@@StruggleReviewzTV if you need some insight on what really go down in these Black Greek sororities, LMK I’ll send you my email because I have a lot to say. Lol. But overall, Spike Lee was spot on.
I always thought Bleek SAW them taking Giant into the alley BUT he wouldn't stop his music ....even to save his friend...he played it as fast as he could....but wasnt going to stop
He definitely saw it. That’s why after his solo ended he couldn’t fight his guilt anymore and so he rushed out to the alley to save Giant. I just wish he didn’t bring his horn out there with him 😖
Bleek knew Indigo would be right there waiting on him, I would've left him right outside in the rain! There's no way you go from community D to husband material that fast. Plus he was unemployed! Nope you stand right outside in the rain and think about what you've done!
@@ForeverLuxeDesigns women will always take in the dude that dickmitized them. And its normally just ONE dude in their dick history that can always slide back in. Clark was ambitious, Bleek was a good lay but she moved on to Shadow because she wanted to be on that mic more than be with them ninjas anyway. If it would have got her a solo spot shed have hooked up with the Flatbush Brothers next. Indigo wasn't going nowhere. Had she been with another dude the night Bleek showed up she'd have asked him to leave and let Bleek right up in there.

It just is what it is… But on an other level, Bleek knew Clarke was a bird; sex game was through the roof but a bird nonetheless
Same with me. There was no Jazz played in the Household when I was a kid. Thanks to this Movie and Hip Hop Groups like Gangstarr and Tribe Called Quest. I was able to get into it.
I fell in love with Denzel when I first saw this movie ❤😮and I was 6 maybe! I told my dad I love him! And dad giggled and said when u a grown woman u wont be thinking about him
Hunti, You didn't mentioned a "WET" Denzel walking in the rain. Whew Chile!!!😂😂😂 I have to give it to Indigo. She put up a valiant fight for a good "minute." Even though it's Bleek, at the end of the day it is still Denzel. It's hard to resist all that swagger. Big Ups to Spike!!
I saw this movie when I was a little girl. (My parents did great by me clearly lol) and that scene where Spike got beat up scarred me. To this day I can’t watch that scene. Love this movie, great review as always!
This is one of my favorite movies and I’m glad you reviewed it!!! Bleek got a bad rep in this movie, but he laid it out. I understand both women being upset when being called the wrong name, but they could have just chilled… Also, he had communication issues, and put up his defenses easily. Lastly, he wasn’t wrong, Clarke couldn’t sing… Yeah I said it😂
I love this movie....but What I hate about this movie....to some degree... I feel you're supposed to see Bleek as an destroyed by his obsession and self indulgence of his career and art etc But what ruined him was not cutting off his dumb ass, gambling junkie friend Giant. Other than that....he was holding it all together just fine. To me....the moral was ..don't let your worthless ass friends ruin your life. Him juggling the two women...he was handling that fine and could of got two more when he was done with them.. buy Giant is what f'd him up
It’s a really cool movie, & love the music. Still feel Indigo had the same weakness at the end as Angela from Boomerang. Loved your review as always. Much respect to you 👍👍
Love this! Spike Lee is my favorite director!!!! Please review Crooklyn. That’s my fav from him. I’ll will be right here with you reciting all the words and singing all the songs.
Shadow..........is just that Bleeks' shadow 👤 and if you notice... he has to have everything he has the band that he ends up playing with is his band, the woman he ends up with & the lead singer of said band is Clarke who we all know is Bleeks' woman.
Why do Black people do that to one another? "Canty Canty... Same Same" If I actually despise someone, the last thing that you would ever see me doing is trying to be or look anything like them. Case in point, I was forced to sue a racist plant president for a lot reasons; hiring and firing based on race, unequal pay and lack of promotion, misuse of company expense accounts etc etc etc. One day, long before filing my complaints I saw him in the front lobby coming out of the conference room wearing a charcoal grey suit with a mint green dress shirt. Looked really good! I have close to 30 different color dress shirts to choose from to wear with my suits, thanks in part to that lawsuit. Guess which color that I didn't buy?
But they left off that beautiful opening theme by Bill Lee & The Natural Spiritual Orchestra, or was in an early Terence Blanchard chart and arrangement? In those days, I had never ever cried in a movie... nevAH!! But man, I had to hold back the tears during that opening sequence and title. I was on the first date with this woman that I was probably going to be seeing for a long time every morning on our commute on the train even if we didn't hit it off. I was so disappointed not to find the opening title on either the audio cassette nor the compact disc.
Loved your movie review channel and you look gorgeous. I love you and love the way how you are expressing scenes from pieces by piece of characters' motivations in their symbolism. I really think Bleek Gilliam is my favorite fictional Denzel Washington character. When I say he made me wanna master the 🎺...... I really think he's married to his horn and both [ Clarke & Indigo ] are his sidechicks.
The woman that plays Clark never moved on from this movie. She’s in real life till this day trying to be a singer, and singing in these little jazz clubs
Great review, I had to rewatch Mo Better Blues again, great film from Spike Lee, also Halle Berry was suspose to play Clarke Bentancourt and it could have been her first film but she turned down the role because of the love scenes
Love your reviews. Can you review Mississippi Masala? (another Denzel Washington movie). The romance between him and the Indian girl had a very interesting dynamic.
I love your movie choice's. Can't wait for School Daze review! Could you please consider reviewing The movie/ book Their Eyes Were Watching God and/ or Disappearing Acts?
Fun fact: Cynda Williams was dating Wesley Snipes during the making of this movie. Spike’s first scene he shot was the sex scene with Clark & Shadow to get it out the way…
One small detail but why was young Bleek in the house fully dressed only to be forced to practice with no intent of letting him go outside??? That mother was evil and his father was a simp for not putting his foot down.
The music is the difference between this being an okay movie and a good movie. The plot was interesting. The acting was good. It just felt like something was missing. When I first saw this, I thought Shadow was a snake. For some reason it felt like Shadow was jealous of Bleek and he went behind his back and took his girl and his band. Watching it recently, Shadow was a real one. He was really trying to look out for everybody. Even though he was dirty macking, he told Clarke the truth and he didn't go behind Bleek's back. He was pretty much letting him know what it was and Bleek pretty much gave him permission to go at her.
The best part too me is the two dealer F up the two friends in the back of the club because of the money that spike lee owe and the whole jazz group was in the dressing room talking about the picture or the sister that they put up on the mirror and laughing at the another friend about the show bunny 🐰 that he was dating and the chick bite his lip and got mad
My goal is to be a filmmaker & I love Spike but I just gotta say one thing. Ain't no way in Hell would I even consider directing naked sex scenes starring my own sister. Blood sister at that. I still don't know how he thought that would be ok unless he had someone else do it & took the credit.

Robin Harris is comedy’s biggest what if. Spike Lee said the cast would come in on their day off just to see Robin Harris tell jokes.
This alongside Devil in a Blue Dress and The Mighty Quinn are definitely some of Denzel’s most underrated, under appreciated roles.
I always thought Bleek SAW them taking Giant into the alley BUT he wouldn't stop his music ....even to save his friend...he played it as fast as he could....but wasnt going to stop
yeah he saw and heard him. he looked squared in his direction. Bleek had warned Giant a beating was coming and that was the day.
He definitely saw it. That’s why after his solo ended he couldn’t fight his guilt anymore and so he rushed out to the alley to save Giant. I just wish he didn’t bring his horn out there with him 😖
