i am so happy you guys uploaded all of the episodes the same day and didnt make us wait a week for each episode. It doesnt change the views at all bc it makes people want to watch them more and they wont forget about it
Oh man guys, I totally live for this kind of thing, the thrill of the chase, the fun of the tear down, the research, the BIG wish list.........oh wait your tiny budgets. Get a billet gas cap and call it good:) Seriously though, this is the funnest video I have watched in a long time, great vids and content. Come on part THREE!
Me too!!!! I haven’t been able to be on my phone much been quite busy so TH-cam was on pause but I love this series of videos!! Binge watching them all tonight haha
That’s not a 1981 XR500. Honda introduced its first mono shock XR in ‘81. You have a 1979 XR500 with twin shocks. The giveaway is the exhaust. The ‘79 and ‘80 XR500’s were almost identical except for the exhaust and a couple other minor touches.
Enduro 175: A mess so far. TTR 230: He makes me laugh. That bike won't climb squat. YZ125: So far a fuel line and an air cleaner. What a bike! CR450F: Serious bike, but he's in it pretty deep! XR500: Will likely end up very cool!
Was listening to dirt bike channel podcast and Justin from Rocky Mountain briefly mentioned this TH-cam series. I can’t believe how well done this is! It’s like the dirt bike version of the Top Gear specials like the Bolivia one or the Africa special. So awesome
Great series so far. As someone who is only capable of basic maintenance, it's pretty cool to see these bikes being taken apart, and jimmied back together. The guys' attitudes make this fun to watch as well.
Man! The out-of-door ability was on point! The YZ125 was just enough to get through 5MOH but just crappy enough to make everything a challenge! Good times were had! Congrats on owning some awesome bikes! - Wes
These guys are professionals... they dont need to be told to change indicator fluid, It will already be done. They might even put a air freshener on the bike 👍
@@TriptoCo yeah deffinatly.. when I go riding I always make sure I have atleast 2 jerry cans of diesel in my back all pre mixed ready for use incase I run out 👍
Do not split the case on the DT. That crank will not stop the dt. You might find that the crank bearing bosses have been worn too large for the bearing and that's where your play is. Run errrr
This is awesome, props to RM for supporting their employees doing this kinda stuff. That's enough for me to make me want to support them even more than usual. Ride on!!!
$500 buck bikes? Where do you find these 4 leaf clovers? $2500 minimum around my parts. Those are perfect condition, never raced, only needs carburetor cleaned.
Rob Wright well it kinda depends the yz125 is really easy to ride and really close to the ground so it’s easy to ride it in trails but I don’t take it anywhere. The crf450 has tons of power and can land jumps no problem so it’s great for the track and dunes. The 500 I just kinda mess around on mainly just ride it around the house. If I had to choose one I’d take the yz125 just because of the nostalgia and how nice it is for being 40 years old.
$500 bikes dont exist near me. Everyone wants crazy money for bikes that are beat to hell. And who the heck did that guy know to get a crf450 for $150? He robbed someone or someone he knew basically gave him this bike for the challenge. Of course this bike has the most potential for the highest rebuild cost if the motor is bad. Cool challenge though, I'm hoping to find a cheap trail bike before winter is over.
Well, Jordan, you may not believe me, but I had never met the guy before! I honestly thought the bike was stolen when he sold it for so cheap but we ran the VIN and she was clean! I got very lucky because there is no way I could've replaced the bottom end if I had paid more for the bike. I've got the bill of sale to prove it! - Chase
@@rmatvmc So what was the reason it was only $150? Price still makes absolutely no sense haha. I mean condition wise doesnt look amazing but still that price is wild. Person surely had to know it should have sold for at least 4 times that easily. Did you happen to mention it was for this video series and maybe he wanted to give you a sweet deal? I gotta go to where you are and find some deals lol. Also did you vin check the local police or environmental police? Vin check sites atent accurate. Had a bike stolen from me recently and even after reporting my vin, vin check sites still showed it was clean. Not saying yours could have been stolen but ya never know.
@@berube361 I did tell him I could only spend 500$ when I first got there because of the challenge, but after I started it and heard how bad it sounded, I knew it had to be worse than just a piston. He asked me how much it would cost for some to completely rebuild the motor and fix everything else on it (fork and shock seals, spokes, handlebars, tires, tubes, etc.) I told him that it would probably cost the average person around 3K or more if they were to buy all the parts and then have a shop do the labor. When I told him that, he realized the bike was going to be harder to sell than he thought. He was asking $1,000 originally. I could tell he really wanted to the bike gone so he didn't have to deal with it anymore AND he didn't have the title with him (this is why we ran the VIN) so he was basically willing to take whatever I offered at that point. I got lucky and I'm sure I would never find a deal that good in a million years!
Exactly the type of video I was thinking when I did my 1990 YZ250 rebuild series... But you guys did it right not my mickey mouse video editing skilz lol
@Some 1poisoned the water hole yea man same boat lolol. I putput around on my old 1997 XR400R love that bike... I did front fork conversion handles like a dream...

Should always get your bearings threw the code's on the side of them then itll cost nothing for a full engine bearing rebuild & seals itll cost next too nothing that way
Followed this from the bike bogging out when hitting the throttle now my throttle is stuck open ..... on the good note it sounds better just gta fix the sticky
"I'm on a modern bike with modern suspension!" LMAO! Heard that a lot from guys on their KTMs before the ride, and a lot of "anyone have any Advil" and "I'm gonna turn in early" at the end of the ride!

Nice too see old bikes still around. Pre-92.
I had one of the DT175's, that thing was all bottom end power, climbed like a mule when traction was there...
RenderedInept I had one as well, the only problem was the rear brakes! As you say, climbs like a mule, damn thing was a mountain goat!
How the hell did he get a 450 for 150$ that’s insane
I got REALLY lucky haha! I couldn't believe he gave it away so cheap. I had to call and make sure it wasn't stolen to to make sure. - Chase

This series is THE BEST!!! ep 3 up next....so great
This series is rad! Well done, fellas.
i live in vernal utah and buy everything from you guys, all i can say is this is the best content i have ever seen on youtube!!!
Now this is going to be epic 🤘🤘can’t wait. Love you store and love your channel!!!!!!
I live in PA and bought a 2004 ttr225 for 900 and it was in amazing condition practically brand new
Im rooting for the YZ125 and the DT175, but that XR500 should be a real contender!
Make sure to change and put in fresh blinker fluid.
