How tight do you want the back/shoulders. I find the bar almost touching mid thigh just by standing upright. With my standard already pretty wide grip width. Doing wider will almost turn into a snatch width in my case.
Back is tight as possible as part of bracing the whole trunk to be completely rigid. Re grip, you evidently have suboptimal proportions for WL so you have to do the best you can with what you've got.
Do you have a video about which variations one might want to use in different situations? I’m kind of casually trying to pick up weightlifting primarily for athletic development, I’ve just been doing clean deadlifts, cleans and power snatches. My clean is around 75kg while my BW is 87, that’s why I’ve been doing clean deadlifts and the normal lift.
Probably the most concise hang clean video I’ve seen. Good job!
Great video
are you popping your hips against the bar on these?
Not really - th-cam.com/video/ZjaQBkQ35S8/w-d-xo.html
