Essendon last goal after the siren win was in 1913 there is no footage of it so anyone that saw that goal after siren in 1913 have all passed away by now so no Essendon fan alive right now has seen a goal after the siren and Essendon winning it
Im a ESSENDON fan and it hurts to have so many kicked against us but the closest we got in resent times was this year dreamtime at the G when Durham kicks the winner with 7 seconds left Go Bombers 🔴⚫
Did that NM one say Clarkson was playing his first game? WTF, why is that not spoken of more often? Kicking a goal after the siren to win in your first game!
I’ve heard about it before but there’s never actually been footage of it available on the internet till now. It’s annoying that the AFL have all this amazing old footage that we don’t get access to. At least we get to see some of it when they do stuff like this ig
It was big at the time as it meant Nth M and Melb swapped in 4th and 5th (last two finals spots as it used to be top 5). The reason it's forgotten about is because about 9 weeks later Gary Buckenara scored a goal after the siren for Hawthorn, also against Melbourne, to win the Preliminary Final. It was after a controversial (but probably fair) 15m penalty against Jim Stynes, which brought him from 55m to 40m so his probability went from say 15% to 60%. For Melbourne fans in particular, and the (at the time) VFL in general, it was overshadowed by a far bigger event. It is similar to Farra Fawcett dying the same day as Michael Jackson, or authors Aldous Huxley (Brave New World) and C.S.Lewis (Narnia) dying on the same day as the Kennedy Assassination.
As a Cats fan, I feel blessed. We have the most by far (8) and an unusually high rate of opposition misses in the same situation. In recent times (with more teams when it became more frequent) we have 6 of the last 28, only 2 against. The Miracle on Grass in 2013 was fairly irrelevant as we finished 2nd and couldn´t go to 1st or 3rd. The Gawn kick in 2021 completely changed the ladder and form lines. That was truly brutal and derailed our season. I especially feel for Bombers fans recently. The pain is soul consuming in the moment.
The worst part of the bomber vs pies one was them missing a set shot 25 out dead in front just b4 and the team assuming he would kick it and being all out of positon
@Sauraus1 It was awesome no doubt, in a vacuum. What I meant was Geelong finished 2nd and Brisbane finished 12th so it didn't really matter in the big picture. It is fairly meaningless and overstated. I can watch it and enjoy the spectacle without feeling bad. Whereas Max Gawn's goal meant we went from 1st to 3rd on the last kick of the home and away season, and it completely derailed our season. That is still unbearable to watch. I understand the enjoyment of lions fans in 2013 as it was a desperately lean period, but outside of the match itself, it was fairly irrelevant.
As an essendon supporter watching these videos with the majority of them being against us and the last one we won was in 1913.. really sums up our frustrations. We never win the close ones.
If there's one thing this video really tells me, it's that if Luke Darcy is in the commentary team with a goal after the siren about to be kicked, turn his microphone off...
@@survivortheoneincharge7875 nah but I would rather know I came into this world going for a team that has won 16 premierships other than winning some silly go on the siren
As a Essendon supporter I was sad after we lost to port in 2023 after the siren and Collingwood in 2022 are we just gonna lose everytime after the siren? 0:26 Houston wins Port after the siren. I was upset 1:02 Elliott wins it for Collingwood after the siren. I was upset for that game aswell
In 1924 at the Corio Oval Geelong defeated Fitzroy with a goal kicked after the siren. Fitzroy players tried, in vain, to prevent the goal by forming a human pyramid on the goal line. The pyramid tactic was banned by the league the following week.
Essendon's last goal after the siren to win is so long ago, no one alive today has seen it. Also imagine kicking the winning goal, all celebrating a clutch moment and then you hear the Blues team song play... Carlton, get a better song
Essendon having 16 premierships and their last after the siren goal coming against 'University' is pretty funny
essendon only have 2 afl premierships
A Goal after the siren means nothing, Freo have one and still have an Empty Cabinet
University is a real team though, or at least they were
@dog-et3iv what the hell are you talking about.
@@JackMan659 - Actually they have a McLelland Trophy.

It's funny that Gary Rohan has kicked the last goal after the siren for two clubs. He's clutch.
That was a ripping goal from Jimmy Gordon.

First time I've actually seen footage of that clarko one
Kicking 3 on debut, a goal after the siren is absolutely unreal
He didn't have much of a playing career but coached ok at one club at least. We'll see with the other. He may work wonders.
I love these videos, 11 minutes of thrill
Essendon have the most goals after the siren against them on this video and have no video of their own goal is just hilarious

Freos game winner was in 2019 im pretty sure, Sonny Michael Walters?
Yes, but in this video, they were talking about GOALS after the siren.

I was looking forward to seeing more of this "University" team we've all read about. 😂
gotta love the dawson kick got a louder roar than the Elliott one with half the crowd
What’s crazy is the amount of times Essendon have lost after the siren. Damn!

What a drop kick by Gordon
Huddo's commentary 👌
Essendon actually has 1 afl premiership from 2000 and 15 VFL premierships
Gary Rohan for two different clubs
Jimmy Gordon was him
I clicked on this faster than the essendon players could jump on the goal umpire😂
Collingwoods last goal on the siren was from mcCreery on Anzac Day 2023
Collingwood were in front before the goal was kicked
Don’t even have footage of Essendon because it was so long ago😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
