- Find out why the length of a sarcomere (in diastole) affects the amount of force that it can generate (in systole), and how that would look on a graph. Rishi is a pediatric infectious disease physician and works at Khan Academy. Created by Rishi Desai.

I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You deserve all the success with your program in schools. If every teacher could make things so simple to follow, the world would be filled with geniuses!
not reaaly if everyoen was a genius then no one would be a geinus duhh
This video was such a huge help! I'm studying for my personal training certification and I didn't understand this concept as taught by our book, but this video explains it perfect!!
I've been struggling with this topic in the past few months . I never fully understood this sentence " overlapping of actin = less force of contraction= less tension ) . But now, everyting is so clear ! I made all the drowings that u made. ty so much
Oh my god, thank you so much! I was so confused about this before, and now I don't know why I was even confused in the first place. Thanks! :)
WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'm in med school and you're video just clarified one of my lectures perfectly!
Very Very helpful video. You made it so easy to understand the two relationship:) Thanks!
literally I have an exam tomorrow about muscle physiology and this video saved me
you nailed it
i wonder why my professor never explain it this way
now after this video it all makes sense
thank you as hell
Is this the basic principle as to why we get tired holding a rock in the same place even though no work is actually done? The sarcomere gets stretched and this leads to space for contraction, utilising ATP, and keeping the rock in place, at the expense of more ATP. Is this right?
I didn't understand this concept until now! Thanks!
Thank you so much! very easy to understand!!
thanks for your fabulous effects
but I want to ask you a favour
how you make that type of video and with what programs?
dude you're a real good teacher. real simple & easy to understand.
This was so helpful, thank you!
Very helpful explanation. Thanks a lot!
You guys are great! Much appreciated.
Wow! thank a million for this!
Thank you so much. What you did is magical. I understand perfectly well now.
thanks man, that was amazing!
Just wow! Thanks!
helped a great deal. thanks
that was so helpful
thank you 💞
thank you so much! god bless!
Thank you, and greetings from Bangladesh :)
could i be thankful enough..:)
I'm assuming this is applicable to all muscle fiber rather than exclusively cardiac? Thanks and keep up the awesome work!
Thank you for making this great video! I am studying personal trainer course. It helps me understand alot! 🎈
Amazing!!!!!! thank you soo much
Great. Thanks a lot
Thank you! Sounds so much like Matt chan
You have just saved me thx ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
So, just to clarify, the greatest amount of tension is generally created at the midpoint of the shortening and lengthening curve? So halfway up during a bicep curl (or halfway down)?
Bonus- tension can and should be consciously generated (by squeezing and contracting a muscle) throughout the entire contractile range in order for muscular hypertrophy? Correct?
Thanks a million!
Super helpful.
excellent explanation
Wow very nice explanation
Thanks!!
Thanks youuuuu very muchhh
great!!!
Thank you!
Now i get the biphasic relationship between length and tension. Thank you!!!
So in summary what he’s saying is tension increases as sarcomere length decreases right?
thank u verry much. it was really hard to understand all this alone.
hello please would anyone tell me what program is he using making this video?
Many thanks! :)
Very well explained
You are amazing.
THANKKKKKKKKKKK !!!
thanks a bunch
Thank u sir
ok now i totaly understand what you said but what does all that do/mean?
What software he used to creat that sketching excellent work with recording
Thanks trillion!!!
Thank you ❤❤❤
Is there a video about contraction types? :)
Very good and funny videos bring a great sense of entertainment!
THANK YOU FOR SAVING ME FROM BIOMECH
This was a perfect video and explanation of the length-tension relationship. Thank you for posting this!
I wonder what this comment or has achieved In these 8 years 🤔
@@startsmile9366 me too
@@amiinaden4132 keep wondering, my child
THE AMOUNT OF ACTIN AND MYOSIN FILAMENT OVERLAP DETERMINES TENSION DEVELOPED BY THE CONTRACTING MUSCLE

God bless
Khan 2.0!
Why was the number 2 blocked (could u clarify me more about this pls.)
can anyone explain the term "tension of muscule".....please
Thank you, but why would the sarcomere be streched/tight in the first place ? Isn't it's length stable ?
amazing thanks a lot
Greetings from Egypt
7:38 Clealy he has not seen any shonen anime 😂
He clearly has not seen All Might or Midoriya Detroit Smash someone 😂
Dude, you're a fucking genious!
❤❤❤❤❤
7:39 all might would like to have a word with you
I love you
Can you add translate for Arabic language
you neglect the passive force though. the passive force is even higher than the active force in picture number 5. not realistic but in theory it's the highest amount of force that can be generated
So i sit in an 1 hour lecture..still don't get it. Watches this video...UNDERSTANDS IT IN 8 MINUTES

I am extremely bored.
