HOWEVER,
The Basilisk is a legendary reptile reputed to be a serpent king, who causes death to those who look into its eyes. You can eat reptiles though. 100 grams of Basilisk meat will net you 119 calories, 20 grams of protein, followed by 3.5 grams of fat. Basilisks do exist, without the petrification part.

Basilisk feels insane late game, and pretty ok early game, but carrying it through the mid game feels awful most of the time. The hp it gives to the first enemy actually matters in mid game and it can kinda be a positioning nightmare if you good abilities on your team.
