@@Mercilessonion looking at accent differences in real life, for example between cities in the UK or USA. Distances are much shorter than "the expanse universe" but they have unique accents. Plus there is only a day or two of travel time between the cities using vehicles. The silo's transportation is walking... which is about the same day or two travel time from the top to bottom. From the story so far, looks like many people stay on their floor. Therefore unique accents could happen.
@@sharonshade4437 It still takes time to reach from the top to the bottom (1 day or 2) because they only seem to use walking to travel. Radio communication between floors is limited (forbidden to listen to). Many people spend their whole life on a floor or section barely going to the others parts. Over time that kind of isolation could evolve speech into accents.
In the very least job related slang would be dominate as they live to work and work is based on floor level. Makes you wonder about universal jobs that are required on every level. Do janitorial staff of each level talk smack about lower level janitors?
Great scene but... How did they managed to start work on the turbine blades as soon as they shut down the generator?! Those blades should have been hundred degrees hot... The dial they used to measure temperature was actually a pressure dial (measured in Bar)... How did she managed to enter the containment chamber, it should have been hundreds of degrees in there... They should have flooded the containment chamber with water to keep the valve cooled... How did the turbine managed to spin at the end with the panels removed? Where was the steam?!?!
I didn't like how the steam generator seemed work without steam going through it. The outside cladding is vital to it working so that the steam has to flow through the turbine blades. We saw it turning but there wasn't any steam. That was poorly done.
Yeah, it was sooooo unscientific. Also that huge turbine spinning very rapidly with a dented blade? That would not be trembling, it would rip apart and yet this turbine was running for more than 140 years without stopping. Imagine a plane engine running for 140 years without mantenance... It's magic.
They seem to got the turbine and genrator mixed up. And you can never do a repair like that in less than an hour. A 450+ deg machine cannot cool down in minutes. Plus she sprayed water on the main stop valve in an enclosed room (steam line) 9:15 and lived to tell about it.😅
People commenting that the screen glitch got people thinking Allison was right. Nope.. That isn't what real life situations of "man behind the curtain getting exposed" show us about people living in deception and fear. They dont have a conscious thought about it, most forget it instantly, thwir psyche protect them from mysteries and inconsistencies in their worldview. Someone young like a child can murmur about it. But adults almost never can truly question their worldview. Great show so far, i just saw this episode now. Looking forward to the rest.
Just started this show! 90% of the reason I’m watching it is because I knew you’d reviewed/recapped it earlier this year (otherwise probably wouldn’t have watched, because the trailer I saw just didn’t grab me). I’m really enjoying it saw far! I was suspicious of the outside world as soon as Allison saw the exact same birds as Jane Carmody. (Not sure how I mixed this up, but I think I meant to comment this on an earlier Silo video, not this one.)
IMO, there’s enough content in the 9 Silo series books to create 6 Seasons! Things are speeding along quickly, and I understand why the pace of a book needs to be quickened for the screen.
I'm enjoying this show quite a bit so far, so I'm not going to rag on some of the more unbelievable bits too hard... Like there was no way in hell Juliette was climbing back up that rope once at the bottom, or the shows belief that a four and a half inch angle grinder is some kind of magic turbine blade repair tool if you just rub it against the thing hard enough...(among many others) Good natured nit picking aside the tension built up through the repair was very good, with a nice mystery story building in the background to keep you invested.
You skip over a massive clue. When the power went out if you pay attention to the window or camera if you looking from the outside in there is a image that show up in the window in the safe room. Also someone in the scene says what was that. It’s a image of green grass and a nice blue sky. Go over and watch it again.
There are books that are unfilmable because cinema is a visual and auditory experience while words on a page show what is in the characters' minds. The Wool books are a perfect example of this dichotomy.
The people in the cafeteria definitely noticed that the screen flashed to a different image of the outside, the camera focused on a few individuals who saw.
Question to the bookreaders: In the book they are drilling for ressources themselves. There is no steam coming from down below, is there? (It's some time ago that I read the books. Going to reread soon)
that was HBO Max. In general Apple TV has kept shows around longer than other streamers might, but there is no guarantee that will continue now that they are releasing so many of them.
Raised by Wolves started really strong, but by the end of season 1, it devolved and didn’t make any sense. I still haven’t been able to start season 2. I’m hopeful for Silo because the source material is great, and there is a lot to explore for the TV show.
I’ve seen multiple people online thinking Raised by Wolves was an Apple show. Where did this come from? It was an HBO show and had nothing to do with Apple. So far, Apple TV+ seems to be the most reliable streamer when it comes to show renewals. They’ve only canceled a handful of them so far, and they were mostly shows no one paid attention to.
So when Holstein first went out, his wife’s body wasn’t there, when he took his helmet off he crawled right to her. We don’t see a shot of the landscape after he takes it off but his movement sounds like he’s on dirt not grass. I think they alter the image from within the helmets to inspire those who are sent out to clean.
I'm not 100% sure but the hard drive they looked at seemed to have files made 90 years after the silo was settled. So could be at least 230 years. As I believe the "rebellion" was 140 years ago.
yeah, I mean I know how long they've been there from reading the book, but they've said the rebellion was 140 years ago which is why I said at least that long. Obviously, they were there for some time before it happened. The hard drive files you can see are dated Silo year 97 and it's implied that it's from before the rebellion.
@@PetePeppers1 I've not read the book, but I'm definitely going to after the series has finished. It's got a great mystery to it, and for a TV series, so far it's been very good and engaging.
its 99% that they kill them with some kind of poison before going out but the real question is why they are keeping them there, thats probably the point of the series
It will cost you to start. The cost is $34,000.00 up clost to $50,000. When I found out what it cost to start and that's when I turned it down. Some who have money, good luck.
The book: Oh damn, that just happened! The show: Wait, what just happened? i suppose the later choice is working for some people -- but I preferred the book's way of giving you some answers by this point, than the show's delayed answering anything by this point. And the cliffhanger, Juliette's on a rope and resolution: she simply climbs back up - was weak sauce.
In this episode Juliette's boss Knox talks about "keeping 10,000 people in the dark forever" (if they can't repair the machine. So Juliette deciding to pursue Truth now she has Holston's signal, is responsible for literally and physically not keeping the Silo people in the dark ;)

@@PetePeppers1 I just watched it, and it looks like even more of a departure from the books. I don't recognize much of it (not that that means it will be bad)
I’m coming back to this video after finishing the show, and I still have some of your same questions about the video glitching to show the world outside in the beautiful daytime. Especially with people’s barely-their reactions. Like, I get if they were scared to let on that they’d noticed, but it was soooo subtle I’m still not sure if they actually noticed at all. Also, Jules’ accent is supposed to be American? Boy did I read that wrong.
When the power was shut down, and the ‘window’ flashed a sunny green luscious landscape, the ppl in the cafeteria just sat there like zombies. No reaction. Goes to show how thoroughly their minds have been manipulated by Judicial, and those in Power.
to me, my instant reaction was why did those featured extras make those faces? There was a big missed opportunity to at the very least show that the show's decision to flash the screen was mirrored in a modicum of some confusion from the people. to me, it’s like they weren’t even reacting to seeing anything. Just like they were directed to look around anxiously. It really rubbed me the wrong way in this show where the majority otherwise is impeccable.
They did a great job on the generator repair scene and people's anxiety about electricity. As viewers, in this moment, we understand the populations fear from a silo without electricity, are emotionally invested and want the generator to get repaired. But on another level, a failing generator could advance the plot (crime, rebellion, need to leave the Silo) so the outcome of the generator repair attempt is quite open. Additionally, because major characters died quickly before, together with what they knew or suspected, even the current characters' death was not entirely out of question. I agree that the crows in the cafeteria should have reacted totally differently. Between generator shut-off and restart, they should have been debates back and forth what it meant that they saw. Can't be that there wasn't even gasps of surprise and exchanged looks.
The generator repair job is done amateurish. Btw, the steam coming from using the hose clooling down that metal valve will give you burn wounds. Besides that, steam won't make metal glowing red hot. And I don't think cooling down the valve will make the pressure drop.
You can see they are very deep into bedrock when they show the massive boring machine. Geothermal makes perfect sense for steam or heat to produce it for power turbine.
Rusted aluminum hard drive? Ok, it’s like sound in space, I can live with it. But the show lost all credibility when a woman in a baking oven with a red glowing iron door survived without getting kooked in the water and left without the slightest burn.
The whole generator repair sequence was so absurd. Magic steam. Magic turbine with no steam actually flowing to it. They grind on the blade for less than 10 minutes and it is suddenly straight. The other repairs that were done off screen worked because you do not see the technical. It is like the characters in the French Fahrenheit 451 magically going up the fire pole because they didn’t know about or understand gravity.
SPOILER ALERT I'm almost to the end of S2 and no one ever mentions the obvious glitches of outside view screens even after you hear someone ask about it in scene. Kinda pissed and I'm starting to see some obvious plot holes and major omissions of logic like the screen glitches.😤
Why would that quick second of green grass come up anyway? Like what’s the reason for Judicial to have that saved? Did they need to show that image to everyone at one point? And for what reason?
Well they've never shut down the power like that before, so it seemed like an accident. But I also don't know why they'd have it queued up for the big screen for any reason. But I also don't want to spoil anybody.
@@RusakovLA I suppose that's possible.. but doubtful considering the name of the game was deceit from tht very start. But again I keep forgetting most people haven't read the books lol so I'm worried I'll spoil if we say much more lol
Yall book readers have to chill, lol the best thing is for tv to change up elements of the book otherwise what’s the point of watching the show. They’re peeling back the onion but you wanted a clearer narrative of the greenery from the other characters in ep3? Maybe it’ll come up 3 ep from now, need to wait for Jules to take over as sheriff 1st
I actually thought they did a good subtle job of showing some people saw the green but didn’t say anything which you can reasonably infer is for fear of cleaning or some other punishment.
I don't understand why they couldn't start the turbine while it was still under repair to give them more time. When they started the turbine, it immediately relieved the pressure and it took a while for the turbine to start back up. If they had done that before, they could have closed off the valves before the turbine got to full speed and would have given them more time for repairs. Plot reasons, I guess.

Damn that script felt like it was written by an infant. Which is a great contrast to the generally high quality of the show. It's just hard to understand how these high and lows can be the work of the same writer(s).
In any case I'm quite happy with this show. The characters and the actors are great, the presentation balanced and it has some charm to it I haven't experienced in shows in recent years.
I have a feeling the suits they where when they are released don’t have a window but rather a screen and the feed is manipulated
It's surprising they don't have sections of the silo with their own "silo" accent. Like the Belters' accent in the Expanse series.
Likely because they are only separated by a long staircase. The Expanse was whole separate planets.
going from up to bottom would take a day or two in Silo, but going from earth to the very puter planets in expande takes wayy longer
Loving having you follow this show !!! Glad you’re back. This is a good one. I’m Thinking Judicial may be a fake out and not be the bad guys
I loved the book and this show made some wildcard changes that I'm both very excited and scared to see how they would pan out.
Rebecca Ferguson's performance is a top notch. No exaggeration, just perfect and i am rotting for her.
Seen the set at Hoddesdon Studios - even walked up the spiral staircase, which is 3 stories high, HUGH set areas.
Very cool!
That is so cool! I'm a little envious 😄
@@Melarancida No filming at the time, i was checking on the fire safety.
_this series surprisingly amazing_
This episode had me STRESSED
this show is so good. i knew it would be when i saw the trailer for it
TY, Pete Peppers.
Np Moose
the repair scene from a technical point of view was a total nonsense... I could barely watch it without laughing... the mayor was poisoned.
Plus she sprayed water on the main stop valve in an enclosed room (steam line) 9:15 and lived to tell about it.😅
@@norielangeltuazon6878 Yep, all of that. She steamed/cooked herself.
@@norielangeltuazon6878think water cooled it though
this episode reminds me of the scene from CITY OF EMBER MOVIE
9:00 moronic scene, she would be dead instantly from the vapors in that small container
I didn't even catch the screen change. Totally missed it.
Like there was no way in hell Juliette was climbing back up that rope once at the bottom, or the shows belief that a four and a half inch angle grinder is some kind of magic turbine blade repair tool if you just rub it against the thing hard enough...(among many others)
Good natured nit picking aside the tension built up through the repair was very good, with a nice mystery story building in the background to keep you invested.
You skip over a massive clue. When the power went out if you pay attention to the window or camera if you looking from the outside in there is a image that show up in the window in the safe room. Also someone in the scene says what was that. It’s a image of green grass and a nice blue sky. Go over and watch it again.
No, he discusses this around 12:26
There are books that are unfilmable because cinema is a visual and auditory experience while words on a page show what is in the characters' minds. The Wool books are a perfect example of this dichotomy.
The people in the cafeteria definitely noticed that the screen flashed to a different image of the outside, the camera focused on a few individuals who saw.
Question to the bookreaders: In the book they are drilling for ressources themselves. There is no steam coming from down below, is there?
(It's some time ago that I read the books. Going to reread soon)
If Tim Robbins is still there - it is a sure sign you cannot escape :)
Susan Sarandon escaped him IRL
I am so fascinated with this show. I hope Apple doesnt abruptly cancel it like they did Raised By Wolves, which I also loved.
that was HBO Max.
Raised by wolves ran out of ideas so frustrating
Why did not a single person me too nthe screen flicker green lush trees when the power went off !
So when Holstein first went out, his wife’s body wasn’t there, when he took his helmet off he crawled right to her. We don’t see a shot of the landscape after he takes it off but his movement sounds like he’s on dirt not grass. I think they alter the image from within the helmets to inspire those who are sent out to clean.
through the viewing screen it looks like her body moves when he touches it too
I'm not 100% sure but the hard drive they looked at seemed to have files made 90 years after the silo was settled.
So it really is a desolate and toxic wasteland outside? What's the twist then? Is it on another planet? I really don't know what to think anymore.
its 99% that they kill them with some kind of poison before going out but the real question is why they are keeping them there, thats probably the point of the series
The twist is really unexpected.
In fact, there are several twists about the world they live in.
It will cost you to start. The cost is $34,000.00 up clost to $50,000. When I found out what it cost to start and that's when I turned it down. Some who have money, good luck.
your audio in your video goes in and out?
The book: Oh damn, that just happened!
The show: Wait, what just happened?
i suppose the later choice is working for some people -- but I preferred the book's way of giving you some answers by this point, than the show's delayed answering anything by this point. And the cliffhanger, Juliette's on a rope and resolution: she simply climbs back up - was weak sauce.
I thought she would have discovered the water was an illusion or something. Or discover someone down there to help her up.
You're absolutely right!
The series is nice but I am sad/annoyed that they have already changed so much compared to the book
So far so good.
In this episode Juliette's boss Knox talks about "keeping 10,000 people in the dark forever" (if they can't repair the machine. So Juliette deciding to pursue Truth now she has Holston's signal, is responsible for literally and physically not keeping the Silo people in the dark ;)
wuw the series sofar, a bit of fallout mixed with snowpiercer and maybe equilibrium, glad you're covering it
This episode was weak but I’m engaged. Out of hundreds of people only 3 people can fix this shit in under a few minutes. Threw me out. That was a saw this before and was done way better episode. Thanks for the breakdown. Love this channel
Foundation s2 trailer breakdown plz
I'll be doing one but have a couple other things I need to get done first.
@@PetePeppers1 we can wait 🤞
@@PetePeppers1 I just watched it, and it looks like even more of a departure from the books. I don't recognize much of it (not that that means it will be bad)
Was the outside image while wearing the helmet outside fake? If not, why did the sheriff appear to die when he took off his helmet?
Can you start to add a spoiler section at the end of videos? I’ve never heard of the books but would like to know more about where we’re going
maybe down the road or in a separate video. I'm thining about it.
How do they know if something is a relic? Everything in the silo is aged.
Anything that show proof of outside activity.
It's kinda pedantic to judge an entire episode's credibility by just one small fluke.
Cinema Sins really ruined how people review media huh?
Tell me whats going on outside now.
Watch at 1.5 speed, otherwise the dialogue feels slow motion.
I'm still watching that SILO series just for Rebecca Ferguson
Maybe this was shown before the rebellion.
@@RusakovLA I suppose that's possible.. but doubtful considering the name of the game was deceit from tht very start. But again I keep forgetting most people haven't read the books lol so I'm worried I'll spoil if we say much more lol
@@flutter2386 please tell me more. I’ve never read the books but I want to know more please!!!!!!
@@GabrielAlcala956 Wait till the series lets us know or read the books. We try to avoid spoilers here.
how can such a normal-looking steam engine have functioned for over 140 years with no real maintenance?
Yall book readers have to chill, lol the best thing is for tv to change up elements of the book otherwise what’s the point of watching the show. They’re peeling back the onion but you wanted a clearer narrative of the greenery from the other characters in ep3? Maybe it’ll come up 3 ep from now, need to wait for Jules to take over as sheriff 1st
I actually thought they did a good subtle job of showing some people saw the green but didn’t say anything which you can reasonably infer is for fear of cleaning or some other punishment.
Couldn't she climb down the excavator, instead of the rope that's dangling in the air while she can't swim?
I don't understand why they couldn't start the turbine while it was still under repair to give them more time. When they started the turbine, it immediately relieved the pressure and it took a while for the turbine to start back up. If they had done that before, they could have closed off the valves before the turbine got to full speed and would have given them more time for repairs. Plot reasons, I guess.
Because it was missing a blade, that would damage the engine …
OK, I'm late to the party watching silo now, but this episode was ridiculous. That machine crew sucks. They almost got Julia killed. Co-op was a f****** disaster. He was saying oh I can do this. I'm good fighting to be a leader. When he had his chance, all he was doing update was f****** up. He should have had that blade in and out with all the s*** he was talking. Julia, it's in the whole drowning and the other girl doesn't go in there to get us.She just calls her f****** name and doesn't jump in the water. They try to pull her out bullshit crew
Would have subbed to the channel , but the 4 adds per video is a joke
The generator scene was so intense!
👍🏾👌🏾
WOW this was bad
rebecca ferguson is killing it in this series, no one else in the cast is really holding up their end but the mysteries are solid & intriguing & as long as the story stays focused on juliette it'll be worth following to the finish & maybe they'll go 3 seasons for the book trilogy
Alright.... So, it's yet _another_ show where the male characters are all unsure, indecisive and secondary to the strong, empowered, "Mary-Sue" female characters.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah... _IT'S BEEN DONE._ Enough!
We are all in a silo, we just dont know it.
The only person (and of course, it is a "strong" woman character) that know how to fix the generator is Juliette, so if she drops dead then what ? A poor sap tried to learn from her and what did he get, a punch !! What an intolerable narcist to not understand the need to ensure others know how to operate the machine that keeps them alive.
I do not mind the need to dramatic license, but keep it in the believable bounds of reality !!
In my opinion this is portrayed WAY better in the books.
There Juliette also really cares about the reactor but there are many other people around who are skilled as well
Ehm, this happens in reality as well.
This has Timothy Robbins? Reminds me of City of Ember. Which SUCKED!!
Nah, it was fun. It was a children's movie.
