchdown to renew documents, for weddings, funerals, baby showers and to check on my rental properties in person._
I know, right. Living here is very stressful!
I am a US immigrant. I love it here, i find it cheap and the money is amazing. I live in Houston.
Okay, this is another sign that we need to get tf out of this country tbh. I wanna be HAPPY, not stressed
Don't let the door hit ya ...

i met Kima and Nicholas in Costa Rica at a local coffee shop. . they told us their story and have remained friends since then. they are an amazing couple with beautiful children and such a great heart. They are salsa dancers too...
Welcome to the country 🇨🇷 - We're so grateful hearing people talking nice about us and our country ❤
Costa Rica 🇨🇷 has been the most beautiful country I've visited.
I hear nothing but great things about Costa Rica. I cannot wait to visit. ❤
I would love to visit your beautiful country soon ❤️🇨🇷
I want to come live and teach English!
The fact that her body and health improved away from the US is evidence that life sucks here. Whether it's the food or environment, this country keeps us all sick.
BABY! Living out of the States has changed my life! DO IT Y’ALL!!!
where did you move too
Where do you Live now?
So true! Been gone since 2012 and NOT looking back!
where do you live now?@@glb_tvlr
What country?
My sister! I am from Houston and had breast cancer TWICE! So happy to see her thriving!!! Praise the Lord 🙌🏾🙏🏾💕
This was a beautfiully made segment. I am so glad to hear you are healthy. I lived in CR for 5 years, it changed my life forever. They are some of the kindest people, it is the most beautiful place ive ever been. I lived in NYC, it cured my mental health issues, my weight issues. You are so active in Costa Rica. I also was living on a limited income, and eating all that fresh food and going to the beach everyday lowered my stress level and made me so happy
Yes!!! Pura Vida!
It sounds amazing. New Zealand has such high rent, petrol and food costs that buying basic items of fruit is off the table for most people. I used to put raspberries on my porridge 10 years ago, but that's unaffordable now. It must be amazing to live somewhere where fresh food is affordable.
Random question: are there a lot of bugs and spiders in Costa Rica?
@@ericar.6370yes.
Yes! But u get used to them. Its just part of life there@@ericar.6370
America is TOO EXPENSIVE 😢
Yes, it is! It seems that property prices really jumped after the government imposed the shutdown. Plus, the federal reserve has been playing around with economy by raising the interest rates.
Americans moving to these countries are doing the same for the locals.
@@shaheev8011 What the fed did reduced inflation.
It can be, depending on where you live.
And trashy.
It's such a blessing to have a partner that actually wants to make this type of move. Even the best of couples are not always on the same wave-length when it comes to these types of major life changes. May this couple/family continue to grow in love and thrive wherever they go!

Real Talk Truth Teller Facts
I want to move abroad perhaps CR and my husband is stagnant miserable in her job, complains daily including all day today as I type this
My mother and I want to visit CR in 2024 in 1-2 months
We want to see what’s better renting or buying or building there
She’s from Jamaica and would love to live like this again and die in an environment like this while seeing her daughter happy and healthy instead of worried and stressed daily
This gets me so emotional because everyday I ask myself why do I go to a job I hate just to keep a roof over my head, surely this is not the American dream.
Forget about "the American Dream". It no longer exists, if it ever really did. Imo (and others smarter than me) it was just a tool for promoting consumerism and debt. Tap into fulfilling your purpose in life. Here's to hoping you find your true "glory". 🙏🏾 💕
☝🏾
I love this! We are not meant to live stressful lives. Good for them taking the leap. There’s a beautiful world out there and we should experience as much of it as possible.

My wife is from Costa Rica and we live in Texas. We got married during COVID and have been married 3 years now. She is there in San Jose and I will be joining her in 4 days for my first trip to Central America and I can hardly wait. The only thing keeping me in this country are my children from a previous relationship but, my wife and I are already planning our escape. If I could take my sons I'd be on the next flight smokin'!
Good for you! My husband is from the DR and I’m honestly thinking the same. I need more peace and happiness.
Start setting up things from now so when your children are grown relocating will be smoother and also you can have property to leave to them or somewhere they can go to outside of the country

We turned on the tv and my husband always goes to TH-cam first. This was the 2nd video on the list and I said “click on that one”. My husband looks and instantly says “I know her!” He said you all went to school together. His name is Bryan Taylor
Lol that is so awesome I hope she sees your comment
Such lovely people. So glad they are happy in their new life. Makes me happy.
i retired from the army after 21 years and moved back to my contry el salvador in 2021. im more than happy here
Thank you for your service
I’m in tears! Tears of joy for them…how beautiful.
I’m Canadian and have NEVER travelled anywhere in my life, but I knew in my heart I wanted to be somewhere by the ocean, warm climate, laid back life…by some Divine intervention, some property in Costa Rica fell into my lap and I’m getting ready to build a home there in the coming years…that is where I will be retiring and spending most of my time. Can’t wait!!!
I too am a cancer survivor (stage 3), and I truly believe the fresh air, nature, good healthy food is a natural cure for diseases… my body took a beating from radiation and chemo and I am still not myself. It will take a lot of time for the damage to recover…I’m thankful I’m cancer-free now, but I NEED to be in Costa Rica, for my health’s sake.
God bless everyone, we all deserve joy in our lives. ❤
I'm in joyful and happy tears too!! 💖💞💖
It is amazing what the right environment will do for your health.

"Medical research estimates as much as 90 percent of illness and disease is stress-related."
The book “The Myth of Normal” by Dr Gabor Mate on this exactly topic is so validating.
I saw a documentary on blue zones a few years back. One guy they interviewed was from a zone in Italy, moved to the US to work, and got diagnosed with cancer in his 60's. He decided to move back home to die but ended up living into his 90s. There is probably something to the fresh food, clean environment, community & low stress.

I love this episode; it was focused more on the non-financial side, I think. And I teared a little to hear about her sister who passed and she couldn't go be with her for the last time. So sad esp since her sister was with her during her cancer journey. Am so happy you're cancer-free and I hope your lovely family will continue to thrive in that beautiful place. 🌞
Thank you so much!
Everything they have said is all true. We bought a house in 2020, 5 minute walk to the beach. I, too, battled with breast cancer 2 weeks after my son was born. Stress can bring back the cancer, that’s one of the reasons why we needed a place away from the states. There is a sense of peace and relaxation when we go there. We just got temporary residency and now we are looking to start a cafe right across from the Liberia airport, open late 2024. Come in and visit us if you all fly into Liberia.
Hi! We usually prefer to fly into Liberia. I will definitely stop into your café when its open. What is the name of your café?
@@TheAngelsGirlHi. So good to hear from you. The cafe will be called The Landing Cafe, it’s right next to the gas station at the Solarium. We should break ground next few months. Yes, please come in and say hi to us. We should defiantly keep in touch.
What did you pay for that house, and what is the sq ft.?
No answer .. I wish I could say I was shocked.
@@THE-X-Forcewe didn’t purchase this house, as we don’t plan on living on Nicoya long term. I am unsure of the square footage as that is not important to me. I am being inundated with messages and questions, so I won’t be able to see or answer them all. Thank you for understanding.
she became cancer free when she moved to costa rica, lady and gents, you should try visiting costa rica, the food and air is totally different.
What timing! Was just talking to my wife about moving back to Costa Rica. Such a wonderful country!
I think it would be a great opportunity for you both. I say GO FOR IT!!!
I agree so much with what she said!!! Living in the US I feel so much heavier energetically. I lived in Switzerland for 3 years and although I was more alone I felt energetically lighter. I am really glad to see she and her family are doing so much better. Love this video!
My daughter went to Costa Rica last year and loved it!!! This video has convinced me that this is the place to retire " comfortably." Are you with me daughter dear???
I went to CR once and it was the only place and time I wasn't negatively reminded that I was black. In fact I didn't sense any racism during my stay. Zero. Very peaceful country in general.
I’m not surprised. In Costa Rica we are not as obsessed with labels and there is a lot more mixing… most of us have some European, some Amerindian and some African in our genes, so we’re not so divided in distinct groups.
I was in CR for a month in 2022, and my (bad) arthritis felt non-existent, even for many months to follow. My cousin ( a native) said it's the lack of inflammation in my body due to the food and the environment. I'm trying to get dual citizenship since my father was a Jamaican Costa Rican. ENJOY that beautiful country.
I visited Costa Rica a few years ago and the people treated me like I was a movie star. I'm stuck in Houston for now because immigration is backlogged. I can't wait to escape this place because I now have anxiety and I never had this before...😢😢
No they just are normal kind people whereas americans are mean and unfriendly, that why u felt normal ppl treating u like movie star, you never knew what it was like to talk to normal healthy ppl
That’s why we chose to retire from California to Belize six years ago! Huge difference in a positive way. 🌞🌴🌺🐬⛵️
Thank goodness you brought this up! Truly, investing has changed my perspective on how one can succeed in life; working multiple jobs isn't the optimal way to attain financial freedom and unfortunately, we discover this later in life. This family integrated rather than expecting their new host country to conform to their American ideals. Kudos to these wonderful people!
I’m happy to see them thriving and happy! It’s wonderful that they took a risk and feel welcomed, valued, and accepted in their new community 😊
There's is soooo much to unpack here. Especially that direct connection between cancer, mindset and lifestyle. DEEP. Much love to this family!!❤

This is so amazing!!! Chemo killed my oldest son after just one round! 3/11/2023. From a cancer I was told. That was completely ans easily curable! So glad she listened to her body and stopped and moved to a better place for her physical and mental health

Had a coworker move here during the Pandemic too.
I have visted Costa Rica, and would 100% move there.
Im not a naturopathic person, and would never move for that reason, but Costa Rica has amazing food, people, life, things to do, and its close to a lot of other amazing countries.
They are living my dream! We are split between Costa Rica, El Salvador, & Belize. I thought Costa Rica was more expensive I’ll have to check out the area they were in.
It is I am a Costarican and yes it is more expensive than those 2 countries
It is more expensive but it is possible to not spend a fortune. I think there is something for everyone.
It's is more expensive, but if you have around 2,000 it will be enough. If you can get accustomed to living like a local, you might not even need that much.
Haven’t been to Costa Rica but have been to both El Salvador and Belize. Both are beautiful, locals are friendly, and it is extremely easy to busy whatever you want in either country.
I am a native of Austin TX. The stress of keeping up with inflation is very stressful. My husband and I have discussed moving to another country. My husband is a retired county worker and a Veteran but still has to work to keep up with inflation and I work Krazy OT. Thanks for sharing your journey.
I once lived in Austin but in Dallas now. I can totally agree.
They rent a three bedroom for 628 a month including utilities. Where I live here in Florida it's impossible to find something that cheap lol. Kudos to them for making their move and wish them many more years of happiness
I migrated to the US but rn I’m building my house back home. This country ain’t it outside of providing good work opportunities.
Omg! Congratulations on kicking Cancer’s butt! I was at a work event last night and Costa Rica came up heavily as a place to live that was black friendly. Synchronicity!❤

I left the U.S. 2 1/2 years ago and I have not looked back! I was supposed to go to Thailand first but couldn't because of covid, so I went to Mexico first with the intention of only staying for like 6 months until Thailand eased their restrictions. Well I;m still here but on my way to Thailand soon. Don't believe it when they tell you that the U.S. is THE best place to be. It's not. It doesn't mean that I hate the U.S. I don't. I was born and raised there as was my entire family, BUT....I will say that the people of Mexico have been very kind to me and I feel like a human being first instead of having a label placed on my skin color first. Mexico is part of my future and I'm pretty sure Thailand will be too. Sad to say, but the only time that I will go back to the U.S. is to visit friends and family, but never to live. (unless through some tragic and twisted fate, I'm FORCED to..lol). I feel happier and safer outside of the U.S.!
Great story, thank you for sharing! I hope the family sees all the comments being written. Wish them a long positive life and prosperity! Gee...this vid made my morning! Again, thank you!
Glad you found your peace, health, & happiness.
We live in Houston Texas and feel that way too.
My Aunt lives in Costa Rica and loves it there!
The healthcare in the US can cripple you financially, it’s insane how much it costs. Even with the massively overpriced insurance you still pay so much out of pocket
Thank you for sharing this beautiful story!
Im sorry for the loss of your sister and not being able to get back.
I hope you all continue to thrive in Costa Rica!
Been in CR 20 years. It's hard to live on 30k a year here. They are also living in a pretty boring town, I'm guessing no car and a very basic house. Good for them, but I don't think most people would want to live this simply.
To achieve the "American Dream" takes a lot more out of us while seemingly less and less achievable. The rat race is making us collectively stressed and unhealthy. Plus we have the issues of astronomical healthcare, housing, and childcare, along with gun violence. As a mother of 2, it's in the back of my mind every time my children and I leave the house. That wouldn't be an issue in a place like Costa Rica. I commend them for taking the leap. My family and I aim to do the same around 2027, when my kids are a bit older.
Good for them. It’s good to just see the options available to ppl. One life to live.
I'm next! I feel like all I'm doing is living to work and pay bills. There's no culture in the US.
The culture is work to live.
Here we work to pay bills.
Also is known for the Bk=Lyle Zones lifestyle- people live longer and healthier. Many organic farm.
"No culture in the US" .. ?
ok well if you can't find culture here then good lucking finding it anywhere on Earth.

Beautiful story. I truly believe they followed their inner energy and found a place that matched it. Praying that Costa Rica remains unspoiled for the locals. 🙏🏾
I can’t wait to leave the United States behind.
I lived for almost 20 years in Costa Rica. The incessant petty theft was overwhelming. My house had to be barred up, 2 guard dogs and a worker/guard who lived on my property, and still they came to rob. Also the Costa Rican government mandates all vaccines for all children,no exceptions. Also when I lived there it was forbidden to home school your children.I eventually moved to Hawaii, Big Island and the first thing I noticed was no bars on the windows, not even in the city. Also no razor wire on the roof tops.No more constant vigilance, I can leave my slippers, towel etc on the beach while I surf and no one touches it, no one steals it.
That being said theres much I miss about Costa Rica and much I do not.Its a wonderful place to visit but challenging to live there.
Thanks for the insight!🙏🏾
Wow, I didn't know about the vaccines?
Your experience isn't everybody's
This video makes it seem so perfect but I do not believe any place is perfect. Stress is what you make it. Your living quarters is what you make it. There are beautiful places in the states, like upper peninsula of michigan. The air quality is good there as well. Prices, can’t change that, but can take at look at spending and prioritize. Cancer free, hmm, that can happen in the states as well change eating habits, etc. Not knocking their choice to move there but don’t like the idea of sharing all positives with not one negative. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for an honest comment. I knew there had to be some catches
This is so wonderful and such a blessing to see another family make a huge brave life decision for the betterment of their future.
I personally did the big transition out of the U.S to Ethiopia Africa 2 years ago with my daughter and plan to live here permanently and visit other countries as well throughout our journey. May we all be guided into our passions, serve each other with compassion and live a happy, loving life while doing so 💚🌎🥰
They're from my hometown amazing people ❤
Everywhere will be cheaper/better if you have more money. The US is a great country (I am an immigrant) for making money. I was not making 6 figures but saved 54% of my salary which allowed me the freedom to do whatever I wanted, including quitting a job I did not like. I live alone, can go on vacation if I wish.
The key is to live on a budget and live within your means. Most Americans are so obsessed with buying things/having lots of money. It's not how much you make but what you do with what you make.
Costa Ricans would argue life is better in the US.
This is the truth right here.
Smart comment, I am also an immigrant. The US is dirt chest compared to how much one makes. So easy to save on a 5000$ salary vs 1000$ salary abroad even if cost of living is a bit cheaper abroad.
A family of 4 is vastly different from 1 person. This is our experience, I am glad it is working out for you though. That is what matters most, is that your life and lifestyle works for you!!
"It's not what you make but what you do with what you make"
That's the thing. For them, Costa Rica is cheaper and better than the United States AND they're a family of 4! They're living in comparative ease on what would be considered lower income in the US and not struggling financially over their housing and medical needs.
We are also a family of 4 and this video further affirms our decision to leave the US in a few years. I'm personally so over the rat race and want a less stressful, more peaceful life. We are saving now to make it a reality.
