- Just when people are still being shocked by China's Daxing Airport in Beijing, a great sunbird is about to soar into the sky from West China and ready to amaze the world with its first ascending.
On June 27th, Chengdu Tianfu International Airport will be officially opened and put into operation, marking the beginning of a new chapter of Chengdu as China's another international hub for transportation and communication.
This brand-new airport has featured a lot of technological applications that have not been seen in any other airports. This time, right before its grand opening, we are going to take you inside the airport and get some first-hand experience in advance!

Very impressive, I'd be able to have a day out at this airport with all the shops and lounges etc! If only we were allowed to travel I'd be straight on a flight to Chengdu!

两年前我就去过，可能习惯了，因为去过有几次了，没有太过强烈的感觉，因为国内比他旧的机场还是很多了，不过成都这样规模的城市没有一个标志性的国际机场确实有点没面子，所以现在这个体面多了，自古成都是古兵家必争之地，无论物产无论经济无论人文等都有非常强大的一面，加上重庆边上，更加加重了这个区域的政治

Can’t wait to see this. The wife and I have homes in both Sichuan & Indiana so we fly in/out of Chengdu annually. Well if Covid ever ends. New son-in-law is a police manager at this airport. Tiny Chicago Int’l terminal has a 9 year remodel underway while China builds this in 5 years. That’s Illinois unions & bureaucracy for you. lol
Not to mention the cost. Chinese workers have very good work ethic.

Been to Chengdu in 2019 with my friends and we absolutely love the place! We even look forward to visiting again after the whole pandemic has cooled down.

I used to live in Chengdu but now I have lived in the US for over 20 years. I always missed Chengdu as a city. It was a big city and I never explored the entirety of it.

Eliminate queuing in airports, train/bus stations etc. would be fantastic. Especially during China's annual spring migration & other major holidays.

I wonder how international flight will be divided between Tianfu and Shuangliu in future
tianfu for long distance international while shuanliu for short distance regional
after about one year all international flights will be moved to Tianfu. You'll find major domestic carriers of int. flights (China Eastern, Air China, Sichuan Airlines) and all foreign airlines (Thailand Int., KLM, Qatar, United etc.)

Shuangliu will likely keep some international flights with short flighting time and frequent schedules as it is much closer to downtown than the new airport. Shuangliu by itself still is a very large airport (ranked 4th).

The Chengdu Airport interior design in appearance seemed impressive and crazy amazing. The airport seemed close to design of the spaceport for the extraterrestrial being I guess. Just kidding.
