Great info as always! Would love to see review of the Makita XPS01 track saw. I'm invested in the Makita platform and have been considering it for a while
I know it's not a new saw by any means, but what about the Bosch GKT13-225? I've seen it show up in the top 3 in tons of written reviews but none of the TH-camrs seems to know it exists.
Why do you say the Milwaukee pack out case is better than the Systainers? I was contemplating Packouts because they are cheaper but when I looked at them in Home D. I was pretty disappointed.
I absolutely love my 36V Makita! If price weren't an issue, I'd likely go with the Milwaukee. It has a couple more features and I like the Milwaukee ecosystem, but I've used mine pretty hard for a few years and have zero complaints (for a few hundred cheaper). I could see maybe suggesting some upgrades to Makita though. The design is getting a little long in the teeth.
Me too. I’ve owned festool since the early generations and got the makita 36v the second it came out. my only complaint is the not so elegant depth adjustment. and how stiff the mitre adjustment knobs seem to get.
I bought the Milwaukee and while it was expensive it’s like the crown jewel of all my fuel tools. Every time I use it I’m more impressed, the blade that comes with it leaves an incredibly clean cut. Paired with the little 3D printed plug & dust collection, it has to be the cleanest saw I have in the shop. Although, I wouldn’t be upset to have a festool like yours haha
Thank you so much for these videos. They have been so helpful in helping me to decide which tool to purchase. You are making “buyers regret” a thing of the past.
I've had the festool and the Makita track saw and i found no difference except in the price. for that, Makita gets my vote as well! And let me add, I test my tools out on the jobsite every day and work them hard.
Thanks for the review Matt. I'm not in the market for a track saw right now but I'll keep your opinions in mind if I am in the future. I certainly appreciate your reviews and all your content for that matter!! 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
I bought it from home depot for less than $400, and turn bought the WEN track for $68 on Amazon, and as far as I can tell they are completely compatible
I bought the Ryobi track saw recently, I love it, although there are some things that I think should be fixed, who knows, maybe ryobi will release a new track saw based more off the rigid track saw later this year,
Didn't even know they made such a thing. Thanks for popping up in my feed. Got one on the way just in time. Starting a 12x20 shed in about a week and that'll be real handy.
Good job Matt! Bought one of the Milwaukee after the post you did on deals. I saw your review earlier but when they went on sale before the Holidays I jumped on it. Thanks.
Love to see the Makita’s (corded or cordless) kinda settled on their battery platform as it’s the best bang/buck/weight (Milk’s are just a tad more power, but more $$ generally and a good bit heavier and bulkier) Though, it’s about time for them to come out with an updated one as theirs is about the oldest out!
Wow, hadn't even thought about the Milescraft Saw Track option! I just need to cut down plywood for subflooring and didn't want to waste money on a budget track saw just to get the job done. Can't afford to get a decent saw at this time. Thanks!
A lot of people say Ridgid has to be neutered by TTI so it won't compete with Milwaukee and they can maintain their "good, better, best" statuses. The Ridgid having a proprietary track is so extremely stupid and definitely gives some credibility to this hypothesis. Anyways, glad I'm team red for tools and lime green for gimmicks.
Mafell and Festool are the luxury rolls Royce brands which win without entering these comparison videos, it doesn’t seem either company have really hit the states as there German but anyone who owns there tools will agree with the ‘rolls Royce’ comment earlier on
I personally don't like saws that won't slide backwards due to the anti kickback features. I use to use the scribe feature on laminate and melamine surfaced materials, but would do the scribe cut backwards and then full depth forward. Makita gave perfect results every time.
Thanks Matt for all your great videos! Can you do some corded track saw reviews for us? I figured if you already have a hose attached for dust collection, a power cord should be easy!
I've seen so many of your videos on track saws. Now I can't remember which one I wanted. What track saw can you also use to make flush cuts to like a wall ??The butter guard comes off and the blade has a cupped mounting hole so the blade bolt doesn't hit anything ?
I love the Milwaukee I own it myself. And the pack out is the best I’ve ever used. And I’ve use Makita and festool I like the Milwaukee more because of their pack out system. But the saw itself blow Makita out by far. By the way Milwaukee motor shut down n brakes right away if trigger release. So it does have anti kick back
The Milwaukee Track Saw is also available as a "tool only" option. Just in case you don't have the need for the Packout box and more batteries. Only $399 at Home Depot.
As I mentioned to Ryobi after they released that dual 40 battery belt they need to do the same with their 18 line except maybe have it in 3 or 4 battery line. This way you can run their line complete through most jobs before running out of power. Also I don't understand why they can't make all of their battery powered tools with plug in also. To many one use tools and without either option I just mentioned you have to keep having to recharge or stop and grab another battery. The battery plug in option is already on some Ryobi products. IMHO Great reviews coming from your site and they are very helpful for those that don't have the money to waste on products that only work somewhat.
With a little love the ryobi performs great, I’ve got a dust shoot cover and made an adapter for the festool dust extractor and I love it now! Would love to try the rigid one day! Great vid
Can you show the Ridgid doing the plunge with riving knife? You've started that it can in multiple videos, and i can't imagine how it wouldn't be in the way.
Hey i use a old hitachi circular saw that has dust collection that works rlly well for me might wanne look onto it. And just hitachi in general rlly underated brand
Stating blade size and cut depth would have been useful. I see most of theses saws use 6.5" blades. I wouldn't mind seeing a battery/corded 7.25" blade comparison. Personally, I'm looking for a corded track saw with a 7.25 or bigger blade.
I was looking up track saws the other day and noticed Grizzly makes a chorded track saw that comes with THREE 36 inch long tracks for $220 and I don't know why for the life of me more people aren't talking about that. That's cheaper than almost any other track saw kit I've seen.
Joining tracks straight is a huge pain in the ass, and I've done it with 2 118", 2 55" a 6 foot Stabila, etc. The longer reference lengths help but can't imagine the smaller 36". The joint is weak, and precarious when moving the track on and off pieces to cut. At 36" you are guaranteeing a joint for most cuts since the saw needs a bit of track overhang. A single 55" track does 90% of my cuts. Also, that's ignoring the likely shit quality of the tool itself. Personally, I would go with(and went) with the Makita/Festool track. Festools are cabinet makers tools, precise and lovely to use. That said the Makita platform can do it all. The sheer range of saws Makita offers that integrate with the track are also vastly superior to Milwaukee. In addition to the plunge saw, I have a 10 1/4 Makita that makes ripping 12/4 Sapele a breeze.
From my understanding on what I read from others, it seems to not be very good. I have no time with it but from the very small sample size, I am not impressed. Seems the wen is better. Edit: Not saying for anyone not to try it, just that from the looks, its worth doing a little extra research on.
I'm just saying, for $220, its the cheapest option. It was my assumption that the tool would be fairly decent since grizzly is a pretty big name in the wood working game. Either way, it seems like a decent budget option if that's what's within your price range
Always entertaining, Thank you. I use the Mafell track saw w/ a Ridge Carbide Rip blade. It's amazing. High end special purpose blades really make a difference - even though the stock blade is a quality blade. James
I can change my blade on my Festool in about 15 seconds. Flip a lever, plunge, change blade. As a matter of fact Ive started switching over to Festool slowly on most my tools. Because all the little things that take time or piss me off festools fixed. That’s why they’re expensive. And time is my money.
Hi Matt. Thank you for your review of plunge/ track saws. I would like to see a review of the Festool TSV and TS 60 track saws. Will the ts 60 used with the 2mm or so scoring cut first , do just the same as the tsv saw with the scoring blade? What do you think of these saws compared to the Milwaukee? What do you see and feel using the Milwaukee rail compared with the festool rail? These rails are different in weight and section. Keep striving for the profit that comes from doing and using the words and ways of Jesus
It's just a little hilarious that a Not-A-Track-Saw Milescraft beats out Ryobi and Skil. I like that "value" is taken into consideration in your assessment in these comparisons. Milescraft makes some really solid stuff for not a ton of money, and I really appreciate their approach to woodworking problem-solving.
I am tried of cleaning up saw dust. I use a kreg accucut XL and rip jig with normal circular saw dropping $770 is not a very good option for me. ill push a broom for $770. How does the Kreg ACS-SAW compare?
I don't see the WEN in there. But I know why, for me its perfect as I do only 90s. Also, this saw you have to pull and push at same time to keep it level or else you get flex, which I see in other saws too. For the price, it's very cheap for this purpose (table building, squaring ends). Ya ya, TS60 fes is 1k + a couple hundo for track. I'm aware. lol.
@@731Woodworks Nice to hear I have the corded version it will be nice to see if they made improvement within the cordless version. I do think I saw it comes with a nicer standard blade.
Did you test any corded ones? That usually saves some money if you don't already have the batteries and I don't think I'll ever need one when I'm not near an outlet with an extension cord. Obviously cordless is a nice convenience, but if you already have the vacuum hooked up anyway, the power cord doesn't seem like a big deal.
For what it’s worth :- If you take, cost , quality and repair/ service into account that old makita is still doing it. The cheap options all seem to come out of the same Factory with different badges and marketing . Festool are great but just cost too much to buy and maintain…should the need arise.!!!.👍
Will you please review the Grizzly 6 1/2 inch tracksaw. It has a very good budget price. But I was wondering how good it really works. Love your videos. You do a great job at comparing items.
Thanks. Makita didn't release a new one last year that I tested. These are the "new" track saws that were released in 2023. I'll look into the Makita line.
If you want to connect your 200 dollar hose to a saw that does not have the right fitting, 3d printing files are available online for the festool hose.
So why have you stopped comparing the kreg track saw? You haven’t even mentioned it since you did the review video a long time ago. Does it stack up against the ridgid, or the Milwaukee?
it would be nice to include reviews of the actual tracks themselves as some designs are far better than others, such as the Dewalt rails that connect poorly with their simple bar design that doesnt hold the tracks straight when connected together, some other brands that use cam type flat bars or others with 2 bars that are much more rigid than the dewalt one.
I've used the milwaukee dust collection bag at the job site several times and it does great for what it is. It does even better with a cover for the window on the side ( painter's tape works fine in a pinch ) and lowering the splinter guard on the front.
There is no way the Milwaukee is the best bang for the buck at their price. I will agree with how great packout is. Wen is hands down the best for the price. Festool is insane with their prices.
I would most likely favor the Ridgid given I've got some other cordless tools of theirs and would not have to heavily invest in a new battery platform.
I received a Milwaukee track saw after watching your earlier review. Excellent saw I have use it a few time so far to build some cabinet bases Pack out is excellent have added other boxes to organize extra blades. Works perfectly
Yeah...I'm not gonna lie...if Lego made a track saw, I'd be first in line for it. 😂 In all seriousness, I'd love to hear about the Bosch. Their tools are great, but it seems like few people talk about it. Matt Estlea has one, and he's the only big YT'er I've seen with it.
I have the Bosch track saw and love it. The saw itself is very powerful and the dust collection is fantastic. Its cord is also really long, which is great. The tracks, though, particularly the joining mechanism, are absolutely amazing. It's not possible to align them out of square. As you tighten the cams, the tracks pull themselves perfectly straight. I have some 3d-printed adapters so I can use my Irwin quick grip clamps that work great. All in all, I'm incredibly happy with it, the only downside is it has fewer accessories than other, more common tracks.
Question. If price was not sn object (within reason) which track saw would you recommend. I am torn between Mikwaukee and Dewalt (I have a ton of Dewalt. I really don't want another battery platform). Thank you for the great videos. 🎉
Well it’s not the first time a tool maker has made something proprietary! I was quite mad when I bought a ‘level 5’ skimming blade and then after buying the handle adapter, realized you couldn’t use a standard extension handle. No one seems to mind that RIDGID stands alone with lifetime service agreements even on batteries! (Oooops proprietary again)!!!
My ridgid tracksaw stops after every few feet like it gets bogged down while cutting plywood. I changed the blade to a finer tooth and changed battery. I still experience this. Anyone has any suggestions to avoid this??
Just had Home Depot use their panel saw to cut some plywood, at their store in Vancouver , Wa. Don't know if Home Depots all over the country offer this service for free.
Man I wish I had the money to get a track saw for myself. I love that you do videos like this! Please keep up the good work! Also, if you are pretty decent knowledgeable about epoxy stuff, could you do a video on thar sometime in the future? (Like the 'cheaper' 2 part epoxy like from Amazon versus the high end expensive stuff is there a big difference in them? Is there a big difference in the sand paper from expensive versus 'cheaper' brands? Sorry, I'm just getting into trying epoxy stuff and I have so many questions that I'd love to get an honest answer from someone trustworthy. )
The skil saw is the same as the flex Inline saw basically. I'd buy the flex saw and the miles craft if that's the route you want to go. The skil modified plate might have issues working with the mill craft.
Take the saw to the store to break down sheet goods so it'll fit in your SUV - LOL!!! I've carried home a dozen 4x8 pieces of plywood/drywall in my minivan. Would love to see someone try that in any SUV on the market...

The Wen 20V Brushless Track Saw deserves a review. Love mine. I'm also using the Powertec Track Set.
@@jeremystansell3615 it came in the mail yesterday. Look for it soon.
Great info as always! Would love to see review of the Makita XPS01 track saw. I'm invested in the Makita platform and have been considering it for a while

Thanks for feeding us information. You're very good at your reviews. And the shirt is true math! Love it. God bless you.

Yup, just picked up an SP001, I am a Makita guy until I can afford to sell it all and get Festool :D

Great reviews and summary.
I vote for Makita LXT.
Very good battery platform that is readily available, and often on sale, at Home Depot

Makita and Bosch would be good reviews.
Would love to see a review of the new festool track saw Matt.
How is there a best when these saws are not included
Yes, I would like to see the scoring festool track saw. I have a kreg track saw right, looking to get a new track saw.
I had the Kreg saw and I got the Milwaukee. You wont be disappointed.
Wow, hadn't even thought about the Milescraft Saw Track option! I just need to cut down plywood for subflooring and didn't want to waste money on a budget track saw just to get the job done. Can't afford to get a decent saw at this time. Thanks!

Big fan of your Chosen shirt. It’s an excellent show. They’ve done a great job depicting the Gospels in an engaging manner.
The Mafell is still king. If you want quality except no substitute.
Especially if you cut lots of melamine or delicate veneer.
Exactly right Festool and Mafell is the best . I guess he getting paid by Milwaukee.
I personally don't like saws that won't slide backwards due to the anti kickback features.
I use to use the scribe feature on laminate and melamine surfaced materials, but would do the scribe cut backwards and then full depth forward. Makita gave perfect results every time.
Can you review the Bosch Battery powered track saw? (Be sure to use an 8Ah or 12 Ah ProCore battery, preferably a ProCore+ battery).
BOSCH by far has some of the best quality and engineering built into its products
Outstanding comparative review!!!
I’m a Milwaukee guy, but Makita all day when it comes to track saws

kreg and festool are nice.. for me it came down to accessories that were available .. and Festool is king when it comes to accessories available.
The Milwaukee Track Saw is also available as a "tool only" option. Just in case you don't have the need for the Packout box and more batteries. Only $399 at Home Depot.
They had it for $379 with an extra blade for laminate ply a few weeks ago
Love my Ridgid! Everything a DIY guy needs who wants good quality.
Duct tape makes a dust hose adapter for every configuration
What's the advantage of buying a track saw over using a straight edge jig with a circular saw. Like the kreg jig?
Dust collection, ability to use with guide rail accessories like dovetail clamps, rail square, parallel guides, etc.
As I mentioned to Ryobi after they released that dual 40 battery belt they need to do the same with their 18 line except maybe have it in 3 or 4 battery line.
I love the shirt!! I have a tattoo on my wrist that has the Hebrew of “Loaves and fishes” and it also says it in English.. it’s a daily reminder. ❤
I'm aware. lol.
I bought it a few days ago. Will be doing a review soon.
I would like to see you review the Maffel track saw. If you can get your hands on one
God Bless Matt why you didn’t show the makita track saw and how do you rate it I’m looking to acquire one please let me know. 🙏🏽
Thanks. Makita didn't release a new one last year that I tested. These are the "new" track saws that were released in 2023. I'll look into the Makita line.
Thank you brother 🙏🏽
everyone i know uses the track saw to break down sheet goods for the table saw.Spending that amount of money for the festool or big red is just insane
Great shirt Matt. Love the video too 😂.
What do you do with these saws when you are done testing?
Next, you gotta compare some of the saw attachments. Like the kreg or skateplate.
It's not a cordless track saw. All of these are cordless
Hilti have one out now I believe, would be interesting to see how that holds up.
Great comparison. I bought the Milwaukee since I was already on the M18 platform. What a game changer!
it would be nice to include reviews of the actual tracks themselves as some designs are far better than others, such as the Dewalt rails that connect poorly with their simple bar design that doesnt hold the tracks straight when connected together, some other brands that use cam type flat bars or others with 2 bars that are much more rigid than the dewalt one.
Review of the Metabo, Fein and Bosch would be great to see :)
Can you add more track to the milescraft track to make it 12ft long?
please review the bosch line of track saws
If you need to be hooked to a hose anyway, it seems that cordless doesn't offer more than corded.
It's seventy five degrees here, alot better than seventeen below
Now a SW saw I would BUY!
How would the Makita XGT track saw feature in this list if it was released in 2023?
I received a Milwaukee track saw after watching your earlier review. Excellent saw I have use it a few time so far to build some cabinet bases
Pack out is excellent have added other boxes to organize extra blades. Works perfectly
Can you test or see if a left blade saw will work? Milescraft
What about the evolution? I’ve liked what I have seen on it
Isn't the Dewalt new for 2023? I expected it would be somewhere on the list
The DEwalt, BOSCH and Festool are by far the best tracksaws we need a SHOWDOWN Between this Giants!
Yeah...I'm not gonna lie...if Lego made a track saw, I'd be first in line for it. 😂
In all seriousness, I'd love to hear about the Bosch. Their tools are great, but it seems like few people talk about it. Matt Estlea has one, and he's the only big YT'er I've seen with it.
I'm still waiting for the LEGO Wood Shop kit
Milwaukee’s is better IMO. However the DeWALT is a good saw too. I have a review on the DeWALT as well. It’s a little quirky but very powerful
@731Woodworks I watched your Dewalt review. It certainly is an ugly duckling but loved by its mother. 😅
I will watch it again.
Thank you.
How about the master force from Menards there $199.99
Well it’s not the first time a tool maker has made something proprietary!
I have been wondering if craftsman is coming out with a track saw. I thought you might have some insight, I have not been able to find any information
Why would I need a track saw if I have a good table saw. Trying to figure out which one to get.
I made a video on that here th-cam.com/video/UAIr27EOoCc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=GMbLDZ2yL2dXBR-M
You have to review the Mafell
I use a circular saw and a straight edge. Same thing.
Just had Home Depot use their panel saw to cut some plywood, at their store in Vancouver , Wa. Don't know if Home Depots all over the country offer this service for free.
I'd love to see the new Lidl parkside battery track saw
Man I wish I had the money to get a track saw for myself. I love that you do videos like this! Please keep up the good work! Also, if you are pretty decent knowledgeable about epoxy stuff, could you do a video on thar sometime in the future? (Like the 'cheaper' 2 part epoxy like from Amazon versus the high end expensive stuff is there a big difference in them? Is there a big difference in the sand paper from expensive versus 'cheaper' brands? Sorry, I'm just getting into trying epoxy stuff and I have so many questions that I'd love to get an honest answer from someone trustworthy. )
What do you think about the Skil Track Saw on the Milescraft guide kit? The Milescraft is not much more than the Skil guide
The skil saw is the same as the flex Inline saw basically. I'd buy the flex saw and the miles craft if that's the route you want to go. The skil modified plate might have issues working with the mill craft.
festool rocks................if you can afford it. genuinely good kit, but it does cost a whack!
Take the saw to the store to break down sheet goods so it'll fit in your SUV - LOL!!!
I've carried home a dozen 4x8 pieces of plywood/drywall in my minivan. Would love to see someone try that in any SUV on the market...
