Number 1 should always have both goals that he kicked in those few minutes, that's what made it so special. Still hurts to see him in a Swans jumper, he'll always be a Hawk to me.
@Tom Bunnett he likes the area more, not necessarily the team. I think he said I moved because I wanted to be somewhere warmer and better. Plus he did a lot better at Hawthorn compared to Swans.
and on a big night he has to change underwear 7 or 8 times... it is wispered in the halls of channel 7 , in the game Franklin kicked 13 goals that Bruce was limping around the studios for a few days afterwards
I’m A Richmond Supporter But I Saw A Player Come Along And Soon He Became My Favourite Footballer And That Players Name Is Lance Franklin. Just So Amazing To Watch Flips Games On It’s Head I Love Watching Him Do Things Not Many Can Do
There a very few sportsmen who can just give you the chills in the best way possible unbelievable talent freak of nature whatever you want to call him he’s an absolute legend…
The view of the number 1 goal at 13:23 is exactly the view i had at the game. Was round 13 2010 on a friday night. Was sitting in the top deck of the olympic stand members wing and as soon as it went over hookers head and you saw the space in front of him, you just knew what was gonna happen. It happened in slow motion
For all the athleticism, skill and brilliance of these goals, perhaps a more important thing about some of them is that he often kicked goals, including some of these rippers at important moments in the game, either taking the lead or extending it late in the game. Check out the 4th quarter goals.
For this reason - I think 10 is his best goal. They went on to lose the game - but, it was a crucial moment in the game and the one I will never forget.
Franklin is a bona fide superstar and a big personality. Few players in this modern, homogenised AFL are. Watching Buddy play during his early seasons with Hawthorn was such a joy. Others at Hawthorn, players, coaches and admin, became infected with his energy and the entire organisation lifted. It wasn't just Buddy who did this. The coach, Clarko, had an enormous role in changing the attitude of so many within the club and with recruiting so many down to earth types. What Franklin did was bring his cheeky larrikin vibe. I enjoyed watching this video but cannot help feeling disappointed for Lance. Had he remained at Hawthorn he would have four premierships to his name instead of 2. He quite possibly could have even more. Wouldn't that be nice. One final musing.....If Franklin had gone to Fremantle instead of Sydney(I recall there was a huge offer on the table for him out west) I reckon Fremantle would be a Premiership winning club now. Ergo, Matthew Pavlich would've ended his exceptional career having been a Premiership captain. He, like so many, was too good a footballer to leave the game without having tasted ultimate success. I cannot wait until the footy season begins. CARN THE HAWKS!!
I was there at the 2011 Prelim when he dribbled it from the boundary with Tarrant on his tail and the one where he did the hurdle. He’s the type of player that you wish was on your side. Superstar
The man is a freak when hes on, its great to watch and i hope he is back to his best next year, not just for the game but for Sydney, and ofc he'll always be a hawk!!
There have been heaps of generational players in the last 10 years with the likes of Cyril Rioli, Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Hodge etc, but Buddy and Gaz Jr have been in just an absolute league of their own. How often have 2 potential GOATS played at the same time honestly?
What a player and what a champion! No doubt will get to the 1,000 goal mark and over 300 games this may be a while since we see this again and if so also maybe?
He will also be the last person to average four goals a game for a season. The last player to kick 900 and 1000 goals. Buddy was pure genius, class and greatness.
Goal number 5 has to be in the top 3. The skill under pressure late in a preliminary final, blows me away every time I see it. Won’t see anyone like him again.
I still think that prelim goal is the best goal he’s ever kicked. Sure hindsight with losing the game sucks but that was incredible. Tarrant was on him like bark on a tree and he broke off half a metre running flat out and did a banana dribble. That is by far not easy at all even for the best and he was ice cool and made it look like a 1m directly in front set shot with no man on the mark. Blokes a freak of nature and you can’t dampen what he’s brought to the game in the last decade and a half. Even if his moments are even more few and far between nowadays you give someone credit when it’s due and he still has blinders on his good days.
He is one of football's unfortunate stories. Leaving a great dynasty in Hawthorn to join a club incapable.of giving him more premierships. Should have stayed a Hawk, won 4 flags and go down as a one club Hawk legend.
Listen how lingy called him the champion swans full forward? Cry about it mate, he didn’t want to be a hawk anymore it’s alright you got your flags we got to cheer for buddy which you seem more worried about for some reason
@@maxkeith6810 Not crying about it mate, Hawks forward line opened up when Buddy went and obviously the 2 flags post Buddy. Just seeing it from Buddys perspective, missing out on 2 flags and swans being dry as a bone for flags.
Love him or hate him, you will be lucky to see another player as good as him again lol. 940 goals in 300 games in todays footy is unbelievable
Why would you hate him ?
NOAM GOLDBERGER *300

GET OVER IT… HE IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE A BLOOD. You buddy beauty 👍
You were magic! Thank you for an amazing career. Legend.
his 23rd best would be #1 for most players!
It wouldn't even be their number 1 it would be their dream if they scored that.
That is true
Here after the 1000! Thank you buddy, seriously. Not even a hawks/swans fan but you've provided so much joy over the years
One of the best forwards to play the game
it's a genuine tragedy that goal in the prelim against collingwood wasn't the match winner
TheDuffcat “BALL...THROWS IT ON THE BOOT!”
Couldn’t agree more. I personally think it’s his best goal he’s ever kicked. Defender did everything physically possible. Sheer class.
I’m a pies man and it’s the greatest goal I’ve seen live, thought it was game over
JDH then less than a week after that... “MALTHOUSE..... THROWS IN THE TOWEL”
Chris Serong how’d that work for you?
The unfortunate thing about Buddy’s goals are they cause Bruce to climax

I feel sorry for Cale Hooker. His greatest highlight appearance is not favourable to him!
I tend to disagree, it shows he had a lot of guts knowing he had no hope of catching him but still gave it 100%
To be fair most people wouldnt have been able to catch him !
q4 14 min. all of us would be cooked let alone staying within spitting distance of buddy over 100/150 mtrs. cmon

He will be the last man to kick 100 goals in a home and away season. The last player to kick 900 and 1000 goals. A modern day great forward.
There's been no player like him in the history of the game. He's unbelievable! Both Hawthorn and Sydney were lucky to have him.

Still love you Bud! Go Hawks!
William Staring not sure about the first bit. But go Hawks!!!!

Playing for the AFL darlings got it overlooked. Still in a HFC jumper would've been pinged
Not taking away from Buddy, but I'm fairly convinced at 12:37 his teammate didn't get a fist to the ball
