I know you got it all figured out already but for anyone who’s going to attempt this on a C20/ 3/4 ton frame. Yes those mounts are lower on a C20 frame. The body mounts are also different. You could move the mounts up and use c10 body mounts or leave them and make sure to get C20 mounts. When I did mine brothers was just coming out with this kit and they literally told me it won’t work on a C20. Later I saw they said it would with modifications. Your video now serves as instructions for those who want to do a C20 with the required mods. Change the title bud, it didn’t go wrong. It’s now a how to shorten a C20 frame with brothers C10 frame shortening kit. 👍
I am 70 yrs. old and I installed and shortened my 72 c-10 by myself and it worked perfectly with the exception of one bolt hole tha t was different on my truck but my friends was perfect with all holes in place. Brothers kit is really good but all c-10 trucks are not equal.
Thank you for posting this. I just got the same brothers kit for my C-20. I will also be going from leaf springs to coils, so knowing about the cab mounts will be one less surprise I will be running into.
I felt the fear on this side when I thought the frame was not going to go back together with the kit! Glad you were able to correct their error and get it back together.
We did one we didn’t have any issues we followed their directions a TH-cam one and everything went smooth. It’s been a while, but I remember having to drill a couple holes with the template they’re marked in those holes. You just drill them before you pull the template off.
Thanks for posting this video it help out many that may be thinking or having this problem. Remember all truck frames may not be the same the holes can be a little off. Glade it didn't turn into a nightmare!
Nice vid bro, this is why i prefer the not cutting frame in half method, also Brothers is no longer the company they use to be, Holley bought them out and raised all the prices way up. So they went from the place to go to…. To i only buy from them as a last resort.
did you send cab off to media blast? I have a vid/short on my channel of one im doing not... I had it blasted, made all the diff. I also trimmed drip rails to make it more sleek.... oh and Ls transplant as well... I mean why not....lol
I’d like to but I’ll prob just clean it up my self. I was gonna go the LS route until I scored a 7.4 Vortec for cheap. I’ll go and check your channel out now
I’m super excited to use Brother’s products, but sadly have not had success getting a catalog mailed to me. I’ve received a flyer of sorts, but no catalog.
I have/had a 68 C10 short bed ! Our son ( our youngest ) has a 66 C10 longbed, MS kicking my ass 22 years I give that Truck to him ! Wants to leaves the 66 long bed now ! Oookkk ! 👍
Around 2018 when i was buying my '63 C10, i came across a "good deal" on a '63 C20. I called brothers, and they told me the shortening kit didnt work on the 3/4t, but I see your template has "3/4t" marked on the side. I just kept looking until i found the truck i wanted
I've found most of there bolt on kits always need some fabricating. And research ahead of time. Looks like he way over thought this, when all that was needed was to drill a couple holes.
When they advertise a kit as bolt in that is what it should be. They sell this as a no brained kit for the average Joe to install. I simply want folks to know about my experience with the kit and quality. For $500 shit better be right
@@SunnySlopeHomestead I’m not good enough to do the cut and weld on the bedsides but I’m good with everything else. So I’ll probably do what the other guy recommended
@@SunnySlopeHomestead thanks. Trying to buy it but they say they're out of stock. Tried PB Fab too but theirs I would have to take the leaf spring hanger off first 👎
I’ve read in the forums some people Having issues with them and I’ve read a lot of good reviews that say they work Perfect. Now I’m conflicted again I might order the one from Metalox Fab. Thanks for the video.
c20 is not c10 different frames its not their fault its yours or mainly just not theirs c10 c20 and c30 frames are different people think thet are all the same but they are all different height c channel and thickness
Well this is what happens when you don't read. A C10 and a C20 have many differences and parts for one won't necessarily fit on the other. Lol you really didn't need to go on for half an hour crying. Just drill new holes lol you do know you can weld up a hole if you need to drill one to close to another hole. And you didn't even see the 3/4 took Mark lol man you need to do more research and this is on you not brothers because they state this kit is for a long bed C10 not a long bed C20 and yes they are different lol I'll say again this was on you not brothers.
Frame section is the same on both 10 and 20 C series. You failed to realize that the channels were both of the same side. You need to follow along better but thanks for trying

Thanks that’s what I was considering because I have a 3/4.
Big deal just drill new holes.

It's because it's a 3/4 ton frame and the rear cab mounts are different. Taller on a 3/4 than a 1/2 ton
Thank you for posting this. I just got the same brothers kit for my C-20. I will also be going from leaf springs to coils, so knowing about the cab mounts will be one less surprise I will be running into.

Thank you Debbie 😊

I agree with you too! I will only buy Holley as a last resort.
This is why the auto parts store needs to know if you have if you have an automatic or manual when ordering wiper blades
Woo hoo back to the 71! You'll get er done!🙂
Hey guy good to see ya! Hey fam! Just popped in to say hi -much love from NJ ~Mary & fam
Me too me too 😳😆😆
I believe there are to different C20 versions the kit works on it if your C20 is under 8000 GVWR

Body mount holes should line up
Do you know where I can find a shortening kit for my 1985 c20 3/4 ton pick up?
Did you use the kit on the wrong side ? If you take the one that says 3/4 over to your right side it should be right ,
I owned a few .. some of them are different
What are the dimensions of your garage?

I am keeping my longbed...low, long and sleek!
Good choice!
Where can I get this kit??

Your template back wholes only have two wholes

Just did the kit yesterday on a 70 C10. Luckily for me everything went perfect. Now I just have to find a shortbed. That’s the real challenge.
Just order the side panels and keep your tailgate and back part. Then do a wood bed or whatever you want.
I just picked up a long bed with the wood panels for $450 , plan to cut and section it. Want keep it all GM metal much as possible
@@reb8306 makes sense. Thanks for the tip. Got a rec for a good place to order the bedsides from that’s somewhat close to oem?
@@SunnySlopeHomestead I’m not good enough to do the cut and weld on the bedsides but I’m good with everything else. So I’ll probably do what the other guy recommended
@@SunnySlopeHomestead the after market metal is not the same as factory they are very thin pressed out metal.
Glad you got! Will a short bed use the same mounting holes as the long bed did?
Sure will , least that what the instructions said 🙌
It's because it's a C20 frame they are different. C20 have different cab mounts then a C10
Do you have to remove front hanger for leaf spring?
Nope
Just the back cab mounts are relocated and two of the four hole are already there
@@SunnySlopeHomestead thanks. Trying to buy it but they say they're out of stock. Tried PB Fab too but theirs I would have to take the leaf spring hanger off first 👎
4 wheel drive frames are a little different was it a 4x4?
2 wheel frame 3/4 ton so that tossed a wrench in the set I bet
I’ve read in the forums some people

Perfect. Now I’m conflicted again I might order the one from Metalox Fab. Thanks for the video.
The difference is the kit is made for a C10, not C20.
Same frame bud just different body mounts and extra metal in the back half 😉
I did my 84 and it worked out just fine. Something is f_
Yeah not sure but I made it work that’s for sure lol
The kit is designed for C10. Not C20...
Same frame just thicker in the back bud
I was pretty darn confident that you had this . Not your first rodeo. 👍💕🇺🇸
I was a little worried at first but I knew I could weld it back up lol
What’s up!
What’s up bro 😎
I guess you didn't take into account that your truck frame is a 1 ton and ur kit is a 1/2-3/4 frame they are different
Where are your safety glasses
I sure was lol when Eye squints aren’t enough
Their instructions looks little the frame was upside down
The surgeon at work. If anyone could do it, it was you !
The doctor is in lol 😂
Its different c20 the frame is slightly different bud 🤣🤣🤣
Not by much though
not fair for you to blame them for something you overlooked lol
C10 vs C20 vs K10
If anyone could do it, it was you !
Thank you Terri 😁🙌
c20 is not c10 different frames its not their fault its yours or mainly just not theirs c10 c20 and c30 frames are different people think thet are all the same but they are all different height c channel and thickness
Bought C10 kit wondering why it dosent fit a C20...... 🤡🤡🤡
Same frame and you must have missed the markings that show drill points for c10 and c20

You shouldn't be cutting your frame with your mental impairment.
Hahaha I can’t even be mad , that’s funny 😆 I’m stealing that one ☝️
Stop crying about it and pay attention
The mistake was done at 4:33
I’ll check that out
A lot of complaining for 1 hole being off, could have fixed it already. If you couldn't figure out 1 hole this project is too hard for you.
