- 3rd and last game of the John White vs Ali Farag squash match during the qualifying rounds of the 2015 Delaware Investments U.S. Open Squash Championships at Drexel University. I only recorded the 3rd game.

Watching this video intensified my desire to play squash again tenfold... Can't wait until the doors open again.

For someone who is a (relatively) old player and long retired from the circuit, John White put up a great show against the outrageously talented Ali Farag -- and credit to Ali, he didn't let John's (good natured) gamesmanship interfere with his game. Very entertaining Squash!

John "the Great" White is legend. I met him in Atlanta, Georgia many years ago and had him sign a magazine. Kind, respectful, wonderful person. He did a demo at the tournament...hit a squash ball that was still in a box, and it hit all corners of the court without touching the ground. It happened in seconds. I think his record time was 150mph? (Correct me if I'm wrong.) Absolutely astonishing the power of this man. Squash is such a great game. I wish I lived on the East Coast where it is respected and accessible. Our only squash court here was turned into a wine tasting room. Can't say I mind that either, but I'd rather play squash.
Ali Farag has been a class act from the word go.

Johnny is right about that beginning "stroke". You still have to be ready to play the ball.. If the ref was any good he would've called a let or no let.

+Sportel Exactly, John White is the coach of the varsity squash team at Drexel University (Philadelphia). The US Squash Open was hosted at Drexel, and John white decided to participate. So, this was a qualifying match. White played (and won) the first qualifying match against Adrian Grant (a titanic effort!), and then lost the second qualifying match against Ali Farag.
How did John White ever qualify for the US Open when he plays like this. He may have been good in his day but is embarrassing to watch him play now.

He relied on power over accuracy during his career so his style of squash doesn’t suit him now that he’s older and a bit less physical. His conduct during the match was more embarrassing imo
for a 42 year old he plays fine. Are there some over 40 year olds that play better, any?
