Answered all my questions I had on the topic and then some.
You mentioned you use a braid backing with a thicker braid top shot. 2 questions on this:
1) what ratio would you use to select the thicker braid like e.g, 20%, 50% thicker?
2) with the above setup, would you still recommend a mono leader or is this overkill, or adding more weak points to the setup?

So to answer:
1) it’s not percentage really, but for your braided leader I wouldn’t step up more than 60lbs.
You can go thicker, but then a PR bobbin knot is recommended.
2) definitely add mono- it’s more abrasive against the bricks, and ties better to your terminal tackle than braid does.
