I do not know this GrandMother or Family but my insides tells me that someone told her to get an Attorney and let a Jury decide her fate. She does not want to watch everyone go through all the pain, she is possibly suicidal and/or has early stages of dementia. She has remorse. She knows it is her fault. I believe she is now and will forever be tormented by both deaths.
She committed a crime. She didn't have any choice other than let a jury decide her fate. If she were truly sorry, she'd have admitted guilt & taken her fate. No. She has to put the entire family through this hellish experience yet again. What a selfish, unstable person. Lock her up for the maximum time! She'll have it easy in prison, probably Spend her happy retirement from being a principal behind bars. No excuses.
Horrible thought. Over the summer my air stopped working in my car and I had to grocery shop and drive 15 - 20 minutes across town. It was 95 degrees out and It felt like baking in a furnace, even with the windows down and air blowing from the windows. I couldn't get out and in the store quick enough.
Her mother was at a hairdressing appointment, after which, instead of going to pick up her baby, she drove herself home and waited for her husband to pick her up hours later.
Two baby funerals in less than a year!! This poor family's been devastated! My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone this touched! RIP Ezra and Uriel.❤
I truly do not feel like this grandmother had any ill intentions with either of the grandchildren's deaths. It is a tragic situation all around and I cannot imagine the torn feeling her poor daughter has....I did see an interview with the daughter and she feels so torn b/t the love for her children and tge love for her Mother.
I don’t think she had ill intentions either, but there are some deficients present resulting in negligence. She should still be held responsible. It’s all still so sad 😢
I don't think she had ill intentions either but she's not willing to do the only possible thing she could do to make amends and that is to plead guilty and not put her daughter and son in law though this trial.
Grandma obviously had some sort of cognitive issues. The poor baby was failed by her mother to allow someone who had such a history watch her baby. Who falls asleep while watching a 1 year old?!?!
The mother had her hair done and did not check on her baby after her appointment ,the mother went straight home instead and had her husband pickup the baby several hours later, did not call to check on her baby.
I understand we can’t bring the first case into this one, but how is it that she could get away with the death of her first grandchild when she fell asleep and the child wandered off. That is disgusting. How do we not know that this lady is just a killer?
the grandmother should be beyond ashamed she took this to trial after what she put her daughter and SIL through TWICE. her daughter still loves her too, i despise this woman for not pleading guilty. no accountability.
Maybe they’ve resolved their feelings with grandma? Maybe the defense said roll the dice??? Throw her in prison but her mind has already punished her. She’s destroyed.
Why would the mother of the baby be so irresponsible to have her mother watch a second child after that child drowned under her care? This to me was highly negligent. Both of them were "careless".
Adult kids shouldn’t look to their parents to babysit at the drop of a hatr or as often as some people do. There is a reason why people have kids when they’re young. Adult children should never expect so much from their parents when it comes to babysitting or anything else. Just because she may still drive a car and do other things doesn’t mean she qualifies for babysitting. She like most parents probaby didnt want to tell her daughter no. Sometimes adult children need to think before asking so much of their parents. it is very sad. It is sad that people have to work so many hours and don’t have time for kids in the first place.
This Mother TOOK her Children to work WITH her! The only reason Uriel was not with her is because she wanted to get her hair done and have a little break. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with that. ALL Moms need some me time. And by the way they are not billy goats they are Children. Another thing, as a GrandMother, I had the option to say I could not watch my GrandChildren at the 'drop of a hat' but there was absolutely nothing wrong with my Son asking me to do so. He would not have known if I had plans. The reason I had my Son when I was young was so I would be young enough to full experience his growth into manhood and always hoped he would marry and have GrandChildren and he did. I did not have my Parents or my In-Laws watch him because I was busy or had plans, unless they were special plans. I find your post to be very prejudicial and assumptive.
The mom is entitled to me time but there are people who take advantage of family members for free childcare when they know they’re not completely capable. Both things aren’t mutually exclusive
Yep there’s no way I’d trust my mother to watch any of my babies. My oldest is 6 now and we’re now just dabbling with the idea of an unsupervised visit.
@@GrammyDawe I agree with everything you say. She should not be blaming someone for simply asking her to babysit. In my opinion, it was an olive branch, because the Grandmother was actually responsible for the other Childs death. Now the Grandmother is given another chance, and will feel that the daughter does not hold it against her... just to go and do it again?????? Grandparents are old enough to say no, if they don't want to babysit or say they have plans. No one is expecting them to put their lives on hold at the drop of a hat!!

This grandma had a lot on her mind that day yet another horrible thing happened on her watch. As a mother though I would first go get my child right after my appointment. My mother would not have my child longer than I needed her to. Second to try to regain trust I would be calling/texting her to check on my baby. I would also ask my dad to watch. I would do all I could to make sure she was never alone with my child until I was comfortable with it. Sorry this was horrible and this lady will live with this the rest of her life. I just believe something is off.
Her daughter was late picking baby up... Granma said if daughter was just one hour earlier for pick up, maybe baby would have lived... Wow. Sounds like she may have been quite angry daughter was late... Wow...
Doesn’t matter if the mother was late picking up the baby . The grandmother still left her in the car for several hours before the mother was due to collect her child .
If that happened to me once I would never want to watch another grandchild alone again. I missed my exit going to work one day and suddenly I didn’t know where I was for a minute nor remembered doing it and it terrified me for weeks. As we age memory issues come and go without warning. She’s definitely having early dementia or Alzheimer’s symptoms. So tragic for the whole family. 💔
I believe this might be a tragic case of mom having either dementia.. or no boundaries~not knowing how to set limits or say no to her daughter. Who lived right there on their property for free so may have presumed upon her mother for childare continually. Her mother had kept her granddaughter at least four days the previous week eg. Yet even then mom stayed gone for 5 HOURS.. for her 1-hour hair appt.. I thought she worked there or ran the office on site? And even after the tragic loss of Ezra the 16mo old which clearly her daughter didn't believe was intentional~rather than just paying for childcare it looks like she went right back to shifting her responsibilities onto Mom despite knowing she wasn't capable. Grandma may have dementia~this is heartwrenching
Has she been examined to rule out early onset dementia? Something isn't right . I can't put my finger on it, but if there's no cognitive deficit I have to wonder about mental health issues. So heartbreaking all the way around.
OH, I see now. The never-ending sobs of her feeling sorry for herself about not being able to face anybody is sickening. She's embarrassed about letting her granddaughter cook in her car? really, woman!
What would you say if she was being stoic and detached? Of course she is sobbing, her GrandBaby died and it was from her neglect. I am NOT saying she is innocent in any sense but she still has the right to feel the pain that she is feeling not only for her GrandBaby, but for her Daughter and Son-In-Law, her own Husband and, yes, for herself.
I don't agree. I think there is clearly something more going on with her. I don't think she intentionally left the kid in the car or let the child drown. She clearly has cognition issues.
She was too busy sleeping napping with her dog when he drowned. Then after she got back from eating with her full belly she didn't neglect her mutt then either when her granddaughter cooked while her mutt was safe and sound. Gam gam is evil
@@stefmms6280 But a child still died. People have 'forgotten' their child is in the car, and gone to work for 8 - 10 hours before realising ... they don't get off with it either. Someone has to be accountable for this little girls death. They let her off the first time and claimed it was an accident with the little boy, now this????
This woman sits in there saying “me me me and I I I.” Well that baby never gets to learn how to speak! Maybe she should’ve been repeating the babies name in that interrogation interview instead
This seems to be a more frequent occurrence with babies being forgotten about in cars. I wonder on each of these cases if these people forget their cell phones. I imagine not. This is horrible.
I’m sorry but those babies would have been better off with wild dogs. They both would have been better protected. This woman either has serious dementia or is pure evil. How dare she sit there crying for herself.
I’m glad I heard this bc now I do feel she genuinely forgot. But now I need to know why? And my question is if it was a health reason I wonder how this should be judged. But if it was any thing besides something health related that has affected her brain she should be punished.
Listen to what she says. I'm not picking on you at all. It's so hard to comprehend. Her words are all about feeling sorry for herSELF and not wanting to face anybody. Nothing about the baby. Only about her. It's more than heartbreaking.
I want to know what crucial, completely unavoidable, matter of life or death errand Mommy was on, that necessitated her leaving her child with someone who'd caused the death of her first child?
So the daughter flat out lied in her interview when she said they didnt trust her after the first baby died. This woman just said she had the baby 4 days the week before. The parents need to be charged as well
People ignore the fact the the grandfather was also at the house when both babies died and is just as responsible. First baby died when he went "shopping" and left the door unlatched while gran was zonked out on sleeping pills and the baby was left to wander the place alone until he drowned. Second baby left to cook to death in the car while granny played the piano and fussed over the dog after a boozy lunch and grandad "mowed the lawn". It is a miracle their daughter survived to adulthood.

That's a hateful, awful thing to say. The grandmother was responsible for TWO deaths of her daughter's babies. She could've saved the world the trouble of dealing w/her by taking a handful of whatever meds she was on & hoping for the best for her family. Making then go through this trial after the second child was killled is beyond the pale.

I believe she does have medically Problems.
They would see signs .. she always kept her lunch and church activities straight
They’re not allowing the facts of the first death to come in to this trial.
The do not allow previous acts to come into a new trial.
That paramedic slipped it in that they had been there before.
Not right
Jury is going to be furious when they hear about that and the circumstances.
Seems like the mother should have known with the previous accident to leave her mother with the children
The first accident was deemed an 'accident' and they did not take it any further. All the Grandmother had to do was look after the child for a few hours!! After the first time you would think she would take special care of this baby.
It is beyond the pale that TWO grandchildren DIED in her care!! The fact that her daughter placed another child in her care is mindboggling!
No excuses.
Nah gam gam only feels bad after the fact. She didn't neglect her mutt.
@@mzdkkellershe didn't want to take it to court! She was advised to do so
My very first thought if she has the beginnings of Alzheimer’s.
@@katbedbury389 she literally was talking and playing with her mutt. She took better care of her mutt than her own grandchild
I couldn't imagine a worse death than suffering in a hot car. The precious baby was probably screaming for her mother. Its just awful.
Once is an accident. Twice is a crime.
I don't think she had ill intentions either but she's not willing to do the only possible thing she could do to make amends and that is to plead guilty and not put her daughter and son in law though this trial.
Do you remember where you saw an interview with the mother ??
Grandma obviously had some sort of cognitive issues. The poor baby was failed by her mother to allow someone who had such a history watch her baby. Who falls asleep while watching a 1 year old?!?!
Agree.
She sure got to her lunch with friends ok
Why does this keep happening? What is happening that parents, grandparents and sitters forget that there are children in the backseat?
A selfish, it’s all about me world. Sadly children have become a burden and not a priority!
People never forget their cell phones however just the baby.
The Adult Children part 😂
@@GrammyDawe I agree with everything you say. She should not be blaming someone for simply asking her to babysit. In my opinion, it was an olive branch, because the Grandmother was actually responsible for the other Childs death. Now the Grandmother is given another chance, and will feel that the daughter does not hold it against her... just to go and do it again?????? Grandparents are old enough to say no, if they don't want to babysit or say they have plans. No one is expecting them to put their lives on hold at the drop of a hat!!
I i i i i me me me my my but not one word that i heard about how that poor baby suffered. Grandmas 'grief' sounds like grief fir herself not fir the angel baby.
If these both were accidents she would NOT put her daughter through this. Guilty for not only being a murderer x 2 but an awful, selfish mother.
If the grandmother fell asleep and let her 18 month grandson wonder off to the pond to drown. Why do the parents leave a 7 month baby under her care again? Parents are more at fault here for placing their baby under a careless , neglectful and endangerment care!!!The grandmother needs to be evaluated by a doctor, to see if she suffers from Alzheimer’s or dementia?
This is not a mistake. What she did was negligence. She must go to prison. Guilty guilty guilty. The grandmother neglected the baby.
I think manslaughter. She obviously didn't mean it.
Why are we not able to see the video of the interrogation?
They typically won’t release it until after the trial is over. Once it’s all done I bet we will get it before her sentencing hearing.
What was the outcome of this case?

How could she forget the baby? At some point in the day, she would’ve thought about lunch or been asked how her lunch date went. She would’ve remembered the baby being there.
Did u see a different dad left his daughter in the car in their driveway so I could sneak away and play video games? He let her sleep bc if he woke her up then he’d have to parent which to him I guess was no fun. His wife is a doctor and had already scolded him about doing that bc…forgetting her but she was ok . Detective did a crappy job.
I doubt that… you know she will for ever be haunted by this… she probably has dementia know doubt..😢 her kids should have recognized it to.. my mother had.
I agree that daughter should have went and picked her baby up or at least called and checked on her baby…. Even when my daughter started daycare I called and checked on her at every break I got at work… she was always on my mind . First before anything else.❤😢😢
I could not be her. I would not go on.
Her pain is so raw during interrogation. It’s so freaking tragic. I just don’t even know how to feel about this.
I think I would have to plead guilty tho not sit there dragging my daughter and son in law thru THIS after I neglected two of their children to death
She needs to go to jail
This grandma had a lot on her mind that day yet another horrible thing happened on her watch. As a mother though I would first go get my child right after my appointment. My mother would not have my child longer than I needed her to. Second to try to regain trust I would be calling/texting her to check on my baby. I would also ask my dad to watch. I would do all I could to make sure she was never alone with my child until I was comfortable with it. Sorry this was horrible and this lady will live with this the rest of her life. I just believe something is off.
Victim blaming… real cute
The dad was there last time. He went shopping while she and Grandson slept.
Her daughter was late picking baby up... Granma said if daughter was just one hour earlier for pick up, maybe baby would have lived...
Wow. Sounds like she may have been quite angry daughter was late... Wow...
But she was excited to watch the other grandson How come nothings happened to him
Doesn’t matter if the mother was late picking up the baby . The grandmother still left her in the car for several hours before the mother was due to collect her child .
@@toria5837Maybe Grandma loves & values her other daughter
The father was picking up the baby not the mother
Not true as kaila wasn’t picking up the baby at all
Why are they not showing the video of the interrogation? Just audio….
This is the oddest interrogation. Officer sounds more like a counselor than an interrogator. Still waiting on some questions.
This case is so heartbreaking
If that happened to me once I would never want to watch another grandchild alone again. I missed my exit going to work one day and suddenly I didn’t know where I was for a minute nor remembered doing it and it terrified me for weeks. As we age memory issues come and go without warning. She’s definitely having early dementia or Alzheimer’s symptoms. So tragic for the whole family. 💔
She keeps everything else straight like lunch with friends . My mom had Alzheimer’s. I doubt this woman does!!
She's crying for herself the whole time wtf
Victim blaming? Not very kind. I will agree that this is heart wrenching and that GrandMom may have early onset of Dementia.
No she doesn’t and I’m sure her lawyer had her tested right away. A cat scan would rule it out I believe
I haven’t read or heard the part where Kala and her husband lived on her parents’ property. I thought they had their own home
Yup, and she’s already planning her escape out of town so as to not having to face anyone & wants out of the interrogation room.
@@NancyClue932 Wow you know this GrandMother?
What would you say if she was being stoic and detached? Of course she is sobbing, her GrandBaby died and it was from her neglect. I am NOT saying she is innocent in any sense but she still has the right to feel the pain that she is feeling not only for her GrandBaby, but for her Daughter and Son-In-Law, her own Husband and, yes, for herself.

Has she been out of jail all this time? What a horrible woman! Guilty! Life in prison!
I don't agree. I think there is clearly something more going on with her. I don't think she intentionally left the kid in the car or let the child drown. She clearly has cognition issues.
These Medical Tests Should've been done.
She was too busy sleeping napping with her dog when he drowned. Then after she got back from eating with her full belly she didn't neglect her mutt then either when her granddaughter cooked while her mutt was safe and sound. Gam gam is evil
Glad your not on the jury
@@stefmms6280 But a child still died. People have 'forgotten' their child is in the car, and gone to work for 8 - 10 hours before realising ... they don't get off with it either. Someone has to be accountable for this little girls death. They let her off the first time and claimed it was an accident with the little boy, now this????
This woman sits in there saying “me me me and I I I.” Well that baby never gets to learn how to speak! Maybe she should’ve been repeating the babies name in that interrogation interview instead
If she was sorry she would say she is guilty!
“Makala will never be able to ‘get over’ this. And, I’ll never be able to see her again.”
Yup! That’s called justice.
What interrogation is mostly her alone in the room crying
Did she cry at any other point in court? She is crying now. Pity party.

TWO grand babies, she has been responsible for two grand babies deaths !!! Just unbelievable!
Mother leaves baby 4 days out of 5 with grandma, why have a Baby?
Second child in her care to die. Unfortunately, the jury will not be made aware of this
Wow that's just crazy. Part of the reason the daughter is following through with this is because of the previous death. She forgave the first one.
The first child died by drowning. Evidently she had taken a sleeping pill and was askew and he wandered out and drown. Let that sink in.
@ I could see someone saying that bc they are so ashamed of themselves. I wouldn’t want to face my family either.
@@ameswho9548True! She’s been through this before & had practice facing people in hard circumstances. It’s all about her
If it’s alcohol induced dementia they’re probs gonna send her to a mental facility. If it’s something else medical it might be considered manslaughter
Twice?
I’m thinking that she is being detained in the police car…bet the air conditioning was left on for her. 😤
I want to know what crucial, completely unavoidable, matter of life or death errand Mommy was on, that necessitated her leaving her child with someone who'd caused the death of her first child?
Was she checked for dementia? What was the insurance on both babies?
She's not even looking up, so I don't think she's actually crying!
The crying is on a tape recording of her interview at the police station it is just being played to the court
So the daughter flat out lied in her interview when she said they didnt trust her after the first baby died. This woman just said she had the baby 4 days the week before. The parents need to be charged as well
You are indeed a terrible person.
Um, no
She just wanted a normal relationship with her mom like most of us have or had. Poor thing, two.
@teresathayn5170 having a normal relationship with your mother after your child dies in her care is out of the question!
Ghastly that she was in charge of a baby when the couple lost a son in her care only the year before. It blows my mind those poor children..
How on God's green earth, does this happen? Two babies? What in the world, is wrong with this grandmother????
This woman has memory loss
Nope. Remembers all her lunch’ and church activities. No way!
Attention, I’m annoyed at the lack of knowledge of some of you who comment on here about this being the second time a grandchild died in her care. It’s important to do your own independent research on crimes before you make any comments. 😤 This woman killed another grandchild a boy in 2021. The child of the same mother! Look it up! Is Uriel's mother charged with negligence? complicit to endangering her child's welfare? I mean, mother "held back tears" whilst testifying.
She should never have left her with her mother esp after knowing the first child drown because she had taken a sleeping pill.
@@lisaenglert3202 She has stated in interviews that she did not know. She said she was pregnant with Uriel at the time of Ezra's death and was afraid of miscarriage due to severe stress, so she did not read the police report herself. I think she is a people pleaser. She just tried to do more than she was capable of handling. Even though everything she was trying to do was easy and enjoyable it was just too much to handle for her. As we get older we have to know our limits, prioritize and start saying no to people. This is so tragic.
Dementia? Memory issues?
Easy to blame Grandma. Even though she was busy herself with a prayer meeting, her daughter wanted 'me' time at the hairdresser and didnt come back to get her after the 75min appointment. Rather, she went straight home and waited for her husband to pick up the baby after work. A few hours later.
