I don’t think people are surprised that an employee stole cards from the factory. I think people are surprised by the sheer amount of cards the guy was able to steal.

The sheer volume that he managed to get our seems indictive of a conspiracy; a person or persons in security covering for him, someone who was running the printing machine running out extra sheets so the numbers didn't fall short, or even a janitor who was letting him in to fish cards out the trash after they were thrown away as QC 'rejects' and dumped in the regular trash instead of one of those locked Iron Mountain shred boxes. The sheer volume seems to be beyond what you could managed by just slipping a few Shiny Rayquaza cards into your pockets during every shift, especially as these factories take security at least someone seriously.
Probably why we're only hearing about it now. There would have to be time for an internal investigation.
      Edit: spelling

I think I can mention this. It had happened prob ten years ago. I worked at UPS. There was a manager and a superviser that would take packages for gamestop prereleases. They would then sell the games on eBay before the release. The manager... She made 6 figures a year. I even went to high school with her. Very smart woman. The supervisor was a friend of hers. She made good money. Been with the company forever.
Anyway, this two numb skulls stole and sold games before their release. USP got them lmao. They put up a box for the shop. Everything looked normal. But, in the boxes they pu GPS trackers. ALSO!!! UPS found out their eBay account and bought a game from them before release.
Some people want any sort of money that they will risking giving up good jobs with health care and all that for some idiotic short term gains. makes no sense to me.
felt like wring a book :)

When I was younger, my Dad worked for Warner Brothers. When the first pokemon movie released I remember going to his office with him and one of his colleagues found out I played the pokemon ccg. I'm not joking, he opened a draw in that office, and there were at least 300 Egyptian mew cards in there, I got one for me and one for my friend, apparently the rest ended up in the garbage. Literally, all he had to do was sell them off one by one on ebay over the years and he could have gotten millions. He was done working, done worrying, he just won the lottery. Stole the lottery I guess lol but no! He had to be extra greedy. Why? Nice that he got caught though, can't have these things happen all the time.

Theft is not a surprise; especially when it comes to collectibles and cards, BUT the fact no one was pulling these high end cards, and there is stacks there, means that for over a year ppl have been buying maybe searched or “defective” product that may not have had a chance to pull said cards. This could end in a lawsuit over the secondary market.

Magic boxes come with a ratio. A written promise that there is a specific % chance of getting a certain type of card. And from that ratio, the customers have expectations of there being a specific % chance at each card on that card list.
If that card list, or ratio, is FALSE, it doesn’t matter if there are other good cards. It’s still FRAUD and should be dealt with legally.

If the company makes a mistake, and signs off on a guarantee to a customer, just like the ratios on magic the gathering and pokemon, and that ratio is wrong, it doesn't matter if they were purposefully lying or not, their products were defective.
I'm not saying press charges, I am saying they should be able to SUE under a civil case for faulty/fraudulent products. If the company doesn't comply, or is caught lying in their defense, then it should be actual fraud at that point with a criminal suite towards the company...

Was piqued my curiosity with this was what it will do to the value of sealed product from that set if it turns out to be true. If it is, that means those cards are removed from circulation, and each pack as a lower rate of pulling the most valuable cards. Now, there are so many packs and so many cards printed this probably wouldn't even affect the price, but if this story were to go mainstream what it would it do to the sentiment of the buyers?

I don't get how this is shocking. Recently someone got a case with Yu-Gi-Oh! that was full of packs with multiple starlight rare cards (these are chase cards that are 1 per two cases or 24 boxes odds may vary). That's not a factory error. That's a case that was probably marked by insiders in the factory to smuggled out with the rest and be picked up to get the cards out of the factory via a "legitimate" way and was mixed up. People scam because douchebags are everywhere.

This particular incident happened around 2 years ago. The cards were retrieved and destroyed. The printing facility has machines that hold stacks of certain cards and these machines assure that the correct number of each card that TPCI wants to have in the packs are really in the packs. Pretty sure they tracked down the person that stole these cards, and I assume they were fired and dealt with. If anyone wants to know the real facts, watch Rattle Pokemon's recent vids about this. The hit rates weren't affected by the stolen cards.

Thank goodness this person was a complete moron and tried to unload them all at once. The sheer numbers alone made it suspicious.

Absolutely agree. People who go the dishonest route may profit off of their malice, but they will fall in the long game. It affects your person & the people around you. Seeing the fear in peoples behaviors of constantly trying not to get found out. Having true peace of mind into being honest & having no worry is something you can't put a price on. Play the long & slow game. You may not be a major blockbuster success, but you will be far more successful than everyone else who falls around you. Stability & truth. Good mental & physical health.
"Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it.”

What's surprising to me is why he didn't go to a shady dealer like petesfootball they would have bought them all dirt cheap and no one would have heard a word and he would have unloaded all his stolen shit scott free
