I recommend the Slow Motion mod, it's VERY handy for when things slow down, once the FPS drops if you half the speed of the game it smooths out a ton, might be useful for making more workable footage with challenges like these

Not to that extent, but there was an old sci-fi book about society that sends students to survive for a short amount of time on another planet, but this time something went wrong, and students were left on a planet for years(?), and as it turned out, this planet had very interesting way of ecological cycling.
Early on in my rimworld experiences i had a colony of like 6 or 7 people. Had a small killbox and my pawns had rifles and handguns. (Didnt know simple sidearms existed at this point) had 19 maddened cats attack the colony, so i set up my pawns at the killbox and the swarm immediately overruns my pawns only losing 3 or 4 cats and then begins to pummel my pawns 1 by 1 in hand to hand combat. One of the funniest experieces i have had in rimworld
A good trick against manhunters (and melee/short range raiders) is to have a quick pawn run in an oval shape in front of a firing line in the open, just be careful of very fast animals and the occasional go-juicer, along making sure the one running is always the closest to the enemies. Works even better with psycasts like burden and skip in order to dodge more easily.

But you're correct that having a distraction is good to keep pummeling mechs and manhunts. At the time my killbox understanding was slim and my confidence in pistols was very high lol. I also wasnt running simple sidearms either at the time so they only had ranged weapons. I was like "cats cant take more than one bullet right?" Randy told me i was wrong with blood lololol

After winning the final game the emperor was in great spirits and told the merchant he would give him whatever he wished for. The merchant declined but the emperor insisted. So the merchant requested the amount of rice that would be equal to a piece of rice that doubled for each square on a chess board. The emperor of course laughed at this small request until later his treasury spoke with him informing him it would be impossible as there was not enough rice in china to give to the merchant to supply his request. Going from memory of course and all that so might have been off in some aspects.

He repeated this process several times and eventually the squirrels stopped.
