A brothers love is unconditional. My younger brother sat next to me while I was in coma for 2 months. He continued to work and also took the responsibility of my son his nephew being I was a single father. After coming out of the coma my nurses would tell me stories about my brother never leaving my side. I love him so much. I was also so blessed with a great medical staff. Till this day I still go visit and have lunch with them. It’s been 5 years

Thank you for your sweet comment, Sabrina. We have learned from experience that the family often has a harder time moving on from a catastrophic injury than the one who is injured. I wish I had not insisted Quint continue on with his next semester of college. In hindsight, it was the wrong decision. He should have been able to recover and rehab with Cole and us at The Shepherd Center. We were able to see Cole regain strength and function and we, too, healed along with him. Quint was essentially blind to the progress and his lasting impression of Cole's physical and emotional state was as he left him in the ICU. Traumatic, to say the least.
Seeing him and his brother hug made my eyes water. This is the way brothers are supposed to love each other. I for one would do absolutely anything for my 2 younger brothers. Anything. A brother's love is unlike any other in the world. We're the first best friends that we have and the only lifelong friends that we have. I thank God and my mom and dad every single day for giving me brothers to care for. Not having children and being 26 years old and with my dad being gone due to cancer I had to step up and be a more positive role model for them and it's really made my life better. Knowing that someone is out there watching my every move motivates me to push myself harder every day to make myself better to be a good influence on them. My youngest brother is already 18 going on 19 and it hurts to see them growing but then you realize that no matter how old they are they're still my baby brothers forever. Even when we're all old they'll STILL be my baby brothers no matter how much they hate me calling them that 😂😂 I love those boys more than life itself and I'd gladly die for both of them at the drop of a hat if it came to it.

I couldn’t imagine my brother feeling as you do, and the other brother is gone. Be grateful you have a loving family, because not everybody does. I’m sure my brother would say he loves me, but the bond is not as strong as yours. I’m 68 and never been in a relationship and I know I never will be. Simple things can be so huge.
Cole, is such a strong lad. He knows how to control his emotion. Seeing his family members hugging him and them crying or almost, I could have cried too if I were on his shoes. But he has a goal. He chose to be strong and be positive .. and be on top of his condition. I am just so happy that God made a way for Cole to meet Charisma too. It makes his journey easier and makes him feel special.
Moments like these came fast and furious for years, and still do. It has been an emotional 7 years. Truly life changing. Thanks for coming along with us for the years to come.

I loved seeing them play, too. They used to compete on the same teams in lacrosse and basketball. I know it broke Quint's heart to think they would never (or couldn't ever) compete together, again. The exoskeleton allows for Cole to be upright and initiates a stepping pattern when Cole leans forward (much like a Segway works with gyroscope technology) but, when removed, Cole can't walk on his own. That would be the goal...to get Cole biologically repaired and restored to functional walking, amongst other abilities. Thanks for watching.

Seems crazy, but it's true. The more Quint sees Cole recover and live a joy-filled life, the more Quint feels peace.

Thanks so much, Special Events. Cole may be taller now than he was then. Who knows? Depending on how wide they set his feet during his stance, his height can appear taller or shorter. He calls it the "power stance". They wider his feet are placed away from each other, the shorter he appears. We have never seen him at his full height because he is always set in some sort of "power stance" for additional balance. Thanks for watching. I will be working on a video that shows the very first time he stood (at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta) as part of a Pre-Clinical trial. That was pretty emotional, too. Many of his friends traveled to Atlanta to be present for his first stand/walk attempt.
Mama Kelley I’ve been watching Coles journey for about 3 years. I am a government employee and we have a charitable contribution campaign called the CFC. It is Coles journey that has moved me to donate funds from each paycheck to Sheltering Arms. Because of his journey while taking applications for disability here in Atlanta I have been able to stand proud and say hey maybe ask the social worker before discharge if you can secure a spot with Sheltering Arms. You guys are great to watch and such an inspiration. I have a coworker, and her son got into a horrible car accident and I sent him to Coles journey. KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARW DOING. This is resourceful and amazing.

I just stumbled upon this video. Awesome! We have a cousin who was in a single car accident at 26 weeks pregnant that they didn't think she would survive. She had severe brain injury and so many broken bones and they were going to give up abd try to save the baby. Long story short she survived baby survived and both are thriving! She went through years of (still does through) therapy and a looooobg time in a wheelchair by budget have up and is niw independently walking and back to driving and taking care of her family! She is an absolute inspiration as is your Cole! Thank you for sharing this!!! Prayers for continued progress (and quick progress😊)!!! ❤

Thanks for your sweet comment and for watching, Willa. Quint has come a long way in the healing process. It is often harder for "survivors" to move forward than it is for those who are injured. Seems crazy, but it's true. The more Quint sees Cole recover and live a joy-filled life, the more Quint feels peace.

Not to be selfish, but Cole deserves to be upright, fully independent, and making huge differences in this world (OK, that's a mom's dream for every child...I know HaHa) and I know how badly he wants it. Therefore, I want it even more badly for him. (again, that's the momma in me)

Thanks so much, Special Events. Cole may be taller now than he was then. Who knows? Depending on how wide they set his feet during his stance, his height can appear taller or shorter. He calls it the "power stance". They wider his feet are placed away from each other, the shorter he appears. We have never seen him at his full height because he is always set in some sort of "power stance" for additional balance. Thanks for watching. I will be working on a video that shows the very first time he stood (at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta) as part of a Pre-Clinical trial. That was pretty emotional, too. Many of his friends traveled to Atlanta to be present for his first stand/walk attempt.
Mama Kelley I’ve been watching Coles journey for about 3 years. I am a government employee and we have a charitable contribution campaign called the CFC. It is Coles journey that has moved me to donate funds from each paycheck to Sheltering Arms. Because of his journey while taking applications for disability here in Atlanta I have been able to stand proud and say hey maybe ask the social worker before discharge if you can secure a spot with Sheltering Arms. You guys are great to watch and such an inspiration. I have a coworker, and her son got into a horrible car accident and I sent him to Coles journey. KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARW DOING. This is resourceful and amazing.

I just stumbled upon this video. Awesome! We have a cousin who was in a single car accident at 26 weeks pregnant that they didn't think she would survive. She had severe brain injury and so many broken bones and they were going to give up abd try to save the baby. Long story short she survived baby survived and both are thriving! She went through years of (still does through) therapy and a looooobg time in a wheelchair by budget have up and is niw independently walking and back to driving and taking care of her family! She is an absolute inspiration as is your Cole! Thank you for sharing this!!! Prayers for continued progress (and quick progress😊)!!! ❤
