This video is for people who are actually interested in making a custom figure. If you don't want to cut the figure apart that is perfectly fine and you don't have to like this video.
They need to make more godzilla figures that are articulated and dont cost a arm and a leg, this is the exact reason i switched fandoms, however i do still have a soft spot
Tip: also have some white clay in the middle where the ball joint is to cover up it and get some paint and paint it over the clay with the cover of the skin of the figure cut a tiny little line like a circle over the painted clay like s h monster arts figures repeate it for all body limbs so it doesn't look like every part that the ball joint is look like it's just stretched limbs this is for the people that want it to more look like a hiya toys or sh monsterarts or neca figure
Honestly, I think ruining a figure like that is silly, but looking at it from the other side, it's a good way to make an articulated figure if you don't have enough money for a Sh Monsterarts. Good tutorial dude.
To make the ball joints less obvious, would it be better to cover them up with thin clay and making them deeper? While yes this would limit the ball joints articulation a bit, this would all around benefit the look of the figure, right?
extremely useful vid! i was looking on TH-cam seeing anyone had a tutorial to make kaiju figures have more articulation because i was customize a Godzilla minus one figure. I don't care if how many likes this video has make it viral!!
the problem is that the joints are pretty far out, so when you connect them there are these awkward gaps in between the joints, this can be easily fixed be putting some kind of cloth to cover it up though.
I reccomend you to use epoxy clay it will work better and it doesn't require any glue but it may be heavy when it dries so i reccomend to use just enough for the joint to stick on the clay!
Finally found a helpful video!! I’ve been searching for hours cause I really want to articulate my Bandai Anguirus but having trouble what parts to cut and stuff
I did this with a shin godzilla Bandai figure i had and didn’t have the clay but it came out good I used hot glue but I like it thanks for sharing on how to do this very helpful!
lol I bought those same joints for a different project. Didn't work out. Might have to try this. Last year I was planning on adding articulation to mine, and giving him actual spinning blades. Heh.. Dunno If I'll still do that, probably not. If I do this I'm definitely gonna try filling the gaps.
This video should be renamed into “How to destroy your Bandai movie monster figures and turning them into a hybrid monster”. I wonder had anyone used this tutorial? No one’s gonna talk about how this dude risk like $50 USD dollars to make this custom figure. I am subbing.
I did I pushed the joins ALOT further in though,as to not have them exposed Also used Air dry clay because reasons I did it on a relatively small figure as to not completely ruin my larger ones, however my results where actually really good I really like how it turned out Also I'm a sucker for small but detailed/posable stuff so the fact I did it to a tiny figure was a better
Be very persice with the glue. You don't want it going on your fingers. And also don't spend to much money on this type of stuff. I've spent over 3000 dollars probably on just godzilla stuff😭
@@Atomic_Mellow_Official thank you for the tip it was helpful and I have a question do you think of buying the hiya toys Godzilla 2019 ver anytime soon?
This is great because I want to make a custom Bandai movie monster series custom anguirus, but what would you use to cut of the parts that you would put joints in???
Okay, solid idea but it needs some work. The putty needs sanding and painting, the joints also need insetting more cus at the moment our cyborg chicken looks a bit like a giraffe. It's not idea but sometimes when making customs, you do have to sacrifice some articulation for aesthetics. Unless you really want to get in deep with the customizations.
I really like the idea, it’s just… to get all the stuff and pay for all of it is pretty expensive. Not to be mean to your creation, but I found that making it out of some clay and wire didn’t cost as much. A good starting point for people who want these fast though
Now i could make cheap action figure without buy it for a overprice :> TY FOR THE TOTURIAL, I WILL MAKE ULTIMA, DESTOROYAH, SKULL CRAWLER, and maybe minus one? To be this cool cheap budget!
Just push the ball joints deeper with less clay inside the limbs. I made a figure like this about 2 years ago and it hasn't fallen apart or became dirty. Just make sure you dust it off once in a while
I think ima try doing this to a small kiryu vinyl i have Its soft and already has decent articulation, however i feel i could add to it It only has: swivel at head, swivel at both arms, waste swivel.and tail swivel No legs Ima try giving it elbow, knee, top of leg,and maybe a ball joint at the middle of the tail Perhaps a hinge at the jaw via chopping it off, adding a bit of clay inside, then feeding a wire through to mimic a hinge Thanks for the tutorial dude :D
Yeah,it's quite easy, atleast to me For smaller figures, just take the bottom jaw off, stick some blue tack to the roof of the mouth, and pit the jaw back in place, that should be good enough For larger ones, take the bottom jaw off, poke two holes on either side of it,then attach some clay to the roof of the mouth. After that, run a thin stick through it,like a plastic rod or wire. Then simply maneuver the jaw onto the stick and ur done

Can you like paint the clay to make it better
I am only doing it for the mecha Kaijus only and some of duplicates I might get.
@danarkh makes it hints that good so he’s going to make something that’s probably good then ones before
Mlcan you use hot glue?
THANKS BRO IM GONNA MAKE MY BOOTLEG LOOK LIKE A GODZILLA FROM NECA
Not a foolproof idea but a good starting point for anyone wanting to customize a figure for more articulation
Pretty much this.

Yeah just push the ball joints down deeper.
@@Atomic_Mellow_Officialthat would just give it less articulation
Sometimes I would like to put the ball socket deeper in so it could look more natural than exposed sockets, not the ball joint, but the ball socket
I wanna see an articulation video on that figure, it looks GREAT
I want to do this but I will probably use actual model kit ball joints because I don’t want the large gaps, thanks so much!
Idk though, cuz the Lego ones are stronger and model kit joints break when I used em
Yup
Yep nevermind, i tried this with my kiryu and it completely failed and it’s all cut up now :/
what kiryu did u use
I did it with a kiryu and it worked very well (even though it gave em some weird legs)
This helps me out SO much! Now I don't have to look for overpriced shma figures anymore, instead I can just make my own figures! 😁

A way to make it better is to add clay around the joints to hide them

While lego joints work, I recommend handling them with care as they can break easily
It looks like mecha gigan,I love it
gigan is already a robot

He looks more mechanical now witch is so cool
definitely gonna use this on those ripoff godzilla amphibia and terretris figures
Now I know how to articulate figures that can’t articulate
2:29 well looks like I'm going to wear some nice boots
I want gigan boots now.
Can I ask what you used to get such clean cuts in the figures parts?
I own 2 shma the 2004 and 1989 and in the articulation department i approve of this also gonna try with the burning Godzilla bandai vinyl
Now I don’t have to spend $500 for some Sh monsterarts figure. Thank you for saving my wallet
I’m trying to do a custom shinomura sculpted by myself but it’s very hard
Try to use a 3d printer
They are bloody expense, however....
I recommend putting the joints deeper so it will hide more of the joint
This might actually help me make a custom E 102 gamma thx for the vid, I appreciate it!

Filling the gaps help a lot with the outcome. It helps the ball joint stay in place so when you try to connect it, it will not move

@@Atomic_Mellow_Official ok thanks 👍
Also you should make a tutorial on how to make the buildings
Thanks, but I think The limbs are too far apart, I suggest Pressing the ball joint in the clay deeper
They are nice but the only problem is the gaps they leave, you can make something there if you want to tho
Anyway you can cover the neck? (BODY HORROR)
if your a lego fan like me the ball joints he used were the lego ball joint
No,they weren't,they are knock offs, and can break easier
Lego mixed joints never came in black, ever
They were always shades of grey.
This is why I used official lego ball joints for my custom.
@@Trollboi_farded69420 true but lego only has copyright to the name not the bricks so they can’t be called ripoffs

I think one more thing you could do is put ruber where you can see the joints just to make it look a bit more realistic but nice job either way
NICE but do I fill the hole body or not? And THANK YOU FOR TUTORIAL!
