Albert Lee aka "Mr. Telecaster", is a British guitarist, who, after moving to the U.S., quickly became an icon in country music. He had a reputation as one of the fastest guitar players in the business.

I first heard Flatt and Scruggs in 1962. They did the theme song for the TV show, The Beverly Hillbillies, which premiered then. Your education continues at the speed of light!
Steve Martin was in the room. He incorporated banjo into his stand up in the 1970s. Paul was also the band leader on SNL for years stsrting in season 1.

I knew Steve Martin played banjo, but I didn't know he could shred like that! And Leon Russell, Alber Lee and so many greats, not to mention Earl Scruggs. Fantastic song to pick Lee!
Hey Lee! Cool choice. I've played a bit of bluegrass myself and always appreciate a chance to hear more. Some awesome musicians were featured here. I have another tangent for you to follow, if interested. I see you wear a cross and I know you like Bob Dylan. Around 1980, Dylan recorded three gospel albums. I'd point you to one specific song from his first album. That would be "When He Returns" from the Slow Train Coming album. I think you will be surprised at how strongly it comes across, even though it's just Dylan singing and a solo piano. The first couple lines of singing are hard to understand but it clears up after that (you might want the lyrics in front of you). BTW, a second song from that album would be "Gotta Serve Somebody". Wishing you all the best.
This was a great performance. I really like the original recording by Scruggs & Flats. First heard it on the movie Bonnie and Clyde, and also on The Beverly Hill Billies tv show. But the original recording by itself is the bomb.
Yes, Steve is well known for his banjo playing. A few short years ago he released an bluegrass inspired album with Edie Brickell on vocals ( with a tongue in cheek nod to the 40s ) called Steve and Edie. She's not only Paul Simon's wife, but had a few hits in the late 80s of her own. And of course Leon is just a legend.
Steve Martin is a legitimate talent playing banjo - you should listen to ANYTHING by him and his Steep Canyon Rangers band. Also, you know about Leon Russell. Paul Shaeffer was the bandleader on all of Letterman's evening shows. And Vince Gill was a well acclaimed Country singer and guitarist; when Glenn Frey passed away, the Eagles asked him to fill in with the band when they toured. Back in the day, Steve Martin had a comedy album called "Let's Get Small" on which he had a bit about Nixon who had resigned in disgrace. Steve said, "I think the banjo could have helped Nixon. He could have got off the plane and said, 'I'd like to talk about politics, but first, a little Foggy Mountain Breakdown'" as he goes into the song. That was in the 70s.🤣
