For people assuming she should have ran away: The assumption that she might have lived if she got out of the water, is very unlikely as 469 was predating on her for whatever reason. That means he was hunting her. He would have chased her down. She had to stand her ground as that was the only way that she might have saved herself. It's complicated but its similar to how you, as a human, in certain circumstances, would only have the chance to live if you fought back. This is usually your only recourse when a bear decides that instead of just mauling you, it's going to EAT you. If a grizzly wants to eat you and is calmly stalking you like prey, or he rushes you and despite you attempting to play dead, he starts casually eating you, you're probably dead meat. Black bears on the other hand are more likely to respond to you attacking back, because you're more evenly matched sometimes and for other reasons we don't know. But yeah that logic, the logic of it being a bit of a more even match might help you understand why her defending herself and not backing down was her best bet, especially because the bears were VERY evenly matched. The only real monsters are the ones that systematically murder members of their own species even if they are aware of the pain they are inflicting and the ethical ramifications, I hope you can figure out what animal I'm talking about.
@steven-u1q I literally said that people are also monsters. Funny thay you bring up Dahmer, a serial killer. Now out of the worlds population, how many people are serial or were serial killers? Definitely not 100% ,but another fact is that 100% of male brown bears will kill and eat cubs so they can mate with the mother. They will also overkill moose and elk calves
There’s gotta be something else going in because the bear was murdered skillfully. 469 holds 402 below the surface just enough for himself to breath knowing 402 would drown. That other beat is witnessing the whole thing . Domestic violence looks like to me . They fight out there for awhile. She even swam away. And he pursued her. He’s already committed to killing her ? She’s fighting but they both know she’s going to die. Thanks for keeping it real and not blurred. Real live is what I choose to watch . 👍🏼👍🏼
If you watch carefully you will see at least 2 fresh wounds on the boar bears left shoulder. Probably from 402. He is a big bear and apparently wanted revenge. Mean is mean. Bears are so much like violent humans that the simply have no non-violent genes. They learn and remember just like us. Once that shoulder felt torn his grudge went into overdrive. Others have commented that if 402 had left the river she would have lived. I agree BUT...he would have attacked 402 every time they crossed paths and he would eventually have killed her when he had the opportunity. @@348Tobico Those are his natural markings. 469 had a diamond-shaped blonde patch on his left shoulder and splotches on his head. Bears don't hold grudges; that is a human characteristic that people attribute to wild animals in the same way people anthropomorphize bears in Disney media. Bears don't look at things and categorize them either. They live on pure instinct which is based on opportunism. A person may be food or a threat. Another bear might be food or a threat or a mate; it all depends on the situation. just ran across this video, I've seen bear fights before, on national geographic or online but never have I seen one kill the other, normal one gives up and walk away, but this seems as if he's going to eat her, I guess that's why they're called wild animals.

402 didn’t stand a chance, 469 found an easy meal. 402 was also not a young female, yes bears will feed on other bears, there is a reason for that... bears do not like to use much energy in hunting, this was an easy kill for 469 and took complete advantage of the situation. Know some are saying 402 was completely healthy, that should be questioned due to just her age alone! 469 is also a few 100 lbs heavier than 402. The circle of life in the wild, the weak and frail are removed! A new female will take into that role of mating and the cycle will continue! 469 at some point will succumb to the same fate of being eaten by other bears and animals!

@deniseh5269 That's really unnecessary. You have no idea what happened to Otis. No one does. He could have simply not woken up from hibernation. To speculate like this when someone is already upset is cruel.

Yes. I saw these beautiful creatures dance with a brown child in the jungle book. These bears are kind and like wearing grass skirts. Their deaths are tragedies. Stupid elk are just big dumb animals that dont dance and sing.
I saw a boat going by and I thought maybe they would try and distract the fight end it,but they just kept going, maybe didn't even see or heard them with the sound of the motor. Glimpse of hope ?
no one is allowed to intervene with wildlife in a national park. it's a naturally occurring event and sadly, we just have to let it play out. it's for all of the bear's best interest long term. a couple months ago one of Grazer's cubs was attacked by a male and was suffering for days before the little guy finally passed. hard to watch but it must be as it is.
Why didn't the Rangers stop it??? 😢 Is the salmon run horrible this year that a bear would feel the need to predate on another bear? Otherwise, what a jerk of a bear to be surrounded by salmon and take the life of a bear!
We get it, nature is brutal, stuff like this is commonplace but it can still be sad whilst being understandable. People are allowed to have opinions, nothing infantile about that.
There was much more to this story. 469 caught 402 and 477(on the shore) in the act. 469 was overcome by jealous rage. This wasn't the first time, you know. 469 could only be pushed so far. She was going to divorce him and take everything. He says she was the love of his life to this day. But he had to send a message. In the aftermath, it seems 469 and 477 have been seen denning together, though they claim to just be friends. Sure they are....... But then, what consenting adult bears do in their dens is none of my business.
Hey I have no idea what any of you are talking about. Can someone explain? Sounds like a marriage gone wrong not wild bears acting on primitive behaviour
@@OttoByOgraffey Exactly! But I can't help but empathize with 469. He was obviously conflicted. But that long glance to the shore at 477 sealed 402's fate. I was hoping 469 and 477 would just leave and start over somewhere else. I wasn't a fan of 402 but she didn't deserve to die like that.
He really let her float away like she was gonna live, before swimming back over just to lock his jaws over hers and hold her underwater until she drowned... May I request a FEMALE bear to be stuck in the woods with? Almost as if it were personal... A man will shoot you, the kids, the dog and himself, but in animals? The only real monsters are the ones that systematically murder members of their own species even if they are aware of the pain they are inflicting and the ethical ramifications, I hope you can figure out what animal I'm talking about.
@miquelescribanoivars5049 We are 100% monsters and also animals. Bears are monsters and you can't convince me otherwise.
Ask jeffrey Dahmer about being a monster, he was 100 times more of a monster than the bear who killed 402
Circle of life at its best!
402 is a beautiful bear and is in a lot of famous bear photos sad footage but this is the animal world RIP.
Oh geez..... That's sad. I wonder what the conflict was that they stayed in the river instead of ending the conflict & going separate ways.
ONLY VERY FOOLISH PEOPLE THINK ANY BEAR IS JUST LIKE DISNEY PRODUCED MEDIA. No intelligent person can even passively think that way except in an environment COMPLETELY WITHOUT WILD ANIMALS. 402's passing makes room for another apex predator in a very deadly neighborhood. IF YOU BELIEVE IN "BAMBI" RENT A FANTASY THAT SAYS IT IS A FANTASY, STOP WATCHING ACTIVITY AMONG APEX PREDATORS THAT HOLD GRUDGES AND LOOK AT ONE ANOTHER AS FOOD, JUST LIKE THEY LOOK AT HUMANS.
People are a predator to bears, so a bear can see us as a threat (the entire reason momma bears go berserker all over humans to protect her cubs.) They can see us as food (Grizzlyman :() The last thing that I'll point out is that the assumption that she might have lived if she got out of the water, is very unlikely as 469 was predating on her for whatever reason. I do admit though that fighting out of the water would probably have made it much harder to kill each other...and she obviously couldn't have drowned (which is how she actually died.)
I know this stuff because there's a video about the incident where rangers and other people from the park or whatever explained what actually happened. The other bear behavior stuff can be verified by reading the book "Bear Attacks: Their Causes and Avoidance" by Stephen Herrero, which is the gold standard in the bear behavior world as far as I've seen.
Sorry if I come off rude or blunt, I'm just like that. And then I like to be a know it all lol.
The feud runs deep, they could bearly stand one another.
@@plaguerat6356Bears do hold a grudge So do wild cats. There is proof of bears and tigers holding grudges. It is not only a human trait. Many animals hold grudges. Racoons will hold them indefinitely. Not sure what you read or watched but that is false. You even said many things that prove they hold a grudge. He was predating her. Something happened between them and he held a grudge. Their is so much we don't know about brown bears. Even the so called experts get mauled and killed. They eventually all have a time up. They find out they knew nothing when reality sets in. I have been hunting in bear country my whole life. Brown bears are the mist unpredictable animals on earth next to hippos. Never trust one or never trust an expert. Carry a gun. Yes have bear spray with you but pull that gun out first. Bear spray has failed many times. If their is any wind you are screwed. Carry a 10mm if you care about your life in bear country.
🤣He caught her cheating lol n snapped then he said to hell with both of ya
He held her head down. 😢
A bigger bear chased him off and claimed the carcass for himself.
I admit to never seeing such a relentless attack by one bear on another - now, wolves will kill an unknown lone wolf…but typically don’t consume the dead wolf. Mother Nature threw me a curve ball on this incident!
just ran across this video, I've seen bear fights before, on national geographic or online but never have I seen one kill the other, normal one gives up and walk away, but this seems as if he's going to eat her, I guess that's why they're called wild animals.
Mother nature at its best
Only the strongest survive.
Её река убила,если бы на суши дрались,то от усталости они просто разошлись бы,а так, другому медведю не повезло,захлебнулся.
😢 Do bears cannibalize?
WHERE are the police? WHY don't we have teeth and claw laws to prevent this? Is this male bear from VENEZUELA?
These are" bidens border bears", they come into other bears territory, claim it as their own, and evict resident bears. If Biden bear wakes up and feels like it's a good morning for murder, they have at it.
Wow you have a warped sense of reality. If your actually comparing a grizzly bear and their predatory killing to human beings ..... make it make sense
Damn homie used the drowned and pound technique
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Aw man I know this is nature but its sad.
Almost as savage as humans.
What about the bear sitting on the shore?
Likely a liberal bear.
@@biblejohn4681 🤣

Bears are not monsters, but they do kill for a living. The circle of life is a real bitch.
Bears will be bears..
Always heartbreaking. Sleep peacefully sweet angel ❤🌷
Is that her cub? If yes, it it old enough to fend for itself and to den for the winter alone? Naure, but still heartbreaking.
How easily he drags 400 pounds!!! These bears are soooo strong
Is he bear 401 now? Is that how bear rankings work?
What a savage creature. Some days humans are worse, some days they are better. At least we try.
This bear gets a new fitting name that serves his personality the name is demon bear,no longer patches
Life is not fair it's hard, something to be learned
How sad,
To many bears
Anyone here commenting about how disgusting this is or why didn’t they try and stop it needs a HUGE reality check. It’s a freezing cold DARK world not peaches n’ cream…..
Yep. Anyone with enough life experience would have to agree with your comment.. animals prey on each other and so do humans
I had no idea that bears were cannibals..
Lots of spawning salmon are breathing easier
Do bear eat other bear?
She put up a fight at least. 469 looks if he is going bald with all the missing hair.
If you charged me $5 for every pixel in this video.. you’d owe me $50
I feel like this bear has killed this way before. It looked like he tired her out and then went in to drown her once she was exhausted. But i bet they hunt this way with other animals as well so who knows.
He most likely has killed other prey by doin this before so he knows how to use the water to his advantage. I didn't watch the video bcuz I don't want to but from reading the comments? Yeah seems like he knew exactly what he was doin. Bastard lol
Eating berries one minute...Each other the next.
Do anyone knows why he kill her?
poor 402
402 was drowned. RIP 402.
I realize that this is nature, and it's not Disney, but I just couldn't watch it!
circle of life....
Terrible brutal animal
Wait a minute. I thought males never attacked female bears like this. If they do, why dont they go all the way when a mom is protecting cubs? Why stop there?
Katahdin, Katahdin
It didn't look like a real fight. Almost looked like they were buddies just messing around and it got out of hand.
I don't think he was trying to kill and eat her. Looked more like a whoops, what's wrong are you gonna wake up? Here I'll drag you to shore so you can get up
I hope that didnt happen to Otis.
Good point. He was definitely a vulnerable bear.
Of course it did.
@deniseh5269 That's really unnecessary. You have no idea what happened to Otis. No one does. He could have simply not woken up from hibernation. To speculate like this when someone is already upset is cruel.
@@deniseh5269 Can you provide evidence for your statement?

Welcome to Alaska.
We do not to be reminded by people how nature works we are intelligent and get that part but having empathy and emotions is what makes us special as humans and sets us apart I refuse to be desensitized loving pure and chast from afar expecting nothing in return is the purest form of love and expressing grief is natural if you are not affected by this then I say you are on your wY to giving up your human race card
Other species have been known to express empathy and emotion
Thats what they do can't do nothing about it that's what you called wild nature
Unbearable
🤣🤣🤣
Male bear kills another female.
402 got PWNT
😂😂
💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔
He drowned her coldblooded
Hey bear she’s dead now leave her alone, gone bout your business and fish
😢😢😢😢😢
Some bears r just down right mean
Bears kill deers = OK
Bears kill elks = OK
Human kill animals = OK
Human kill human = OK
Bears kill bears = OH MY GOD IT’S SHOCKING!
Yes. I saw these beautiful creatures dance with a brown child in the jungle book. These bears are kind and like wearing grass skirts. Their deaths are tragedies. Stupid elk are just big dumb animals that dont dance and sing.
Seriously the fuck is wrong with people? Sitting here talking about how cruel this is while their eyes are glued to the screen
Killed by a cannibal! What a disgusting act!
Damn nature! You scary!
@@lachrymarum_ I understand,thank you.
Wow, she must've gotten away with cheating too many times and told lies on him, so guess he said I am whatever you say I am, get over here💥😂😂😂🤣
That lifeguard sat on the bank, watched the entire event, and never even attempted to save the drowning bear.
Ok now the feminist that says she would choose a bear over a man 😅
Why didn't the Rangers stop it???
😢
Is the salmon run horrible this year that a bear would feel the need to predate on another bear? Otherwise, what a jerk of a bear to be surrounded by salmon and take the life of a bear!
Because it’s nature? Why would they interfere with the natural way of things that what would be WRONG. No human interference in nature!
It's horrible and sad, but they absolutely should not have interfered, and it's deeply shameful to suggest otherwise.
Nothing "sad" about this at all.
Only an infantile mind would think such.
Shahahahah you’re adorable little guy ahahahahaha
Okay Mr. High and mighty.
@@beastmaster0934 Also an infantile response. Try being an adult.
469 to 402, "look what you made me do to you!"
He knew it was wrong to drown 402 but being around 477 just felt so pure and honest. No bitching and judgmental backtalk. Just kindness and understanding.

Of course, it would be worse if it were a man and probably start Fing the dead body or sum shit, there's no end to the emotional, environmental, systematic and physical destruction man will cause... but I cannot fathom seeing this behavior in animals, I have never seen anything like it. Please do not follow in the human's footsteps of domestic violence
