Wow, what a fantastic video, I haven't seen this before and was very lucky to come across it here. Exactly how I remember the line at this time, New Romney station still very much a "split level" site in the first section of the film (up to 1974) and then it's later overall roof showing just after 13:01 onwards. I have a lot of fond memories of this railway and miss not being able to get there as I now live in the Highlands of Scotland.
New Romney has since been remodelled and had semaphores replacing the colour lights shown. Nice to see inside the box and its lever frame with foot releasable locks. A nice slow shot of the box diagram enables you to get a good clear look at the track layout then and compare it with now. A very enjoyable film (music very much of its time and not that pleasing for me, I would rather hear the natural sounds of the locos and the wheels along the rails- music is not required although no doubt used to enable easier editing of the soundtrack) that should hopefully inspire people to find out more about this fascinating line and its history. Maybe a visit in the future will be allowed- once you have been there and ridden on the trains 6 inches from the ballast at 30mph or as another Steam hauled service passes in the opposite direction and speed, you will be hooked.
This film starts out with also the coloured lights in Hythe, which were in operation from the sixties through till 1977, which was the year I believe they were re-replaced by the semaphores, only this time they were mounted on just one gantry-where the lights were!

It's a great place to sit on the beach, stare into the distance, smoke a joint and contemplate the meaning of existence and / or how fast you can run on shingle if the power-station alarm sounds. Spoiler: The answers are "42" and "probably not fast enough" respectively. The old lighthouse is fun too.

I went on it a few weeks ago. First time in 40 years. Bought back a lot of memories of our family holidays in Dymchurch.
The background music is quite amazing
