That net is really a trick problem. The same reason Tiafoe won the point against Raonic is the reason the net cord wasn't counted in Cuevas vs Garin - when playing singles, the portion of the net beyond the singles posts isn't counted for singles (though it would be for doubles). With a bit more awareness of this players might begin to see this and accept it, or even find opportunities to exploit it.

Yes, but not at the very top level. You never see pushers that only try to put neutral balls in play breaking in the TOP 10, hitting a ball in the middle of the court results in a winning shot for the opponent at the top of the ranking. The exception that proves the rule is Gilles Simon (yet i wouldn't call him a true 'pusher', he was great at finding short angles and always made it very complicated tactically for his opponents, not to mention he even said himself that he needed to be way more aggressive when he was playing Federer or Nadal).

Not seen him do it like in this video for some years now though, so guess we’ll never truly know.

I thought it was a very old clip, when security wasn't as tight as it is these days, (pre-Monica-Seles-incident), also because the video quality is quite low. But it actually was a qualifying match for the Rotterdam ATP tournament. Guess they don't have military style security at quallies.

Looks like the refs can't decide if the doubles net counts during singles or not. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
