We went to Hampton University to work with their physical therapy students! We helped teach them wheelchair transfers, sliding board transfers, and bed mobility for a quadriplegic. We found this experience very rewarding and think it is important for therapy students to have hands on experience!

About Roll With Cole & Charisma:
Hey everyone! We’re Cole & Charisma. Since the start of our relationship we've gotten a lot of questions about how we make things work as not only an interracial couple, but an interabled one as well. There are certainly differences, and despite them we have a great time, all the time! On this channel, you’ll find travel vlogs, Q&As, couple challenges, how-to/educational videos and more. We started this channel to bring people into our lives so we can answer some questions about how we navigate the world. We’ll show you behind-the-scenes stuff people typically don't see, and hopefully raise awareness surrounding accessibility and dating in a wheelchair. You'll quickly see in our episodes that we're all about positivity, inclusion, and keeping a great attitude no matter your circumstances, so if that's what you're into, you're in the right place!

I loved going to PT classes so they could get hands on experience.. I am a paraplegic T8 level.I been paralyzed for 25 years.. but in the first 15 years or so I have been doing classes, (now I am to old and the younger ones are doing them lol) . Been to long classes where they had to access me and figure out my level and all, get my rainge ratio and all. see me do floor transfers and the crazy stuff we have to do in order to get in and out of the chair and dressing and so forth.
I hope you get to do this more, as it is so important for the PT students to see first and get to experience it with someone who really is paralyzed.
I enjoyed it and love to teach and show them an easier way of doing things that work for me and that maybe they can use it with their patients. It is so awesome to look back and than see your student as a real PT working at the hospital and they remember you and all.. Cole you will get more chances trust me, you have this positive attitude and willing to show and teach and help others. you are an inspiration to so many.

Cole and Charisma, thank you for offering your time to teach these new P.T. students the actual hands on experience. As a retired Firefighter/EMT, I remember the first time I did CPR vs how we were taught in the classroom environment, it was so much different. The patients arms and legs moving around with no control, the dead weight etc. Hands on skills in a case such as yours is by far the BEST Way for those students to learn. Both of you are certainly filling your life's calling. I'm sure throughout your youtube series, you have no doubt helped thousands of people along the way. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO.

Thank you for this vlog. Due to the fact that I’ve been a caretaker to my mother who was no longer able to walk as her Alzheimer’s progressed, I feel this is something that caretakers can use in general. Many times when family members are caretakers, we don’t know proper ways to transfer and other things that will help our loved ones and ourselves. Thank you again and yes I know that this would be positive for on hand demonstrations, if you will, for students to get on hand knowledge prior to internships.

I'm so glad yall are doing this and I love the message of diversity in the medical field. Quick related story, when I was young I was at a doctors office while my grandmama was getting checked on and I remember noticing all white people (I was born and raised n currently live in ATL, a very diverse city but at the time I was in AR) and being like 8 I mentioned it to a nurse, and she said, "Oh well a lot of our older patients dont react well to non white nurses" and I just remember being speechless because I assumed maybe there just were no poc trying to work there. I wish this mentality was gone. Teach these elderly sick people that they no longer live in the 40s, get them therapy, and I'm 90% sure thats not EVEN THE PROBLEM and if chances were given, it would go great and have a lot of benefits. Its sad that many areas of life are still very.... segregated I guess.

Ensure that you guys include all your speaking events are listed on your CVs. Of course, every salient teaching guest event matters on your CV.
Hey, you guys are headed towards professorships in the future. Charmisa-OTD (C) in 2 years because the entry field is towards the doctorate. Cole-Ph.D in Counseling when you decide to embark upon graduate studies. Your future corporate entity will be great. Ciao!

You don’t need a doctorate for ot they aren’t making it mandatory which is good because to be honest ot could’ve stopped at a bachelors. It’s criminal how much they charge for a degree that makes avg 50-65k sad indeed

How Awesome! I believe by being so open and educating the public you're contributing to the knowledge base of individuals who will work in the therapeutic field and may possibly innovate, improving the lives of those in need of care, and possibly coming up one day with a cure. This is one of many reasons why sharing knowledge is so important. Again good job.

Cole is brave!!! I've also particapated in training nursing/medical students as an actual patient. I'm not going to lie, I was scared! There's a couple places in the protocol that if done wrong can really hurt! It doesn't help that I'm a Urology/renal patient. Students touching and interacting with a man for the first time in a medical setting. Seeing and interacting with a man for the first time ever! (Ask me how I know. Questions asked reveal a lot!) There's no dignity sometimes. But I'm not bugged by needles, hair pulling from tape removal, or other small stuff. How else do they learn?
