I finally completed this yesterday, now I’m getting recommended someone doing it with ONLY TIFA. It took me hours of retrying to complete it with everyone.
I guess it is actually easier to steer one character than orchestrating the whole team. It is definitely faster to do it with three but alone you may focus on staying alive and place the attacks better.
Bit late to the party but it's easier to solo as one character than try and organise a party. That and Tifa's combo's can deal ridiculous amounts of damage in quick time makes her the go to.
Thanks to watching this, I gave this mission another try, MAINLY using Tifa and I FINALLY completed that Top Secret challenge. Thanks for showing me the light!
Main reason is because of Leviathan phase 2 where she would normally be useless, or if they just choose not to equip Parry on her... streamers don't really have the time to study the game like we do lmao

Whaaat? Tifas the damage queen, and the only one who can increase your damage multiplier in staggered phase... Pretty much the definition of glass cannon. I'm not as good as the guy in the vid but cloud and barret seem like the weaker ones to me. Aerith is stupid strong in magic and Tifa has the best physical damage, her parry makes her skillful as you can dodge nearly anything, and Dat multiplier
This is how I roll. Love Tifa. It's interesting this person fights most of the battles in Tifa's Chi Level 1 without increasing it until later. Seems like they do this because "whirling uppercut" is a key part of their combos and building pressure. I wonder if they knew you can still do it at the higher chi levels as well but you have to hold square to execute(plus it takes a little longer to execute in my opinion). Amazing playthrough! Freaking owned those summons.
They did each character amazingly well, but I feel extra attention went to tide (thank god if true) because she is just so fun and satisfying once you start doing the combo chains.

@@AoDAzrael Shiva hasn't really been the problem. I can consistently get to Leviathan, but then get absolutely wrecked. But today is the day I sit down and try this strat out (watching the vid now to refresh my memory, then off to the ps4)
@@Fool-arxana You go all the way back to Shiva which is where I am at. Every time I go against Levi, he does a burst attack and dives under the level to move positions before I can pressure him. Not sure what the hell I'm doing wrong lol
@@Fool-arxana You're just fighting the summons in the VR missions from Chadley right? You just start from the summon you selected. I honestly had a bit more trouble with Leviathan than Bahamut because my materia weren't as leveled yet and also because I didn't have as good an understanding of the combat system at that time.

I don't know why I assumed the berserk accessory would only give you berserk for the first couple min of the fight, so I never used it. And metal knuckles outdamages the purple pain even if you have 2 luck up materia? I guess purple pain is better suited for healing and magic based attacks then. I'll take note of these things when I want to do a solo playthrough. Awesome video.
VonZuben thanks! The barrier came from a random carbuncle right at the end, they will cast Ruby Light (barrier) on your party whenever they spawn but they are rare.
very impressive... i believe it takes alot of practise and tries to memorize boss moves and mechanics. You didn't even use deadly dodge, focus strike and overpower at all, guess i'm not not playing her right. Uppercut + diving kick ftw.
Awesome! I been working on this too, my movement and parry timings need improvement though. I just wish they tuned the game rewards/pickups for hard mode differently though. Dunno why all these chests with items are around and the sim rewards are items when you can't use them lol.
@Bjorn Ironsides I'm aware...but that's not a justified reason. I'm just saying I think it's pointless. Why would you go back to normal after a hard playthrough? Only reason to replay the game after hard anyway is to dig into story hints and in that case I just played my third time on easy so I can just focus on watching the story.
I know you mentioned that you equipped the fire to weapon for main Shiva. But, if you maxed it out its a huge gain later on too. For example, when ifirt gets summoned all his atks would heal you that's to the link bonus and lvl 3 and then also from prototype. His fire atks that heal you ( I combined that with the use of deadly dodge ) I didn't need to heal once after ifirt entered the fight.
I’m sure the run could be optimized a lot, this was quite a while ago and I haven’t really revisited the game since to try to clean it up. Shiva was actually the ultimate gatekeeper out of all the fights here for this challenge, as I needed to close out the fight before diamond dust. And the best solution I was able to come up with without changing metal knuckles (this was also intended to be a pseudo speedrun) was putting fire elemental on the weapon. To absorb fire damage I would need a second fire+elemental combo on my armor, but then I would have to sacrifice two luck ups to fit it. And trust me after dozens of attempts the difference between two luck ups and zero is massive and made the other fights nearly impossible as well because they all have a timing that you have to beat them by or you wipe. It would have been nice to have but ultimately I decided that fire elemental armor was a luxury that, as proven, wasn’t necessary to win. However it WAS hilariously cruel for the last boss to randomly stop and sit in his own fire and deny me my sub 10 minute victory lol.
@@wholewheatrotini6712 ohh for sure man. And yeah the was pretty funny. Also just great job the only reason I beat it was with all 3 and have fire elemental maxed on hard-edged. Which is why I mentioned the healing you get from it maxed you don't need it slotted into an armor slot for the healing buff I received a fair amount from it linked just to the weapon. I also appreciate the build break down really want to give it a whirl. Haven't played around with the bezerk ring.
El Bottoo Tifa is a beast. Once I got used to her combos, I don’t want to use anyone else. I pretty much use her exclusively now whenever she's available.
@El Bottoo Tifa has the highest DPS potential of all characters actually. Its just that she is harder to master since her gameplan is not as straight forward as the others and you dont have a clear direction on what moves you should be using. Since for example, this guy here is doing max DPS using divekick, but I have seen guys using chi trap or starshower to do ridiculous damage as their primary skill. As opposed to all the Cloud videos which are just counter and punish stance rince and repeat, all Aeriths are magic and all Barrets are ranged style (theres some videos of Melee Barret but its not optimal). But Tifa can reward you with better timings if you are willing to put up the brains, not to mention she is fun af.

You assume almost no one masters the game, you assume everyone just wants to get the limit break artifact and call it a day, you assume everyone wants it easy and wants to do everything as easy as possible, whats even the point in playing hard mode then?. This is how YOU play the game. But in reality, everyone does their thing, and a lot of players actually like to master the game and keep playing getting all they can out of it. And btw, your definition of tier list is not accurate, while ease of use is part of the ecuation, other things come into play. Potential on paper its worthless and doesnt come into play, which is what Tifa would be if all of her potential was really hard to exploit, but its not, its actually quite easy, its just not a dead give away like the other chars, so her potential its actually practical, in this case chars like her cant be low tier with potential like that, it doesnt require insane execution or knowing enemy patters, just some build knowledge and combo routes and you are good to go wreck havoc. Also, are we really talking tiers in a single player RPG game that only has 4 playable characters? come on now. Its only about who executes the roles better, and with optimal builds it goes like this: Tifa is the best close-range DPS. Aerith is the best ranged DPS. Barret is the best tank. Cloud is balanced while being a close second to Tifa's close range. Simple as that, no need to get into tiers for this game.

Excellent work, Tifa is by the the most interesting character to fight as. Her style is fun and dynamic. I think the Leviathan fight doesn't do the combat engines any favours. The camera and lock-on make it a massive chore.
Great video very impressive 👍 quick question though, I just wondered why you are doing just aerial attacks on leviathans head rather than attacking the body? I’m just curious is it the damage amounts or does attacking the head interrupt certain attacks?
well, i am sure somewhere in the world right now there is a japanese kid who is making a video on how to beat pride and joy with only aerith , no materia, using one hand, while blind folded. . jokes aside, its not about the tifa's combo in this video. its the parry. if u look at it the strategy he uses is actually very simple. upper cut and dive kick. and parry himself away from dmg and repeat, occasionally healing. he never unbridled bcuz he needs the upper cut. also parry himself to the enemy's back. the key here is not the combo or set up. its simply the parry.
So those little slides are enabled by Parry Materia? What's the condition that allows you to do them? Do you have to be responding to enemy input, or are you allowed to just do them on command? I'd like to be this good some day, but in the meantime I'm okay with just making minor changes to make my cleverly-balanced one-on-one solo shows more entertaining. ;D
Pensive Scarlet parry materia gives you an extra command, pressing r1+circle makes you do quick little dodges. What’s great is that in addition to the speedier and more responsive dodges, you are also considered blocking during those animations (while doing a tiny bit of contact damage yourself). So it actually pairs with Steadfast blocking really well, as it will reduce the damage you take if you parry an attack, and increases the ATB you generate. The downside however is that you can’t use deadly dodge after a parry, only regular dodges.
This looks bit odd... Shiva activates frost familiar.... As soon as she comes out of pressured state first time... In this video, i don't see her using frost familiar nor whiteout which puts character to sleep ...
Dang tifa tanks damage well. Not sure if also there was good RNG in this run? can the bosses become more or less violent on different runs or their aggressiveness/ patterns usually the same?
Eric Savala the fights are mostly consistent but there is a little bit of RNG involved. Believe it or not Fat Chocobo is one of the most RNG, if the first add is a Bomb instead of a Tonberry it can really screw up the fight. Ifrits behavior can also vary a bit. Sometimes when he first spawns he just hangs around waiting for you to come to him and other times he charges immediately. And in this run having Pride and Joy sit in his own lava pools was super bad RNG, I think his AI broke at the end to be honest lol.
i think most of the people having hard time playing this remake are those playing it like a Souls game or playing it too defensively based on what ive saw on streams and comment sections
I tried this battle 20 times yesterday. Shiva casts frost familiars right after she gets pressured. They swirl around her, heal her and absorb your magic attacks. Is there like a different HARD MODE.
Shiva will cast frost familiars once her health drops below ~80ish percent. The strategy is to stagger her before then, and then finish the fight in that one stagger cycle. Having fire elemental and chi trap is essential to pulling this off, it significantly builds her stagger gauge without weakening her too quickly.
You got a materia loadout for this? I noticed you had elemental Fire on her hands. Was curious why you didn't use the other elemental for her armor so that Ifrit basically becomes your healer for the Bahamut fight. I would think Elemental Lightning on her hands would help out for Leviathan and Pride and Joy and perhaps you could get a stronger Regen effect with Enemy Skill + HP absorb by using Algid Aura and Sprit Siphon in tandem with each other. Unfortunately that wouldnt' help you when the bosses jump away.... Here's my guess at your setup: Weapon Elemental + Fire, ATB Stagger, Luck Plus, Luck Plus Armor Healing, Parry, Steadfast Block, HP Plus Accessory Fury Ring I'm wondering if you couldn't make it a bit more effective with the following setup: Weapon Elemental + Lightning, ATB Stagger, Skill Master, Luck Plus, Luck Plus Armor Enemy Skill+HP Absorb, Parry, Steadfast Block Accessory Transference Module Perhaps instead of Divekick spam you could cycle Focused Strike, Divekick, Overpower, and Unbridled Strength when the enemy is unstaggered in order to get a constant stream of ATB bonuses from Skill Master. Then when the enemy is staggered do a Divekick, Chi Trap, True Strike, and Unbridled Strength with Rise and Fall and Omnistrike peppered in there. Could use Spirit Siphon and Algid Aura in place of Regen and use your MP for nuking Leviathan and Pride and Joy with Thundaga. The constant ATB spam would spam and staggering should fill up your Limit Gauge fairly quickly but I'm not sure if that would be a DPS loss due to not having the Fury Ring. Your parrying is on point and I'm quite impressed with the feat. The video was a treat to watch and you're by far better than I am. Thanks for the sharing it with us.
Rhomagus Asclepiot I have my full setup in the description. The idea was to do this run solo, but also aim for the fastest time possible. The fire elemental on weapon is purely for shiva, who is almost impossible to stagger without (as she’ll cast Frost familiars once her health goes below 80%). Lightning elemental would be helpful, but it’s not absolutely necessary to the run the way fire is.

Yeah... Cloud supposed to be a Jenova-Level Soldier but he doesn't rack damages as much as Tifa does.

The key is really to stick close to Shiva - her projectiles will do quite a number on you if you try to keep away from her.

Overpower should only be used to interrupt casting abilities by shoving enemies, which doesn't really work on these bosses

Shiva was actually the ultimate gatekeeper out of all the fights here for this challenge, as I needed to close out the fight before diamond dust. And the best solution I was able to come up with without changing metal knuckles (this was also intended to be a pseudo speedrun) was putting fire elemental on the weapon. To absorb fire damage I would need a second fire+elemental combo on my armor, but then I would have to sacrifice two luck ups to fit it. And trust me after dozens of attempts the difference between two luck ups and zero is massive and made the other fights nearly impossible as well because they all have a timing that you have to beat them by or you wipe. It would have been nice to have but ultimately I decided that fire elemental armor was a luxury that, as proven, wasn’t necessary to win.
However it WAS hilariously cruel for the last boss to randomly stop and sit in his own fire and deny me my sub 10 minute victory lol.
@@wholewheatrotini6712 ohh for sure man. And yeah the was pretty funny. Also just great job the only reason I beat it was with all 3 and have fire elemental maxed on hard-edged. Which is why I mentioned the healing you get from it maxed you don't need it slotted into an armor slot for the healing buff I received a fair amount from it linked just to the weapon. I also appreciate the build break down really want to give it a whirl. Haven't played around with the bezerk ring.

El Bottoo Tifa is a beast. Once I got used to her combos, I don’t want to use anyone else. I pretty much use her exclusively now whenever she's available.
@El Bottoo Tifa has the highest DPS potential of all characters actually. Its just that she is harder to master since her gameplan is not as straight forward as the others and you dont have a clear direction on what moves you should be using. Since for example, this guy here is doing max DPS using divekick, but I have seen guys using chi trap or starshower to do ridiculous damage as their primary skill.
As opposed to all the Cloud videos which are just counter and punish stance rince and repeat, all Aeriths are magic and all Barrets are ranged style (theres some videos of Melee Barret but its not optimal).
But Tifa can reward you with better timings if you are willing to put up the brains, not to mention she is fun af.
@El Bottoo You are throwing a lot of assumptions and generalities as if they were gospel when they are not. You assume almost no one masters the game, you assume everyone just wants to get the limit break artifact and call it a day, you assume everyone wants it easy and wants to do everything as easy as possible, whats even the point in playing hard mode then?. This is how YOU play the game. But in reality, everyone does their thing, and a lot of players actually like to master the game and keep playing getting all they can out of it.
And btw, your definition of tier list is not accurate, while ease of use is part of the ecuation, other things come into play. Potential on paper its worthless and doesnt come into play, which is what Tifa would be if all of her potential was really hard to exploit, but its not, its actually quite easy, its just not a dead give away like the other chars, so her potential its actually practical, in this case chars like her cant be low tier with potential like that, it doesnt require insane execution or knowing enemy patters, just some build knowledge and combo routes and you are good to go wreck havoc. Also, are we really talking tiers in a single player RPG game that only has 4 playable characters? come on now.
Its only about who executes the roles better, and with optimal builds it goes like this: Tifa is the best close-range DPS.
Aerith is the best ranged DPS.
Barret is the best tank.
Cloud is balanced while being a close second to Tifa's close range.
Simple as that, no need to get into tiers for this game.

I think the Leviathan fight doesn't do the combat engines any favours. The camera and lock-on make it a massive chore.

jokes aside, its not about the tifa's combo in this video. its the parry. if u look at it the strategy he uses is actually very simple. upper cut and dive kick. and parry himself away from dmg and repeat, occasionally healing. he never unbridled bcuz he needs the upper cut. also parry himself to the enemy's back. the key here is not the combo or set up. its simply the parry.

So those little slides are enabled by Parry Materia? What's the condition that allows you to do them? Do you have to be responding to enemy input, or are you allowed to just do them on command? I'd like to be this good some day, but in the meantime I'm okay with just making minor changes to make my cleverly-balanced one-on-one solo shows more entertaining. ;D
Pensive Scarlet parry materia gives you an extra command, pressing r1+circle makes you do quick little dodges. What’s great is that in addition to the speedier and more responsive dodges, you are also considered blocking during those animations (while doing a tiny bit of contact damage yourself). So it actually pairs with Steadfast blocking really well, as it will reduce the damage you take if you parry an attack, and increases the ATB you generate. The downside however is that you can’t use deadly dodge after a parry, only regular dodges.

This looks bit odd... Shiva activates frost familiar.... As soon as she comes out of pressured state first time... In this video, i don't see her using frost familiar nor whiteout which puts character to sleep ...
Dang tifa tanks damage well. Not sure if also there was good RNG in this run? can the bosses become more or less violent on different runs or their aggressiveness/ patterns usually the same?
Eric Savala the fights are mostly consistent but there is a little bit of RNG involved. Believe it or not Fat Chocobo is one of the most RNG, if the first add is a Bomb instead of a Tonberry it can really screw up the fight. Ifrits behavior can also vary a bit. Sometimes when he first spawns he just hangs around waiting for you to come to him and other times he charges immediately. And in this run having Pride and Joy sit in his own lava pools was super bad RNG, I think his AI broke at the end to be honest lol.
i think most of the people having hard time playing this remake are those playing it like a Souls game or playing it too defensively

I tried this battle 20 times yesterday. Shiva casts frost familiars right after she gets pressured. They swirl around her, heal her and absorb your magic attacks. Is there like a different HARD MODE.
Shiva will cast frost familiars once her health drops below ~80ish percent. The strategy is to stagger her before then, and then finish the fight in that one stagger cycle. Having fire elemental and chi trap is essential to pulling this off, it significantly builds her stagger gauge without weakening her too quickly.
Also you can cast 'stop' in her pressured state or staggered state to sustain her vulnerability time x
You got a materia loadout for this? I noticed you had elemental Fire on her hands. Was curious why you didn't use the other elemental for her armor so that Ifrit basically becomes your healer for the Bahamut fight. I would think Elemental Lightning on her hands would help out for Leviathan and Pride and Joy and perhaps you could get a stronger Regen effect with Enemy Skill + HP absorb by using Algid Aura and Sprit Siphon in tandem with each other. Unfortunately that wouldnt' help you when the bosses jump away....

I'm wondering if you couldn't make it a bit more effective with the following setup:

Elemental + Lightning, ATB Stagger, Skill Master, Luck Plus, Luck Plus
Armor
Enemy Skill+HP Absorb, Parry, Steadfast Block
Accessory
Transference Module
Perhaps instead of Divekick spam you could cycle Focused Strike, Divekick, Overpower, and Unbridled Strength when the enemy is unstaggered in order to get a constant stream of ATB bonuses from Skill Master. Then when the enemy is staggered do a Divekick, Chi Trap, True Strike, and Unbridled Strength with Rise and Fall and Omnistrike peppered in there. Could use Spirit Siphon and Algid Aura in place of Regen and use your MP for nuking Leviathan and Pride and Joy with Thundaga. The constant ATB spam would spam and staggering should fill up your Limit Gauge fairly quickly but I'm not sure if that would be a DPS loss due to not having the Fury Ring.
Your parrying is on point and I'm quite impressed with the feat. The video was a treat to watch and you're by far better than I am. Thanks for the sharing it with us.
Rhomagus Asclepiot I have my full setup in the description. The idea was to do this run solo, but also aim for the fastest time possible. The fire elemental on weapon is purely for shiva, who is almost impossible to stagger without (as she’ll cast Frost familiars once her health goes below 80%). Lightning elemental would be helpful, but it’s not absolutely necessary to the run the way fire is.

I would attempt this if not for the leviathan fight which I already find tedious with all three members and full limit gauge. I can’t imagine doing it solo
