- April 15, 2016 by BOB BOILEN • Seratones singer-guitarist A.J. Hines takes gospel into the garage, and what comes out is fiery rock 'n' roll. The Shreveport, La., band is a joy to see and hear, and this Tiny Desk concert provides a fiery peek at what you'll soon hear on the group's debut album, Get Gone.
Hines grew up singing in the Brownsville Baptist Church, learning to sing out to and hit that back wall without a microphone. At the same time, bassist Adam Davis heard a lot of American rock's greatest guitarist, Jimi Hendrix, as well as the amazing voice of Janis Joplin. The rest of the band is rounded out by the drumming of Jesse Gabriel, who is spare but there with a sharp backbeat, while guitarist Connor Davis rocks with lyrical grit. Seratones won my heart when the group opened for Alabama's St. Paul and the Broken Bones back in December; now, it's getting ready to release Get Gone, due out May 6.

Recently saw Seratones live and have been wishing for them to get their break! They bring the energy and are great to see if you ever have the chance!
I got to see them live in Cleveland! They hung around after putting on one of the most electric shows I've ever seen and I had an oddly deep conversation with the blonde guy about working in the food service industry and A.J. gave me a hug. Best, most pure band.
Seratones are my favorite music discovery in 2016!

The Seratones are from my hometown and there was a block party downtown last night featuring them and a few other bands. They are really good when live and I got to meet the lead singer. She was SO NICE!!

Best band ever in 2016. Saw them opening up a Dandy Warhols' gig in Montreal earlier this year and I felt in love at first sight.

I just saw A. J. Haynes (not Hines) on an episode of TrueSouth on ESPN. The show ended with Haynes performing a solo acoustic version of "Get Gone", and it immediately blew me away. Her vocals are phenomenal. She's a diamond hiding in Shreveport, Louisiana.

This is what I come to tiny desk for.
Tiny Desk seems to be the stamp of cool these days. Three of my favourite modern acts I discovered on this. I'm going to get on here one day, you know, once I'm past the small problems of moving to America and starting a band up.
Also, that drummer is right in the pocket. Absolutely superb.
Got to see them live at the Shakori Hills Festival of Music and Dance at the beginning of Rocktober and they were the highlight of the weekend for us
