Twin Cities| You might know Chengdu as the hometown of the giant panda, the Capital of China’s Sichuan, and the city with a booming economy as well as 2000 years of history. But as the Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, which is now the second-largest airport worldwide started to operate in June 2021, you’ll get to know the city as the new transportation hub in Southwest China. The Tianfu Airport can supply the needs of annual passenger throughput of 60 million and cargo and mail throughput of 1.3 million tons. Located in the middle of Chengdu and Chongqing, the airport adds momentum to the infrastructure construction in this big development strategy of SW China.

As a pilot who've travelled to almost every corner of the world, I can say TFU airport is one of the most efficient airport I have ever seen.

I first went to Chengdu in 2001. The original airport was TINY. By the time I left, in 2005, they had a new/rebuilt airport. It was beautiful. We went back in 2019, and I think it had been rebuilt yet again. So, I can't wait to see this new, second airport... We also got to ride the high speed trains. We went to Chengdu to ChongQing. In 2005, it was more than 15 hours by train (about 4 hours by bus). As of 2019, it took about an hour by train. We also went from Chengdu to Beijing by high speed train. It used to take more than a day (I think around 30 or more hours). As of 2019, it was around 8 hours, I think.
As a native, I would like to welcome foreigners to both cities of chengdu(which is my hometown)and Chongqing, they are going to cooperate together to build a better economic circles.

That's a lot nicer than the Chengdu airport I flew in to in 2008.
The oldest T1 is closed for reconstruction now, it will be rebuilt under the tianfu airport standard✌
The old one is not bad actually on par with any world class air port, but I was there in 2018, 10 years later than you and I heard it's rebuild or new addition.
@@jlai3861 Maybe because you were in T2, however T1 is really too old. The computers run on windows95, the plane parking area is not flat (there were a pilot who forgot to turn on the brake after docked on terminal, and the plane just slipped away and collide on another one), anyway, I just travel from T1 this January and everything was closed to get ready for rebuild.
@@jiajieGaoactually, aviation all uses outdated windows 95 software, its outdated but too expensive to change. Also, it makes me wonder how chengdu was able to survive with only 8 international gates

Does Chongqing have a large international airport? Or does Tianfu have a HSR station on the tracks between those two cities? if so it's a reasonable commute.

It's built between the two cities so I would assume they have a direct HSR station between them
1 hr 10 min train ride is available, it's about 310km.
