And with good reason. (hah!) The message in the chorus stills resounds with us: "The children and the flowers are my sisters and my brothers. Their laughter and their loveliness would clear a cloudy day." Wow.
Oh my goodness, what a trip down memory lane. Love, love, love John Denver. Of the albums mentioned in this video, my favorite is Whose Garden Was This; however, all his albums are wonderful. I did the assignment and listened to Violets of Dawn, which I'd never heard before. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for taking me back to a time when music was actually music. I look forward to the next video in this series.
Just found this. I’m enjoying your work. I’m an old lady who has become obsessed with John Denver. I thought I had heard them all but you’re showing me some im
I’m hooked! Thank you for doing this. You and I are nearly the same age, as I found when viewing your video on influential books through your life, and we have those similarities plus a love of Inspector Gamache books, plus now an adoration of John Denver’s work! Hello, sister bibliophile, I’m happy to have found your channel. 😊
When are you doing the next one??? I discovered your work today. I am of the same era. The only thing I wanted to be, other than a nurse, was a librarian. I worked in the library in high school and loved it. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
Thanks, Lorna! As you may imagine, each one of these episodes takes some time to research and write up. I expect Part III to come in early January. Probably just for the years 1973-1974. We'll see!
There is also also the album "John Denver Sings" privately released in December 1966. Sadly it wasn't included but the original vinyl records are pretty rare because only 250 copies were made. I found some live recordings of the Mitchell Trio and Denver, Boise and Johnson on TH-cam, and I really enjoy it.
Rhymes and Reasons is still one of his top 5 songs to this day!

@@CorinneHSmith The construction of the song, lyrics and music, are phenomenal. Such care in the words to convey the deep meanings.
