sounds like a great machine. betting a little bit of distortion would make the high resonance and tweaking the cut off would make it scream like a banshee
its a verry cool and authentic clone, but any clone has a specific sweet spot. also the tb3 is a nice one. the ml 303 was the closest clone i ve ever had. and i own at the moment 3 Tb 303 and a lot of clones. so xoxbox also from the xoxshop are very cool. mode machines will also sell some new ones. this xox was from the first batch and i had no quality isues.
nice job man, you've nearly convinced me to get one of these, and i'm an owner of an original tb303!! this sounds great and looks user freiendly too! pay no heed to theeltea, as you said, some people gotta keep the 303 hype alive.....
Of course it is,I understand it's the same as the TR-606 are pretty overpriced because of the same reason. If you're going to make music with it,buy a xOxbOx2 from Mode Machines they are the best clone out ,and they don't ship until they have tweaked everything right & it's 100% German electronics inside.
@DJPeteJames it depends on the firmware version.... all mode machines have the holy sokkos software..you can download it from the net ..or if you dont have the clue to do that...you can also buy this firmware on a separate processor for 10-20 € ...
To each their own. I've bought my 303 for 400$ and restored it to DF status. I can easily sell it for 6 times the price, although I spent about 1000$ on repairs and mods. You see, not everyone needs a "modern version". How you work your machine and how it feels in your hands is also very important for a lot of people. If the 303 angers you so much, check out the prices on Jupiter-8's... And people BUY them. Just coz you can't afford it doesn't mean others can't!
@pomfrit93 hi, this was one of the first machines, but the only difference is the frontplate and the LEDS Button collors. The sound is the same, i have now 3 boxes and i love them, i also have some real TB 303´s , but i love the mode machines , bcause they have some nice features like backward loops etc, a tb 303 can´t do this and for live - gigs is this a cool must have :-)
hey acidjack303 are the kick drum sounds coming form the XoXboX? just curious I'm think of purchasing one. not sure if I need to buy something extra like a volca drums or have ableton rigged up for drums. I love the anolog sound. great vid btw
Thanks for the comment !!!, yes its sounds not 100% like aTB thats true. The only Box witch sounds 100% like A TB 303 is a RE 303 but this is a replica and not a clone. I have 3 Tb 303 from dif. Production ranges, they sounds all diferent :-)
in existence. I'll be keeping it just for sheer fun of programming the vintage machine... I am sure your machine also has a unique sound and I am sure you will also want to keep it even if you "retire from the farm"... People tend to keep the unique handmade stuff as they are works of art and not mere tools. Read my post again, I never said the DF was better. :) Btw, get some videos of your circuit-bent x0x online!
@gomanu97 Not really, these machines are really well built and have great sound! The subtle differences are something almost everyone can live with happily!
@@XHALE303 yeah, I saw. I am definitely going to get one of those. Also, I am pumped that it comes in red. I have had bad experiences with behringer in the past, but it seems like they are really killing it lately and I am willing to give their gear another shot. Also, the 303 was a cheap plastic mono synth, it is not like they are trying to replicate something super complex. It is only expensive because it is rare (because everyone at the time thought it was a piece of junk and it flopped). I am sure the behringer version will be just fine.
my x0xi0 box sounds pretty close to my real 303. Lot cheaper then a devilfish, and only the devilfish part is emulated. the 303 is simply synced. if I calm down on the effects of the x0xi0 it's practically a 303 with a bit more advanced programming possibility.
@rvooh i know that, but a 303 can´t do that , and that´s what i mean. i like this features from the sokkos firmware. so it´s nothing what mode machines invent . sorry for my bad spelling, im no native english speaker , so sorry for the confusion!!!
@acidjack303 Oh but I know, you're the unofficial hero of 303's on youtube. Still, if anyone, but you know that the x0x has subtle but noticeable differences from the original. I am not saying it's worse, but in head-to-head comparison, they can be noticed.
@acidjack303 I owned 2 303s back in 93, they even sounded different to each other. I currently own 2 x 101s and they sound different also. To say they all must sound identical is something you can only apply to a digital synth like say a Nord Lead. Analogues are different by 5 to 10% anyhow. Don't believe me, come see my 2 101s Also, how the hell can you tell what sound like what over youtube FFS with half the frequencies removed and whats left seriously compressed???
I just got mine yesterday, the xoxbox is better. It has midi, a usb slot twice the storage space. According to sound on sound it has 99% of the original guts as the original. The only thing different is the fact that people will never be 100% happy with a clone. The xoxbox is everything the 303 was with a ton of modern updates. Go ahead and spend $2000 on the original thing that is 30 years old or spend $450 on a brand new mordern version. Get the 303 and you deserve to pay the $1500 idiot tax.
@theeltea i own also 4 real TB 303 . and a tb is a tb and a xox is a xox. a clone. so no comend on it. but the xox sounds very 303ish !!! thats the fact !!
it's weird because a xoxbox is not a clone. it's a 303. same circuits and components.....not reproduced...the same !!! but i still find the 303 has something sweeter sounding..less raw...more bubbly...expecially to do with the accent/glide.
Well, I believe I've made it as clear as I could possibly make. It's in the "character" of the sound. Yeah, it does the glide, it does the accents, it does the sequencing, it does the 18db filter. But the overall sound is VERY DIFFERENT, although to the layman's ears it will sound ALMOST THE SAME as it definately has the same character...
Not really, I've tested both and the sound is really somewhat different. It has a very similar character, it really does, but the "waw-waw" you get by accenting and ENV AMT knob is something which is a bit different from the original 303. BUT! x0xbox' features so much great stuff that I'd definately go with it rather than the 303.
Well then you should listen to my modified xOxbOx2 named SHARKS. Sounds way ABOVE and BETTER than the old devilfish. My friend has a devilfish,by all means it's cool ,but not as extremely much better as you claim, but of course you claim it's better since you own one and bla, bla, bla. It's important to keep the 303 'Hype' alive,so you can get a decent price when you retire from the farm eventually :)
Well, my experience with Technology transpalant a.k.a. Mode machines was horrible. These are the same units, badly assembled and imported from China with "made in Germany" sticker, sold for 500 EUR. I got first which had non working accent, they "fixed" it by damaging sequencer. After million of e-mails, they sent me another, again, half working. Run button doesn't work, cv triggers not calibrated etc, sometimes resets in the middle of play, etc... I have 500EUR of reasons to say that they suck.
Yeah, I know, the thing here is that even a subtle difference in such a delicate matter makes it "nothing like". I know it sounds somewhat idiotic, but in a world of purism and analog craziness, that's just how it is. It's either "THE REAL THING", or "COOL IN ITSELF, BUT NOT QUITE THE SAME".
Retire from the farm? Do you really believe I give a shit about money and try to keep the "hype" alive? Come on! :) I've re-built my 303 in 2002, dude and I still own it. It's called "appreciation for art" and not HYPE. Would you rather drive a GT old-timer or a Nissan GTR? I do drive the former. :) Just because I fancy it, not because it's better. It's actually worse that almost any modern car. I've sold most of my synths these days. The 303 I am keeping as there are less than 30 alucased DF's
And by the way, you can stuff your MIDI up, *cough*, well, you know, my friend. The 303 is about step-programming and not fuckin' MIDI. I'd get a Syntecno TeeBee or some other vintage shitbox if I wanted MIDI. USB slot? Oh wow, my 303 has 32 banks of memory. I'd like to see you program that many patterns into it... Who needs storage space in a unit such as this. It's about hands-on control. According to SoS? Damn, that was deep... :)
After picking up one of these today, I've realised how crap the knobs on the OG TB303 are for proper tweaking.
yes damn the good shit.. build a xoxbox from the diy kit in 2014, love that machine man
no no the drums are all from a original tr 808. i recomend a volca beats. i think this is a great combo :-) br cit

@riaiaikido1 thanks...you are right it is a real 808 . the xox is quite near a real tb 303

fine one note acid. with wich maschine do you the beats and other?

@kiqyoazz ...yes you can do that by pressing the Pitch button and the up or down and a note key. quite easy :-)

I REALLY want one of these.
Well now u can, Behringer released their TD3 2days ago.

Is it purely analogue or does it require any MIDI?
What drum machine are you using? I love the old gong/bells.

This is great, what is the difference with the MK2 version ?
2:41 I want to press that button so bad lol.
i am going to buy Xoxbox mk1 one tommorow.
Is it a big difference between mk1 and 2 ??
Thank you
this first generetion of x0xb0x? not mk2 or mk3?
We're all really impressed.
@kiqyoazz hi, yes you can..but only the same sequence via midi and cv gate at the same time :-)
great demo!!
is there another way to delete patterns without having to use rest for every step?
Very nice Cit...
What you been up to?
This is a Technology Transplant build right?

groovy soundz man :) (any idia how i can fix my resonace nobe it has a loose conneciton or somthing)
where can i buy the xoxbox anyone have a link?
