Hiya ..... maybe in your next video you could show us how to test the individual cell voltage of a flooded lead acid battery with a multimeter please 😁
What is equalisation? How will one do that? Could you elaborate on that? Edit: still on equalisation. I noticed that MPPT charge controllers are advertised to offer this function alongside a BMS. I'm wondering if this suffices for the battery equalisation that you mention. (forgive the many questions).
I'm about to install luminous tall tabular 220 amps battery, how do i take of it? I dont know much about it? Do i need to keep it inside my parlour? How offten do i need to change the liquid?
Good morning boss, I am new tot his solar thing just a week old. I just installed 1.5 KVA Tasha inverter with a single battery. I observed that when I use it it not even up to 2 hours my inverter starts to indictate overload. Then it trip off n restart
Good day sir, I have a 3.5k setup, with two batteries. There are two things here, I got a battery charger to top up the battery with electrolyte, battery worked well afterwards but after using it with my new side by side door refrigerator for some weeks, I noticed the battery backup hours has reduced from about 6 hours minimal load to about 1 hour. It’s a flooded battery, I’d like to know if it’s repairable and what are the steps to remedy that. Thank you
Hi! I must say you are doing a wonderful job. I have just bought a tubular battery and noticed that the electrolyte level is not uniform in all the compartments. The electrolyte spilled in transit giving rise to that difference in electrolyte levels though not appreciable differences. Please what do you suggest? Should I top up with electrolyte or distilled water?
Hi sir good morning sir. Pls my charge controller is bsc6048 and I used carbon genus tubular batteries . Pls what the specification of battery will I set it to is it flooded battery or lead acid battery because that only two I can find in the option in setting of the batteries type no tubular battery there. Thanks.
Interesting information. So, I recently got a tubular battery for a setup and during its transportation the battery leaned over and the liquid spilled. So, we rang the dealer and reported the matter and he sent electrolyte. Is this appropriate? What should be used to refill the battery, a new battery which is yet to be installed? I'll appreciate any and all inputs. Thanks.
In your specific case, replacement with electrolyte is correct because the total volume needed to be restored. The reason only distilled water is used for top up is that it's usually the "water" part of the electrolyte that evaporates during charging, making the mixture more concentrated. Reppacement with distilled water restores the correct concentration. I hope this helps
@@cdoscope thank you for your reply. When the fluid arrived, it was distilled water. They have maintained that if I want to refill, it has to be with distilled water but I should use the float indicators to determine the need for a refill. So, going by the indicators, everything is green. I wish there was an all-instructions manual that would help a user to understand what to do in various circumstances.
@ekeretteekpo3004 they are not quite correct. Consider the simple logic - if the battery needs say 4 liters of elctrolyte (specific mixture of hydrochloric acid and distilled water, and it spill and loses say 1 liter of that mixture, replacing the 4 liter volume of fluid with plain distilled water will certainly cause a 25% dilution of the electrolyte. In the case of loss of 1 liter volume due to evaporation, its only water that is lost, so you only need water to replace the volume. All in all, it's wiser to heed your warranty provider, but tell them what I wrote and listen to their explanation
@@cdoscope alright. I'll do just that right away. Edit: By the way, since the float indicators (which are also tagged "electrolyte level indicator" in the manual) show green, it should mean that the battery cells are fully topped. So, in spite of the spillage that occurred, the cells are fully topped. I wonder what will happen if I simply added distilled water. Unfortunately, I don't know the mark where the fluid level is supposed to be at. The reason this is a bit of a concern right now is that it appears to me as though the battery was discharging a little bit faster than I was expecting.
i have issues with one of my batteries and it is no longer again when it is cut off. i used a multimeter to read it after separation the connection one will give me 12.4voit which the second will give me 10.3voit tall tubular battery. pls i need solutions?
How long have you had the battery for? Did you buy them together? Do you have the float indicators in place, and what is the level showing? You may have to first top up with distilled water and then check with your multimeter across each cell to get more than 2V.
@@smilinsunsmilinsun8056 kindly advise... Is there a way to know that the water being purchased is actually distilled? And where can we get genuine vendor to purchase distilled water from? Because I've lost a set of batteries due to purchasing distilled water from a battery charging vendor...
@@smilinsunsmilinsun8056 ok, what i meant was that you showed an equalizer device showing voltages and then the equalization that is done periodically. Is there any need for the periodic equalization if you have the equalizer connected to the batteries
@@odoohub5010no, you don't because the equaliser should do that as needed. By the way, some MPPT charge controllers come with this function (a BMS), particularly when you have more than one battery connected to each other.

It is the job of the charge controller. I will advise the use of a MPPT charge controller. Check the manual for how to set it up to "flooded" or "fla" after you have connected the battery. Always remember to connect battery before solar panels.
My Tubular is 3yrs old in April and I noticed it doesn't last more than 30 to 45mins when public power is out. I also noticed, all the cells don't go low the same time. Sometimes, I have to top 2 and up to 6 cells some times. Is there anything I can do to increase the power holding capacity?
You may need to check your entire set up and be sure that the required voltage is what is delivered to the battery. Even though the tubular battery requires maintenance, it shouldn't be that often.
After checking your setup, check with your seller or the battery manufacturer or the manual to know its specific gravity. Get a proper hydrometer and distilled water, and top up each cell with the water while checking the specific gravity to be sure it matches the manufacturer's specifications. Before this, make sure to turn off the inverter or disconnect it if you used a MCB breaker between the battery and the inverter. Realise that you may be undercharging and/over overdischarging your battery. CHECK YOUR SET-UP. If you can, use a MPPT controller. They are better suited for non-lithium batteries.
Am using my solar batteries and my inverter had and stop using the batteries for about one and half year, I restore my inverter and connected to batteries, the batteries are no longer powered. So pls could be the fault? Or is it because damp the batteries for a year. Thanks
Lead Acid batteries are not supposed to be left on a standbye mode for a long time. If not charged for a very long time it will sulphate . It needs to be constantly charged and equalized.
The batteries will need to be boosted or so. Take them to a technician who will boost charge the batteries and equalise the cells. That should revitalise them for your subsequent use.
