Excellent video. Sir what can be done to reduce the foul smell after the groundnut cake is put in water for a day or two ? Me and my wife always fight over this. Otherwise its an excellent organic fertilizer for plants.
Thanks for liking my video, check out my other videos too. When you soak the cake, fermentation occurs due to microbial activity and it leads to foul smell and we can't do anything to avoid it but there are few ways to avoid urself from the smell like.....placing the bucket far away from your living place like placing it in a garden or outside of ur home. Secondly close the bucket with a lid where the lid allows the gases to pass out without any obstruction. Happy Gardening.

Thank you for the video. I have a question just to clarify. First we add about 5 litres of water to 1 kg of cake. Then ferment and mix well then we add another 5 litres to it and make a liquid fertilizer. After that we use it in a ration of 1:5 that is dilute with another 5 litres before application am I correct?
The mixture now has 10 liters and the last step is to add one liter of the mixture to 5 liters of water. In other words you dilute just one liter of the mixture with 5 liters of water.

Yes you can apply directly to the soil if it's in powder form. But it takes some to get digested by microbes and be avaialble to plants. However its a slow release fertilizer and will feed the plants constantly. Glad u like my video. Thanks for that sir. Happy Gardening
Hello sir m just came across of this video of urs .. seriously appreciate how decently u discribe every thing .. but I have question sir .. should we use this fertilizer in our indoor plants who loves bright lights only .. or which season good fr this fertilizer..?? Pls pls reply
Glad you liked the video. In my experience never use any solid or granular fertilizers for indoor plants its always best to use liquid fertilizer. This can be used for outdoor bcoz as we are using a fermented solution it might smell odd inside your house if you use on indoor plants. If that's not an issue you can use it for indoor too it works well. Indoor plants are grown mostly for their beautiful vegetation hence they need more nitrogen and this fertilizer contain an average of 7% N and its good for their growth and once a month u can add this solution for indoor plants and once in 15 days for outdoor plants. Happy Gardening 😊
You're welcome. The best one will be seaweed fertilizer and I recommend Biostadt company's Biozyme crop+. 2 ml per litre of water you either spray or drench the soil.

Yes that's a good initiation, as Groundnut cake is a bit sweet it may sometimes attract ants adding of neemcake helps in avoiding ants. Well done. Happy Gardening Ms. Rao.
Strange that the fertiliser which is basically mostly nitrogen produced flowers instead of tons of leaf growth!? I mix ground peanut cake with soil as a top dressing and in potting mix, seems to work well to jump start plants, also for planting in the ground, I mix it into the back fill. This is a granulated form of groundnut cake I use which is easier to apply. It slowly breaks down so cannot damage the plant. However slurry is different. I wonder if a lot is simply washed out in the diluted slurry method with the next watering? it wont have broken down yet, when mixed with water it still has to break down to release nitrogen etc, it isn't already available to the plant in the form of slurry.
Yes, you are correct. Diluted form will have some leaching losses but since it's not soluble so the losses will be very minimal. Organic Granular form of applications are always best and safe to plants. As I mentioned this contains good quantities of phosphorus and pottasium too and the nitrogen is not readily available for heavy leaf growth. Glad u liked the video and thanks for sharing your opinions. They positively weigh a lot.
@@SimpleGardening Thank-you for your reply. Does this mean water soluable phosphorus and potassium are immiediately available to the plant in a slurry of cake form peanut meal? Or just sooner than the nitrogen is? The granulated form is more expensive and I would think not always practicle everywhere that it is available for that reason. It is the only form availble here.
Yes, by fermenting the cake, microorganisms start digesting them hence the slurry gets raised like dough and smelly and gases are released during the fermenting process....it means the micro organisms are active and working on which indirectly makes the nutrients available easily for the plants. Whereas dry fertilizer when applied micro and macro climate plays a major role as well as the microbial development in the located spot takes some time to multiply hence it takes a while to be available however the efficacy will be higher in the second method. In my experience all the nutrients when digested by bacteria and makes them available plants will takes the nutrients as per their requirement like if the plant metabolism wants to develop its root system to protect itself from Drought conditions( for example) the plant will intake phosphorous as a high priority. Since organic fertilizer losses are minimal when compared with chemical fertilizers, the availability of nutrients will there for a longer time. In view of your region Yes the peanut cake will be costlier, my advise is using the slurry method by DIY is better and coverage of more plants will be possible. Thanks for showing interest in the video and asking your queries. Happy Gardening 😊
@@SimpleGardening Thanks for that reply, makes sense. I have applied granulated peanutmeal mixed with soil as a top dressing on all my bougainvilleas, about three inches of it . I was worried there would be root burn but from what you say i don't have to worry. The monsoon rains are coming but not just yet so it's just my watering. As its dry and hot the microbes will be somewhat slowed down which is a good thing. Bougainvilleas seem to prefer organic fertilisers as their feeder roots are very fine and easily damaged. Thanks again , hopefully I wont just get a bunch of luscious leaves out of it. With some cultivars growth initiates flowers anyway, fingers crawsed.
10 to 12 kilos groundnut cake powder is sufficient for 1 cent of tilled field. However if you go for spot plantation you need 25 to 50 grams per plant.
Sir can I sundry it if not dried fully bcoz I get powder form of ground nut cake here in local oil mill n it's doesn't look like completely dried please reply sir
Sure, it's a must to sundry the powder if its moist and its advantageous to get powder form easy to use to plants. FYI, after deoiling the groundnut seed the extract so called the cake will be having a bit of oil traces, it doesnt effect our plants in anyway. If its oil then it's not a problem but if its moisture go for sun drying as u said. Thanks for watching the video.

Even though groundnut cake is available in abundance many people do not use as fertilizer instead go for mustard cake. we should bring awareness about the contents

All the best with your gardening.

Can you please tell me how to apply sesame oil cakes for Coconut trees? they are about 6 months old only.
U can use as same as I had shown for Groundnut cake process.
Sir, What is the dosage for 1 cent of tilled land ?
@@SimpleGardening thank you very much for your quick reply🙂
You're welcome
Sir. U have added 1 kg n prepared 50 litres of fertilizer. How much to give for small terrace plants. For 15 plants u r telling 250 GM's to two litre Walter diluted to three times so 250 GM's to 6 litres. In vedio it is 1 kg to 50 litres. Which to follow. For terrace growing small plants how much to give
Firstly thanks for watching the video. Here in this video I had taken 1 kilo of cake and soaked in 5 litre water.Next I added another 5 litre water and made a total of 10 litre concentrated solution. Now for applying to plants take 1 litre of concentrated solution and mix with 5 liter of water and drench the soil. Based on the size of pot u can apply from 250 ml to 1 litre diluted solution.

Hello sir, Really good informative video on organic fertiliser. Groundnut cake use is still not well known as other fertilisers hence your video is very important and useful.
Nishant - Palghar
Hi Nishant, glad u liked the video.
Is it call PBS?
I'm sorry, can u elaborate the PBS.
WHERE TO GET NEAR DELHI
Try to procure from oil milling shops in your location or else you can even find it in Animal feed shops or else some old provisions shops also sell this groundnut cake. As a final resort u can even procure online thru Amazon.
Happy gardening.
Add neem powder to the solution bcoz gr.nut fertilizer is sweet in nature, thus attracting ants and other root boring insects
25rs? Were sir?
Here in Andhra Pradesh coastal belt. G9 to an age old provisions shops and ull get the cake
From where will I get this price pl
You try at local animal feed shops, however there it will be a bit costly. 2nd option is from u can procure at old provisions shops there the price will be economical.
Happy Gardening
Can i add waste dcomposer in it?
Yes u can add, as a matter of fact as this solution contains beneficial microbes which happens due to fermentation and if u add waste decomposer it increases microbial activity a lot.
Thank you sir
Is cotton cake aslo organic fertilizer?
@@pramodsawargaonkarsawargao317 yes all plant based cakes are purely organic
I have to use it in 1acer tomato farm.then how many kg i have to use?
Even though groundnut cake is available in abundance many people do not use as fertilizer instead go for mustard cake. we should bring awareness about the contents
Towards northern india mustard cake is available abundantly whereas in south Groundnut cake is available. In terms of nutrients mustard contains 5% nitrogen whereas Groundnut contains 7% Nitrogen. Both the cakes are good for the plant as well as the soil.
Better use as animal feed.
Groundnut cake is 45 Rs per kg in our location, Dakshin kannada
That's economical.
Imp. After 2.50 min.
