Anyone want a lyrics video for "J'avais rêvé" (1991 version)? I've been thinking about making one. Also, will add an English translation for Le grand jour if there's any interest.
My French is certainly not as good as it used to be but from what I could get, WOW! I find the song powerful enough in English but it hits differently, particularly that last bit when all the voices are singing over each other. It’s incredible.
Merci... Je ne parle pas francais... But I speak English and I find this really amazing... Thanks also for the translation of the lyrics.. Great regards from Panama!
+Rebekah Bell In fact it's not about the June Rebellion, it's about revolution of the 1832(if I remember correctly). June revolution was before that one.
I think you might be confusing the June Rebellion for the July Revolution? The June Rebellion was in 1832 and the July Revolution was in 1830. Also, Wikipedia mentions that Les Misérables is describing the Rebellion.
les temps de cerries would have been a perfect song to put in les miserables. The song was made in the Paris commune so would fit into the theme of resistance.
Also, it's good that you're trying! I'm a Canadian, so I've been learning French for a LONG time. I've never gotten any good at this language because I never put any work into it. I'm glad you're trying so hard though! Keep at it!
I'm glad to see someone trying that hard to learn how to speak/write French. It's a very complicated language to master but you are doing quite well ! Greatings from a French guy !ps : In France, we say "Désolé pour mon mauvais Français" instead of "mon mal Français" :) there's a small difference but well... you're doing great !
This isn't from the original French album (1980) but the 1991 Paris revival. The original version of this song is "Demain" from the 1980 album. It was then adapted into the English "One Day More" and then that was adapted into this.
I speak both English and French. The English translation is more fluid and clever than the original French. That "One more day, one day more" which can't work in French takes the number to another level. It also works better than the French "the great day".
+Lorna M Actually, with the original song, Demain, it was good for French, but they tried taking the English themes from the other, and in my opinion, it makes it worse, and lowers the quality.
+Lorna M my thing is you need to rewrite a song for each language some tempos and rhythmic structures are good for one and not the other. just an opinion but I find it to be very sinful when I see it. lol
Zack Horne I’ve been listening to the French concept album since I was a kid, my mum had the CD and so to me watching it in English will never quite satisfy. I always dreamed that one day I would see it in French but had no idea until now they retranslated it 😭 - it’s just not the same!
Eponine's voice is sooooooooooo beautiful

Sing all the parts of One Day More at the same time in french: level 100000000
Not for French speaking people I suppose.

Well it's the French revelation so it's good in French because its base in France

Idk why but the french lyrics seems to be translated even though it's the original version
This isn't from the original French album (1980) but the 1991 Paris revival. The original version of this song is "Demain" from the 1980 album. It was then adapted into the English "One Day More" and then that was adapted into this.
