It’s insane to think Eddie was kicking GOTY in 2006 and is still one of AFL’s most exciting players, truly an immortal legend. Just goes to show that you can be one of the GOATs and still never get to play in a premiership team.

There have been many great indigenous players over the years and a few that have achieved the highest honor, but their over representatiion in goal and mark of the year says many of them posess freakish skills others can rarely achieve.Go Eddie and still love you wherever you play next year.

I'm from India, there is no broadcasting of this game here, but I have to admit, I'm loving this after watching few highlights and goals. The passion, intensity, fans, electric atmosphere everything is too good to be ignored, this AFL needs more worldwide recognition.
Game used to be fantastic. Be mindful that more than half of these goals happened when footy was at its best, now it is very different.

Buddy‘s goal in 2013 was awesome, 12 seconds end to end. But Eddie is a class above.

BenProductions well you replied as if that was the only factor taken into account. Obviously they shouldn’t just give it to milestone players. However a player that old kicking 6, including the best goal of the year should be getting 3 votes from a performance perspective

Dman Ffff no way, he’s certainly the most freakish indigenous player and 3rd best forward pocket of all time. Dunstall, Ablett Snr, Lockett, Carey, kernahan, modra are way better goalkickers, they all kicked more than 700 goals, the list goes on. Best small forward of the modern era.

Mate come on. Youve always been able to give the ball some air as long as you kick it before anything else touches it. Players do it all the time when getting tackled
Luke Parker's goal against West Coast, from the same year, was a throw as well then.
@Tom Yeah to drop the ball onto the boot. Higgins lifted the ball upwards (a throw) in order to get around the post. Great creativity but it’s still a throw.

Jack Sharland It wasn't better than either of Franklin's goals. His second was from the 75 metre mark. His first, 2010, was from half back. He is phenomenal. Balantyne's and Kerr's goals were amazing! Ok, to clarify, Eddie Betts is a sensational player and his goals are top shelf. Higgins goal is a throw too. I was so pissed off when the ump paid it.....then again, how often do AFL players get away with incorrect disposal these days? I know, All of the time!
