I'm soo damn happy about this. As a Semi-casual M+ player that has limited time, it's an absolute struggle to learn multiple spec's and classes. I just want to play one spec in M+ at a decently high level and being able to stay Disc for the second season will let me continue to improve and hone my skills on Disc. I never really planned on switching off Disc for S2, but it's nice to know that I won't be playing a dysfunctional spec.
What a cliffhanger! Great to hear that disc will be fun to play though. Think about a season where all three specs are fun and useful in all the content! I'm stoked.
The only reason why disc was meta was because of the massive buff to enh shamans with PI every 2 minutes. That's it. Disc never got a noticeable buff in their playstyle since the start of the expansion, other than slightly buffing the healing of some abiltiies that suck up a GCD. If enh wasn't needed, rsham would've probably taken its place, or MW, since they're better overall than disc in most cases.
I'm happy with the ability to move with uppies. I'm also fine with the slowness of it as well. My ability to go faster is coupled with my ability to wind up in an area that I shouldn't be, lol.
I hate disc healing, you gotta DPS to heal which is kinda weird to me. If i wanted to DPS I would play my mage and really nuke things the way I like to, I rolled a priest to heal, but then now I'm pigeonholed into this playstyle just to heal. I don't even wanna play my healer anymore.
Cant please every1 the opposit is true for me. I love disc and think holy is boring. You will see more holy priests in mythic raid coz its way harder to do stuff there as disc. And for m+ the picture and "meta" is often distorted. Ppl look at raider io and dont realise that when they look at top 100 runs they are looking at no more then few teams that are playing.
@@brad4058 all healers should dps, if youre not contributing dps and just standing there like a bot when nothings going on you're just kinda trolling. That said holy has more fun dps options than disc in live. idk about once these changes are in.
Thanks for all the videos. I'm happy to see that they continue to make changes for disc. I totally agree with you for all upgrades they can make in a raid environment. For M+, well... I love disc, but I'm just too tired of seeing priest in every valuable M+ comps. I wish holy paladin, pres evoker could be META again, and I feel so bad for specs like devastation evoker or marksmanship who are just completely forgotten...
Although my priest is my old main and is still my main healer I’ve been a devastation main since DF season 1, the way developers treat that spec is atrocious tbh. I know some specs are continually shit on (both warr dps, affliction, arcane, just to name a couple) but they have also had previous times in the meta. Dev had season 1 of DF being close-ish to the meta but the spec was honestly still in development for that season. Then they finished it for s2, let us be really fucking strong for 9 weeks then they added aug. At least marksman got some amazing changes this season. Pres and Aug have each had more meaningful changes this expansion than Dev has had in its whole existence. Why even add it? Should’ve just added evoker with aug and pres so that aug has no dps spec on the same class to shit all over
What people think disc being meta means: It's the most overpowered highly tuned healer there is. Booo! Nerf disc! What disc being meta actually means: It pairs really well with prot pally and enh shaman in organised groups. Having no kick, no curse dispel, and the stamina of a Victorian orphan make disc genuinely challenging to pug with successfully. The only reason we get into groups easily is because people think they need a TGP team to get their 11 done.
I mained Disc in DF and I feel that they have been trending upwards since the DF talent overhaul and into War Within and now we are seeing their final evolution. :D I have been maining Shaman in season one of War Within which could be worse and my alt is Priest. I started holy on Priest in season one but started doing more as Disc and really settled in to it. I am really debating whether it might be my main going forward but at least it won't be long until I play it like season one where you had to level and gear and wait for the season to really start. I see you talk about the atonement modifier and wonder what modifier can be applied to other healers. Maybe Shamans could be a scale to their mastery which effects the healing and low health. Just a thought. :D
What will the kinda "rotations/ramp" look like, like what will be your most casted and moat important spells to cast? Is it easier to play disc for 11.1 than earlier?
How badly are we gonna miss Rapture? PTR isn’t working for me. I gather the ability to blanket SWP on heals will make up for the spot loss but it is equal or meh?
With Divine Aegis rework, Inner Focus addition and Contrition going baseline, do you get to proc those Aegis shields on others with Contrition? And if so, isn't that also a big value for our tier set?
I get overwhelmed easily so all this seems awesome but I'm just worried how the play style will change. It feels like I am having to re-learn how to play disc every year due to talent changes. What is a disc ramp going to look like now without rapture?
Can they turn all cooldown reduction talents to just be a flat amount. Like it always sucks when cooldown start desyncing or taking extra long just cause you have some downtime in a dungron
@AutomaticJak will you be posting any time-gated videos on your pateron coming into 11.1, or will you be publishing straight to youtube once the 11.1 balances get locked in? I'm considering upgrading my patreon but am really only looking for access to your exclusive videos.
Was Disc ever gone? Do you feel that Disc being so dominant in S1 this mentality is just going to carry over into S2 and make them dominate in the meta in S2?
Disc is only meta because Prot Pally is meta. Prot makes up for all of Disc's shortcomings (kicks, poison dispell, spot heal). So as long as Prot is here disc is here.
@@deseanroot75 it isn't just prot paladin there, you also have to look at the healing profiles of other healers and how higher keys function with them and disc just fits the damage profile best. Issue is everyone looks at the high level meta in pugs and applies it to all level of keys which then pushes other classes out.
@@Thulite You are correct but it is a bit more nuanced than that for sure. If it wasn't for Prot filling those holes in you literally could not run a disc priest. A warrior or Druid needs more attention AND can't make up for your shortcomings. Yes the boss healing profiles work really well for disc but the trash healing profiles are diabolically bad in some cases i.e. DB LTs or any rng damage that you didnt plan for or that is out of your ramp window. Disc needs to be self sufficient like other healers. I have both Shaman and Disc at 3300+. I can carry a lot harder on my shaman when my group makes a mistake. When a mistake is made on my disc it is almost always someone else having to save the pull as I can only tolerate damage i plan for.
How does Disc's toolkit stack up to the s2 dungeons? S1 had a lot of poison / curse dispel needed but priest just had to muscle heal through it, how is s2 looking?
There’s a couple curses that deal moderate damage but not insane stonevault type stuff. Not really many (any?) poisons that come to mind and a few diseases that we can deal with. Honestly I think it’s going to come down to which healers do the most healing
Do you actually look at your weak aura skill bar or is it just pretty? I tried one but I’m so comfortable with priest I just found myself never really looking at it and it affects performance and screen clutter

At this point just delete holy or disc. We don't need 2 healing specs in a single class because they will always neglect 1. Which is almost always holy.
Oracle has far to many buffs to keep track of, which puts me off it. PI, Which Premonition I'm on, Atonements. No thanks. I wish Oracle was just more focused on giga buffing Priest shields, and giving you a stronger toolkit to prevent incoming damage (Like an Oracle seeing into the future would). If Oracle just super charged Luminous Barrier for Disc, I'd be happy.
i feel like saying something is "saved" implies it has been in some terrible place for awhile. im trying to think of a season where disc wasnt top 2 in recent years, and i can only think of very few. i honestly think disc is bad for the game. whenever its good, people invite it. problem with this is, its the worst healing profile in pugs without question. its also the most difficult to play. its rare that im on my dps characters, but it definitely happens. almost every bad experience i have with healers is with disc priests. only rival to this would be when druids are good
@CapucineAbadie yes, I can't see how it would be a problem anywhere else. But it's a pug problem specifically with disc. The problem doesn't exist with a resto shaman, for example lol. Or even a holy priest. It's pretty much just disc, and runner up to rdruid
Its still dog shit in pvp, shields where the main way we healed and played around high damage bursts in pvp. With rapture removed and no cdr for shields its going to be total crap
They nerfed it hard be removing rapture and taking away the cooldown reduction from smite! Disc is super weak when you don’t have rift and mind bender up! And rapture helped tide us over to our rift and MB!
