    I have had dogs all of my life and I didn't know dogs could get the viral papiloma. (Mind didn't get it). You didn't think it was necessary to burn it off with liquid nitrogen. (Cute little dog). The patient was very nervous.

    • @HelpfulVancouverVet
      @HelpfulVancouverVet  5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      There are a number of treatment options for viral papilloma. Waiting for them to go away is often reasonable if they are in a location and numbers that don't bother the dog. Local control (with nitrogen or surgical excision) is sometimes warranted, and there are systemic treatment option as well, but they are rarely needed in our part of the world at least.

First time i got some was a massive wave and i'm still traumatized of the podiatrist who treated me back then even though even then i fully knew it was unavoidable (i mean, 30ish warts per foot...)
    Why do i say all this ? I was wondering if some massive wart waves like that happened to one of our friends ?

    Dr. Yuri, I have a question related to my cat and her tail and was hoping you could help advise me on what to do... I took her to the vet immediately when I noticed the kink in her tail (where is attaches to the body). They just used a high level laser to help rehabilitate it. They suspected no real damage. When I look at it closely and feel it, I can tell that her tail vertebrae are twisted and misaligned causing it to be swollen and hard for her to move. It doesn't appear to be causing her much pain but I want it fixed. Is this something that a typical vet can fix? Do I need to spend top dollar on a specialist? I am willing to spend a fe buck as long as she can be fixed and healthy. Can you help please? Thank you SOOO much!

    • @HelpfulVancouverVet
      @HelpfulVancouverVet  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alex, the answer to your question depends on whether your cat has had that kink her whole life and you just noticed it one day, or whether the kink is the result of trauma. Either way, laser is a bogus fraud pseudo-science rip off. If it is congenital, don't worry about it. It is not all that rare a deformity and usually not clinically significant. If it is traumatic, you need to go see a real vet, one who will xray, diagnose and treat, not shine a flashlight at it and charge you for that. Tail trauma is often best treated with amputation, which is a simple and well tolerated procedure executable by any competent vet, except when it is really close to the body, when things get more complicated. Hope this helps!
