    At 13:06 you mention longer bolts, what did you end up buying?

    We used to grind the back of the calipers to fit 15's on our old square body Chevys

      @thomasbeyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was prepared to do the same if I had too. But so far I haven't had any problems as long as iv got the wheel spacers on. But I do think they would fit without the spacers with a little grinding

    3:00. Nylon. There's a nylon sleeve inside that telescoping ball joint that prevents articulation. Also you can use the ball joint press backwards as long as you can get it underneath the axle. How's the ZJ holding up so far?

      The supplied cups and sleeves weren't enough to get the job done with it backwards I tried if it had another 1/2 of thread it would have worked. I need to invest in a quality ball joint press. It's been holding up great so far. I haven't bent or broke anything that iv upgraded. Next upgrade will be the steering box it's got some play and leaks a little but not dead yet. It always surprises me how well it keeps up with better built jeeps that are locked and mine still has open diffs.

      @@thomasbeyer Alltrade Tools Powerbuilt kit #46 part no. 648617, 23 piece ball joint/u joint service kit. I haven't found a ball joint, U joint, wheel stud or king pin that I couldn't press in or out. Also, don't wanna bag on ya, but some of that steering box play might've come from smacking the pitman arm with a hammer 😳🤐😶

    I know I said weld a couple tacks but I didn’t mean if the ball joint just sits there. It was for flexing security.Hahaha

      Lol your exact words were and I quote " trust me when I say weld a bead on those ball joints"

    • @thomasbeyer

      And it was far too loose for just tacks and I do what I want lol

      No problem and thank you for watching. I still don't understand the difference in fitment the stock one fit better than the replacement. But I'll try another brand next time.

    If you install the lower ball joint in backwards like I did with the grease fittings facing out it will hit the ABS tone ring so definitely don't do that I'm not using the ABS so I'm just going to knock the tone ring off. They are just pressed on

  • @TheDevonwurz

    Maybe u could of added some metal to the ball joint hole than press it in

      Personality I'm not that worried about it. Im only going to be using this axle for a couple months hopefully. Keeping an eye out for a high pinion Dana 30

  • @motownXJdad9565
    @motownXJdad9565 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    so the crocodile Dundee thing didnt work? lol. did you use stock style ZJ\XJ\TJ ball joints? i thought there was a something about the uppers were different when doing the WJ swap. nice beads on the spacers. XJs and YJs have Dana30HPs. XJs from 96 up to very early production 99s have them. i got lucky and snagged a really low milage one for 125$ bucks delivered off craigs list. great vids, i like the blue collar approach, but with power tools.😁 i cant stand youtubers only using hand tools while on camera

    • @thomasbeyer
      @thomasbeyer  3 ปีที่แล้ว
